'Brick Mansions' the final film of actor Paul Walker will be released in April.
Paul Walker's Brick Mansions, the final movie the actor made before being killed in a tragic car accident last year, has finally been given a release date of April 25th 2014.
Paul Walker starring with R-za in 'Brick Mansions'
‘Brick Mansions’ is a re-make of of 2004 French film ‘District B13’ and was originally scheduled for release this month. It follows undercover cop Damien, played by Walker, who goes into a tenement named 'Brick Mansions' in order to disarm a neutron bomb before it detonates.
Paul had finished filming ‘Brick Mansions’ in June 2013, but had only completed his looping on the film three days before his fatal crash on November 30th. His co-stars in the movie were David Belle, who starred in the original French film and rapper R-za. It also marks the directorial debut of Camille Delamarre who is best known for his editing work on 'Taken 2' and T'ransporter 3'.
Originally, producers were unsure how to handle the movie in light of the actors death due to the film containing a high speed car chase and a crash, eerily echoing the actor’s tragic death in November. Marketing officer of EuropaCorp, the film's producers, Fabrice Denizot said shortly after Walker’s death, “what happened to Paul is devastating and we don’t want to push anything, and just want to take the time and do this right.” He went on to add, “all we can do is deliver the best movie we can in his honour. We are fine-tuning the editing right now.”
Now that the film has been given a release date, distributor Relativity, as well as producers EuropaCorp have decided not to give the movie a premiere, instead donating the money they would have spent to Walker's charity ‘Reach Out WorldWide’, which works with first responders around the world for disaster relief. Walker’s manager Matt Luber is also serving as a consultant on 'Brick Mansions' and its release. He will then continue to work closely with the Walker family as well as Relativity. Relativity said in a statement “Paul Walker was an incredible actor, a devoted friend and a warm colleague and we continue to mourn his tragic passing. We are proud to have worked with him on ‘Brick Mansions’ and look forward to honoring him with one of his final releases,”
