Pete Doherty dedicated his "last gig in a long time" to late singer Amy Winehouse and his filmmaker friend Robyn Whitehead, who died last year (10).
The Babyshambles star took to the stage at London's Brixton Academy on Friday night (23Sep11) and told the crowd he would be bowing out of the spotlight after the concert to work on new projects.
He then dedicated the show to Winehouse and his late pal Whitehead, who died from heroin poisoning in January, 2010.
Doherty finished the gig by performing a song written especially for Winehouse, telling the crowd, "This will be the last gig in a long time because we need to go and get some new things together so this is it for a while. I want to dedicate this show to the memory of Robyn Whitehead and Amy Winehouse, two good friends of mine. Here's a song I wrote for Amy."
Last month (Aug11), Doherty paid tribute to Winehouse during his set at Britain's Reading and Leeds festivals by covering her hit track Tears Dry On Their Own.
