Peter Andre's parents told him not to marry Katie Price.

The singer has revealed his mum and dad Thea and Sawas Andre warned him not to tie the knot with the busty beauty - who he separated from in May 2009 after three-and-a-half years of marriage - but he didn't take any notice of their warning.

When asked what has been the best piece of advice he has ever received, Peter said: "Don't get married. It's the truth isn't it? They told me that before I got married, they tell me that now. It's the best bit of advice, I guess?"

Although he didn't accept his parents' advice, the 38-year-old star - who is appearing in new TV show 'Peter Andre: Here 2 Help', in which he answers requests from the British public to change things they are unhappy with in their lives - has been sharing his own wisdom with his and Katie's two kids, Junior, six, and four-year-old Princess Tiaamii.

He added to BANG Showbiz: "(I've told them) to love their mother and father, that's the best advice I could ever give them."

Although Peter is confident about his parental skills, he admits he isn't much of dating guru.

The 'Behind Closed Doors' singer - who is currently single after splitting from Spanish model Elen Rivas - said: "I'm not very good at giving dating advice, hello I'm single, I just kind of find out what they (the girls) like. For Example if someone comes up and says to me, 'I really like a guy, do I dress up over the top and make a really big effort.' And as a guy I personally wouldn't like that, I'd prefer it if a girl was in her trackies (tracksuit bottoms). I'm not great at giving dating advice, I just know what I like."

'Peter Andre: Here 2 Help' airs on ITV2 at 9.00pm tonight (14.07.11).
