British rocker Pete Doherty was jailed for six months on Friday (20May11) for possessing cocaine.
The former Libertines frontman has been battling addictions to heroin and crack cocaine for more than seven years and has notched up a string of convictions for drug offences.
In January last year (10) he was arrested following the death of his close pal Robyn Whitehead, and was subsequently charged with cocaine possession. He pleaded guilty last month (Apr11), and at a hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court in east London on Friday, Doherty was jailed for six months.
The rocker was in the midst of a U.K. tour but all remaining dates are now due to be scrapped.
The jail sentence came just hours after Doherty confessed the death of Whitehead has left him a "broken" man.
