The Ant-Man trailer is here - and the Reddit world has spoken.
Marvel Studios has released the first full trailer for Ant-Man, giving fans their first real look at Paul Rudd as the shrinking man himself. The internet pretty much imploded when this one hit last night and where better to gauge the critical reaction than on the hallowed pages of Reddit?
Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in Ant-Man
But first: a little background. Ant-Man is a weird one. It doesn't carry the same anticipation as The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America 3 or even Doctor Strange, though it's an intriguing movie with an intriguing cast. It was intended as a project for the innovative British filmmaker Edgar Wright though after disagreements over the script, he moved on. Still the major cast - Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas - remained and Peyton Reed came in as director.
More: so here's why Edgar Wright left Ant-Man
The original Ant-Man was a scientist named Hank Pym (Douglas), a brilliant but unpredictable man who designed a suit that allowed a man to shrink himself while retaining his strength.

More: So who is the new Ant-Man director Peyton Reed?
Still sitting pretty on the Reddit homepage, the trailer has generated considerable buzz - though not all of it positive.
"A big budget movie about men riding ants like dragons. What," said one user.
Paul Rudd shows of his six pack in 'Ant-Man'
"The artistic design of the alien thing probably went through atleast 20-30 people, and nobody said a word..." said another, referring to the dodgy looking flying Ant thing.
"Ant-Man is the real challenge for Marvel," mused another user, "Very low name recognition opposed to other Avengers. No real tie in with the other storylines. No BIG names attached after Edgar left. (M.Douglas' brand cant sell an action movie, nobody went to Thor because Hopkins was in it). Rudd is fantastic but i dont know if he has been the solo on a big movie like this before, Apatow comedies and such."
Paul Rudd's epic 'Ant-Man' mask
It's correct that Ant-Man is a challenge and potential risk for Marvel though the casting of Rudd and the pursuing of Edgar Wright proves it's one of the most innovative and forward thinking studios around.
Ant-Man hits on July 17, 2015.
