The day after the release of Fall Out Boy's latest single, Elle DeGeneres revealed that the band's lead singer had just had a son.
Patrick Stump, lead singer and primary composer for the band Fall Out Boy has become a father. The 30-year-old musician and his wife, Elisa Yao, welcomed the birth of their first child - a son called Declan. The news was announced by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres via Twitter on the day of the birth, Wednesday 15th October, 2014.
The 30-year-old Stump is a father for the first time
Until recently, the pair have kept the pregnancy a closely guarded secret. It wasn't until 7th September that Stump announced the pregnancy in an interview with 102.7 KIIS FM. The news came days before the release of Fall Out Boy's single 'Centuries' was released on 9th September. The single is supposedly the first single from their upcoming sixth studio album.
Fall Out Boy went on hiatus in 2009 due to all of the members having run out of steam for a while, and with their future uncertain. Stump expressed dismay towards the 'emo' feel that the band had adopted, and pursued a solo career between 2010 and 2012. This culminated in the release of 'Soul Punk' in October 2011, which saw generally positive reviews. Over this time, Stump also worked on losing 65 pounds in order to escape his growing health problems. As the cherry on the cake, in 2012, he married Yao who had been his girlfriend for many years.
With the reformation of Fall Out Boy in 2013, Stump was reunited with his old band mates and set about their fifth studio album, 'Save Rock and Roll', which was released in April of 2013. Following the release of 'Centuries' and the announcement of the upcoming pregnancy, Fall Out Boy released their second single, 'Immortals' (which features on the soundtrack for the upcoming 'Big Hero 6'), on 15th October, 2014; the day before Declan was born.
