Fact: British pop duo the Pet Shop Boys are to make a guest appearance on beloved BBC Radio 4 soap opera The Archers. The West End Girls hitmakers will headline the show's fictional festival, Loxfest. Confirming the news after it was announced during Friday's (22Aug14) broadcast of the show, Neil Tennant says, "It's a thrill for us to enter the world of The Archers." The performance can be heard on Monday night (25Aug14).

Fact: The Pet Shop Boys' new orchestral work about the life of wartime code breaker Alan Turing will premiere at this summer's (14) BBC Proms concert series at London's Royal Albert Hall. The Pet Shop Boys Prom, on 23 July (14), will feature new orchestral arrangements of the pop duo's songs along with their Turing-inspired piece A Man from the Future. Turing, who received a posthumous royal pardon in December, 2013, following a conviction for homosexual activity, was one of World War Two's top code breakers and helped the Allied forces decipher Nazi tactics.

Fact: The Pet Shop Boys have recorded a tribute song to police shooting victim JEAN CHARLES DE MENEZES. WE'RE ALL CRIMINALS NOW features as a B-side on the British duo's latest track LOVE ETC. Brazilian De Menezes was gunned down at London's Stockwell Underground station in 2007 by police who wrongly believed he was a suicide bomber.

Fact: The Pet Shop Boys have announced two special U.K. concerts to celebrate their Outstanding Contribution to Music prize at Wednesday (18Feb09) night's Brit Awards. The duo - Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe - are set to play Manchester Apollo on 18 June (09) and London's O2 arena on 19 June.
