Pete Doherty Performs Protest Gig

Pete Doherty

Pete Doherty performed at a protest in France on Thursday (04.05.17).

The Libertines and Babyshambles singer - who has lived in the European country for several periods of his life - was among 30 performers and dozens of anti-racism groups who gathered at a rally at the Place de la Republique in Paris to demonstrate against the ''threat'' of far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen.

Pete reportedly warned the crowd - who had signs bearing slogans such as ''Multicoloured people = Happy France'' and ''No borders, no nations'' - that Le Pen's anti-immigration stance was ''not some distant threat, you know. It's like a shadow at the gate''.

While it may have been one of the most anticipated reunions of the year, The Libertines are still proving to be as chaotic and unpredictable as they were in The Good Old Days. The cult band, consisting of frontmen and guitarists Pete Doherty and Carl Barat, along with drummer Gary Powell and bassist John Hassall, reunited this summer for a string of high profile festival dates across Europe.

As hungry fans lapped up the reunited foursome, the band were forced to stop mid way through their second song, ‘Boys in the Band’ due to crushing at the front of the barrier. The crowd eventually stepped back to allow some audience members to be pulled out by security, but the show was eventually stopped again during ‘Time for Heroes’.

The Libertines' Hyde Park Reunion: Can We Expect The Good Old Days?

Pete Doherty Carl Barat

Today, tickets for The Libertines’ Hyde Park reunion gig this July went on sale. Since the announcement that Peter Doherty and Carl Barat were reuniting for the summer festival it’s been hard to properly assess whether or not this is really a good idea. Though if you’re a Mayfair resident it seems you have your own (less valid) reasons to object. So with the admission that the reunion is a financial move and ten years after their break up, is it worth buying a ticket for Hyde Park?

Peter Doherty has plainly admitted that the upcoming Libertines reunion is based more on his financial circumstances than anything else. When Doherty originally mentioned the reunion, he said his financial situation meant that he “couldn’t say no” to the offer on the table. As fans wondered wether the Hyde Park show would actually happen before any official announcement was made, the debate began, will The Libertines this time round, for the money, be worth investing our emotions in all over again?

Carl Barat has issued a pragmatic response to those opposing The Libertines’ comeback gig at Hyde Park in early July. “If people are concerned about noise they shouldn't have moved to Hyde Park,” he said.

The LibertinesThis is what Libertines fans have been waiting years to see again

Barclaycard's British Summer Time gigs at Hyde Park on July 5th will see the iconic indie rock band perform their much anticipated comeback, but Mayfair residents have objected, specifically name checking Peter Doherty – the band’s controversial frontman – in their reasoning.

Pete Doherty

Pete Doherty, singer from the band Babyshambles, has been questioned by his young son about his drug use. The former Libertines frontman was kicked out of the band for his constant drug-use, has revealed that he still uses heroin, yet he is beginning to come around to the idea that perhaps he isn't a particularly good role-model for his 9-year-old son. This came about when his son, Astile, when ahead and questioned him about his use of illicit substance abuse.

Doherty explained: ''I see it as a selfish lifestyle choice. My nine-year-old son, I can't be there for him. He's smart. He said to me, 'Have you just taken your medicine?' I didn't know what to say. In his eyes it's sad and wrong, you're not the attractive person a child wants you to be.'' He went on to reveal that he may, in fact, lament his self-destructive lifestyle. He looked at his image, revealing: ''It's seen as a spiritual crime now to be a junkie. The lowest thing.''

Pete Doherty Denies Rumours That He Lives With Macaulay Culkin

Pete Doherty Macaulay Culkin

Former Libertines frontman, Pete Doherty, is fighting the allegations that he is sharing a home with 'Home Alone' star Macaulay Culkin. Doherty moved to Paris in 2009 in order to help kick his growing drug habits and rock 'n' roll lifestyle from the UK. In 2013, reports emerged that Culkin had moved in with him.

