Penelope Cruz hates shooting love scenes in films, so she makes her co-stars laugh to help relieve the tension.
The Spanish beauty appears as Daniel Day-Lewis' mistress in movie musical Nine and filmed a series of intimate clips with him.
But Cruz didn't enjoy the experience and turned to humour to get through the testing shots.
She tells U.S. host Larry King, "It's always a very strange thing. I mean, we had the best director and I was in the best possible company, but it's always something strange... We laughed a lot together, because you have to bring humour to those situations."
Day-Lewis agreed: "We had to laugh."
