Patrick Stewart Wants To Become An American Citizen

Patrick Stewart

Sir Patrick Stewart has decided to show his support for the American people in the best way possible; by requesting US citizenship so that he may help 'fight' the oppressive policies that are being put in place in the wake of President Donald Trump's election.

Logan Review

Excellent

Hugh Jackman returns to his signature role one last time (so he says), reuniting with filmmaker James Mangold, who also directed 2013's The Wolverine. But this doesn't feel like any other X-Men movie; it strikes a sombre, gritty tone from the start to take the audience on a dark and rather brutal road trip. So while it feels rather long and repetitive, the movie also has a strong emotional kick.

It's set in the year 2029, when mutants have been wiped off the planet, and no new ones have been born for years. Hiding out in a drunken haze as a Texas limo driver, Logan aka Wolverine (Jackman) has stashed Charles aka Professor X (Patrick Stewart) across the border in Mexico, watched over by albino caretaker Caliban (Stephen Merchant). Then a nurse (Elizabeth Rodriguez) appears asking for Logan's help to transport the young Laura (Dafne Keen) to North Dakota. And Laura clearly has a genetic connection with Logan. It also turns out that she has escaped from a Mexico City hospital, so as Logan, Charles and Laura hit the road, the ruthless henchman Pierce (Boyd Holbrook) and sinister Dr Rice (Richard E. Grant) are hot on their trail.

Mangold holds all of this in careful control, never tipping over into the usual whiz-bang Hollywood superhero action chaos (the violence is especially grisly). The story moves at a steady pace that adds an involving note of desperation to each sequence. This also makes the movie feel a bit repetitive and even wheel-spinning at times. Since the baddies are able to stay right on the heroes' heels, it's clear that even a nicely offhandedly sojourn with a farmer (Eriq La Salle) and his family will be short-lived. But the gnawing intensity, while never quite building into proper suspense, gets deep under the skin as it fleshes out the characters.

Studio Boss Admits Fears Over Dark Tone Of Hugh Jackman's Logan

Hugh Jackman Patrick Stewart

Studio bosses were initially concerned that Logan, the final film in the Wolverine franchise, would be too dark, according to Twentieth Century Fox Film chairman Stacey Snider.

Speaking at an Q&A session, Snider admitted that there was even a debate that the film, which sees Hugh Jackman’s character now past his prime, would be just “freakin’ boring” for audiences.

Logan Trailer

In an almost fourth-wall-breaking episode, the latest installment of the Wolverine movie series acknowledges the 'X-Men' comic book series. But this time Logan is far from the superhero his fans are reading about. Age has finally caught up with him - as it does with everyone - and he's no longer as fast or as agile as he used to be. His injuries don't heal as quickly as they used to either, but he's not the only one dealing with the crippling effect of old age. He's currently caring for Professor X in a hide-out, but their lives are about to become disrupted once again with the arrival of a new mutant. Laura is an 11-year-old girl with powers and abilities that match Logan's own. There are dark forces closing in on her, however, and as much as she is capable of taking care of herself, she needs guidance, protection and discipline from somebody who knows her struggle.

Ian McKellen's Sign At The Women's March In London Was The Best

Ian McKellen Donald Trump Patrick Stewart

The placard held by actor Ian McKellen as he joined the Women’s March in London has been declared the best sign of the day by the internet.

The sign featured a picture of McKellen’s pal Patrick Stewart as ‘Star Trek’s’ Captain Picard facepalming, and pretty much summed up many people’s feelings of frustration and anger towards the Trump presidency.

Patrick Stewart’s illustrious career spans popcorn blockbusters, long-running movie franchises and Shakespeare plays, but his latest role could end up being his most famous, and for all the wrong reasons.

Not even a mutant can be powerful forever. Logan aka Wolverine is dealing with the effects that old age are having on his ability to heal, namely the fact that his skin now scars easily and he's constantly in pain. Professor Charles Xavier is also suffering; Alzheimer's has taken over his mind, destroying his memories. But the pair don't even have the X-Men to take care of them anymore, as a new supervillain by the name of Nathaniel Essex with his Essex Corporation is destroying the world as we know it. Logan and Xavier's only chance of defeating Essex lies with a young girl named Laura Kinney who is an exact genetic clone of Wolverine in female form.

Patrick Stewart Urges Britain To Remain In The European Union

Patrick Stewart has penned an emotive letter arguing for Britain to remain within the European Union ahead of the referendum later this month.