Doherty, however, has tried to quell these rumours by publically denying them. He reveals that the rumours most likely blossomed from a meeting he had with the 'Hoe Alone' star, where he introduced Culkin to his nine-year-old son, Astile. In an interview with 'Q' magazine, Doherty explained: "[My son is] mad on Home Alone, I was trying to impress him."

Kate Moss Opens Up On Her 90s Heroin Chic Tag And Anorexia

Kate Moss Pete Doherty

For many, Kate Moss has been at the cutting edge of fashion for over two decades now, and for some, she’s a bad example for feminism and freedom of choice. During the 90s, she was branded anorexic and handed the title ‘heroin chic’ by the media, something her high-profile relationship with Pete Doherty only served to exacerbate.

Kate MossKate Moss strikes a pose at Glastonbury

"It was horrible, especially the anorexic thing," she told Allure magazine (although The Mirror quoted it). "The heroin, I was like, 'Oh, it’s just ridiculous I don’t do heroin. Just because I wear a bit of black eyeliner that’s smudged'." Moss, though, denies that she was ever anorexic. "But the anorexic thing was a lot more upsetting, to be held responsible for somebody’s illness. I wasn’t anorexic,” she adds.

Yep, You Heard Us Right: Babyshambles Announce New UK Tour

Pete Doherty Babyshambles

It’s been six years since a Babyshambles album and a good couple since they headed around the UK on tour. Have we missed them? No, not really, even despite Pete Doherty’s middling solo efforts. In fact, since the always troubled Doherty has been in France trying to kick the smack habit it’s been quite refreshing not looking into his gaunt features at every turn, his eyes like black raisins staring out of every entertainment publication possessed with the passion of nothing at all.

Well, forget about those golden days, because Pete’s back and he’s bringing the rest of the Babyshambles crew with him. That’s right, with a third album in the works, the motley lot have thrown caution to the wind and announced a full UK tour, which will kick off in Glasgow on September 4th and finish up at Bournemouth on October 21st.

As the NME reports, the sessions that had been begun by the band were initially set to result in Doherty’s second album, but have ended up becoming this new third album – the first since 2007’s Shotter’s Nation. Expect: pork pie hats, Doherty coming on stage two hours late and Libertines covers that are superior to any of the group’s original material. Or maybe they’ll surprise us…

"I Loved Amy Winehouse" - Pete Doherty Reveals Love Affair With The Late Singer

Amy Winehouse Pete Doherty

Pete Doherty has revealed, in an intimate interview with the Daily Mail, that he once had an affair with Amy Winehouse and claims that he is still in love with the singer, who died last year, at the age of 27.

Both Amy and Pete (the former frontman of The Libertines) have had their musical talents overshadowed by their enduring struggles with addiction and substance abuse. Winehouse’s struggle though, ended tragically with her early death.

Sat in his favourite Parisian bistro, Wagon Bleu, Doherty reveals “yes, it’s true. Amy and I were lovers. I loved her then and, well, I still do today.” He added “but towards the end, as only lovers can, she became quite mean and cruel to me. She didn’t suffer fools... and believe me, she had a mean right hook.” During the interview, he is reminded of comments that he made about Amy three years ago, when he said “I’m kind of in awe of her because I do believe she is an incredible talent who has come out of nowhere. And like a lot of the greats she is irreplaceable so .  .  . we don’t want to lose her.” His response to hearing those words once more, was to say “Wow, I said that, did I? Well we did lose her. There but for the grace of God go I, is what I say.”

Pete Doherty Boasts About His Former Career As A Rent Boy And Drug Dealer To Fuel His Addictions

Pete Doherty The Libertines Babyshambles

Pete Doherty, formerly of the band The Libertines, chose to reveal his past experiences as a prostitute and drug dealer in order to fuel his various addictions. Before becoming famous with The Libertines and having enough money to fund his cocaine and heroin addictions, Doherty worked as a rent boy and, on at least one occasion, robbed one of his gay clients after tying him up in his Chelsea home.

While now working as frontman for the band Babyshambles (having been kicked out of The Libertines for allowing his addictions to escalate to the point where he appeared on stage intoxicated), Doherty admits that he used to hide bundles of cash in his fridge in order to set up drug deals.
