Since Paul Walker's death, stories about the Fast and Furious star's generosity have swamped the web. The actor was known to be big on charity, though former jewlery clerk Irene King will never forget the day that Walker sauntered into her Santa Barbara store, picked up the tab for a $9,000 engagement ring for a complete stranger, and fled into the Los Angeles day. Read about Tila Tequila's ridiculous theory on Paul's death.

During the holiday season of 2004, Walker was looking around the store while a couple were picking out an engagement ring. The man - soldier Kyle Upham who had just returned from duty in Iraq - was checking out the cheaper items, though his wife spotted something she "really, really liked." It was a $9,000 engagement ring. Upham said "Honey, I can't afford that," King recalled.

Walker stepped in and discreetly told the manager to "put in on my tab" before leaving the store. The manager then told the couple that the ring had been taken care of but kept his promise not to reveal the identity of the mystery benefactor.

Now, following Walker's passing, King told CBS Los Angeles that the world would want to know.

The couple - now happily married - have also come forward to discuss the day. Kristen said she and her husband had exchanged pleasantries with Walker in the store, telling the actor that Kyle had just returned from Iraq.

"I remember seeing the look in his face," Kristen said. "He kind of transformed."

The Uphams say they suspected it was Walker who bought the ring all along, but were never sure.

"When we hand down the ring through the generations, there will always be a story to tell," Kyle said.

"His real life speaks volumes of his character," Kristen said. "He really did put his money where his mouth is and did good for this world.