Writing in The Guardian on Thursday (June 2nd), precisely three weeks before the nation goes to the polls on June 23rd, the stage and film legend argued that many who are campaigned for so-called ‘Brexit’ should remember how the European Union came to be in the first place – as a way to heal Europe after two world wars.

Green Room - Teaser Trailer

The Ain't Rights are a punk band looking for their big break and until that comes along, they're willing to tour and play any gig they're offered. When the band is given the chance to play a gig at short notice, they pack their bags and road trip to the Oregon venue.

The band work through their set of songs including a cover of The Dead Kennedys' track 'Nazi Punks F**k Off', some might say an odd choice of song given the current crowd of people they're playing to. As the band come off stage they return to the green room only to discover that they've stumbled upon a gruesome crime scene - a murder to be precise.

Locked in the green room and quickly evaluating their options, it seems that they're now the ones being targeted by the vicious venue owner, Darcy Banker, and his neo-Nazi gang. Held against their will, with no connection to the outside world, it becomes evident that Banker isn't going to allow the group to make it through the night alive.

With 95%, 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' Is The Best X-Men Movie. Period.

Hugh Jackman Ian McKellen Patrick Stewart Jennifer Lawrence Michael Fassbender James McAvoy

The early reviews of X-Men: Days of Future Past were potentially damaging. There was talk of the narrative being far too complex for the average movie fan to enjoy and many were suggesting Bryan Singer had bitten off more than he could chew by having the beloved characters from the original X-Men trilogy joining forces with their younger selves.

X Men Days of Future PastJames McAvoy [L] and Patrick Stewart [R]

Starring Sir Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, X-Men: Days of Future Past is certainly a hotbed of serious acting talent, but very often, big names simply aren't enough to carry a poor script. Luckily, for 20th Century Fox, writers John Byrne, Simon Kinberg, Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman haven't written a poor script. They haven't even written an overly complex script.

'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' Navigates Complicated Plot And Entertains, Say Critics

Hugh Jackman Ian McKellen James McAvoy Patrick Stewart Michael Fassbender

Professor X, Mystique, Magneto, Kitty Pryde and Wolverine are back, but this time the latter is trying to convince X-Men from the past to help stop a war that is going to occur in the future. It’s a complicated plot, by all accounts, but one that Bryan Singer and Matthew Vaughn have portrayed skilfully, with plenty of action in between.

The critics have kicked off the ever fluctuating aggregate Rotten Tomato score with a very healthy 86%. “Not since 2003's "X2: X-Men United" has this filmmaker tapped so effortlessly into his talent for comicbook gravitas, his ability to mine emotional resonance, pop poetry and (crucially) sly humor…” wrote Variety’s Justin Chang.

Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return is released today in the USA, giving American families a new look at the classic tale of Dorothy,Toto, Kansas and the magical land of Oz in an exciting new animated take. Glee star Lea Michele takes the lead, voicing the sparkly-shoed heroine whilst Dan Aykroyd plays the Scarecrow, Kelsey Grammer is the Tin Man and Jim Belushi voices the not-so-cowardly lion.

The movie is an adventure aimed at the youngest of cinemagoers but even so, critics have found fault with Legends of Oz at the most basic of levels. Directed by Will Finn ('The Road to El Dorado') and Dan St. Pierre ('Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey') and with Bryan Adams scoring, the film should have had all the makings of greatness but instead falls short with a mediocre plotline and decidedly second-rate animation.

Should Hugh Jackman Adopt His Wolverine Guise Yet Again?

Many actors have roles that define their careers. So far, Daniel Radcliffe’s Harry Potter is still his most recognisable work; Roger Moore will always be known as James Bond and Christopher Reeve just is Superman. Will Hugh Jackman always ben known as Wolverine?

He certainly will be if talk of another film turns out to be true. Often maligned, Jackman’s career has been of the illustrious sort. The Power Of Social Media And Patrick Stewart's Pizza Slice

Patrick Stewart

Sir Patrick Stewart caused a veritable storm on social media – and traditional media for that matter – when he tweeted a photo of himself enjoying his first ever pizza slice earlier this week. Everyone was astonished. By now, of course, Stewart has cleared up the case, explaining that he had had pizza before and was referring to the “slice” format, rather than the food itself. What is even more puzzling though is all of the attention that this has gotten, ever since the initial explosion. The actor spoke to New York Magazine about the whole incident, explaining that he was more shocked by the reaction, than everyone else was by the news themselves.

