Paris Jackson, the daughter of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson, has given her modelling career a significant shot in the arm by signing for IMG, one of the world’s top modelling agencies.

IMG and Jackson made the announcement to the world via social media on Thursday (March 2nd), with the 18 year old taking to her Instagram to say she feels “very lucky and blessed” for the opportunity.

She joins a roster that includes Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss and sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid. In terms of the children of pop royalty, she’ll also be in the same modelling agency as Sir Mick Jagger’s daughter Georgia May Jagger.

Paris will also be launching an acting career in 2017, with Fox announcing back in January that she would be featuring in the drama series ‘Star’.

She recently revealed to Rolling Stone magazine, for whom she was the cover star for the February edition, that her brief modelling career thus far had been therapeutic for her.

“I've had self-esteem issues for a really, really long time,” she told the magazine earlier this year. “Plenty of people think I'm ugly, and plenty of people don't. But there's a moment when I'm modelling where I forget about my self-esteem issues and focus on what the photographer's telling me — and I feel pretty. And in that sense, it's selfish.”

Upon graduating from high school in 2015, Paris briefly attending community college, but dropped out after deciding she didn’t want to go down that route. She revealed that her father once told her that he would encourage her in a career in showbiz, if that’s what she wanted, but that her happiness was his paramount concern.

“’If you wanna be bigger than me, you can’,” she remembered him telling her. “’If you don't want to be at all, you can. But I just want you to be happy.'”