“I'm astonished. You know, we thought it was a cute picture,” he explained “I like doing these things that are kind of unexpected, as far as I'm concerned, and things that have a little bit of a surprise element to them. But we never anticipated what has happened. I just did an interview with BBC, the main evening news program. And it's been years since I've talked to them. And it's all, you know, about a pizza slice.”

The picture could be a testament to the power of social media to bring celebrities closer to their fans. It could be that all people have ever wanted, was bread and circuses – in this case, with some added sauce and pepperoni. Or it could just be a cute photo, as the man originally intended it to be. We’d say the lesson is this: follow Patrick Stewart’s Twitter. It’s hilarious.

Patrick Stewart Insists Pizza Is Not New To Him - Just The Triangular Kind

Patrick Stewart

Patrick Stewart reveals that he has in fact tasted pizza before after a misunderstanding on Twitter led people to believe that he'd never had a slice of the Italian junk food.

The 'Star Trek' actor was in fact being quite literal; he had posted 'My first ever pizza 'slice'. Please note: the authentic NY fold' accompanied by a photo and he literally meant that he'd never had a 'slice'. 'It was my first slice, and when it was brought over to me, my first comment was 'There's no knife and fork.' Of course, I was mocked for thinking that I could eat a pizza slice with a knife and fork', he revealed in an interview with New York Magazine after headlines went crazy with wondering how this 72-year-old could possibly have bypassed the delicious food. As much as he was unaware that one traditionally ate the stuff in triangular handheld slices, he did agree that he 'would have had to have stayed locked up in a cellar' to never have tried it all.

However, before you start looking at him like he's an alien, he did decide on pizza as a hangover cure, admitting, 'My fiancée and I were a little hung-over yesterday morning and she said what we need is pizza and a soothing drink - and she was right. It solved the problem.' See! He's just like the rest of us!

Patrick Stewart’s First Pizza Experience… Really?

Patrick Stewart

He’s manned the Starship Enterprise, boldly going where no man had gone before. As Professor Charles Francis Xavier, he promoted the peaceful affirmation of mutant rights, mediated the co-existence of mutants and humans, protected mutants from violent humans and protected society from antagonistic mutants. But Patrick Stewart has never had a pizza.

Until now.

Patrick Stewart tucked into his first slice of Pizza recently, and tweeted the proof. He probably didn’t imagine it would make the news, but, everyone in the Western world has had a pizza; it’s a massive, great big thing. He confused us by tweeting: "To clarify: 1) I've never had a "slice" 2) I've been a Habs fan all of 4 weeks 3) I'm also a fan of Bloomberg's soda legislation," which suggests he may have had pizza? But the idea of a 72-year-old actor never having had a slice o’ pie is too delicious, so, we’re running with it.

Sir Ian McKellen Reveals He's Marrying Patrick Stewart... No, Not Like That

Ian McKellen Patrick Stewart

Sir Ian McKellen is going to be marrying Patrick Stewart! No! Wait! Hold up! Not THAT kind of marrying. Patrick Stewart is going to be getting married – to the singer Sunny Ozell – and Sir Ian McKellen will be officiating the wedding. It’s not the first time that the Lord of the Rings star has overseen a friend’s wedding; he married two men in the UK as well, so he’s well-practised for the Star Trek actor’s nuptials, which are taking place “in the middle of America, somewhere.”

Speaking on the Jonathon Ross show, the presenter asked McKellen “how come you’re legally allowed to do that?” and the reply came, “well, I don’t know.” He went on to explain that the last time he officiated a wedding, for two men having a civil partnership, he was “crying his eyes out.”McKellen then moved on to the all-important sartorial decision of what to wear when officiating a wedding. “Last time I went with a gown, a sort of white gown, that I’d bought in India, it was rather fetching. But you mustn’t upstage the bride.”

McKellen was on the show to promote the new TV sitcom that he’ll be starring in, alongside Derek Jacobi. Entitled 'Vicious,' it follows the story of an ageing gay couple, who have lived very private lives and get through life by being rather vicious to each other. The ITV comedy has already been commissioned for a Christmas special, he revealed during the entertaining interview.

It's yet to be determined which role he will play in the forthcoming X-Men movie, which is co-written by Matthew Vaughan, the director of the previous movie.
