The past couple of days have been a feast for any diehard Doctor Who fan – first several DW scripts were leaked online in what has been described as the biggest security breach in the show’s history. The BBC has confirmed that the scripts for five unaired episodes of season 8 were genuine, although the source of the leak is still unknown, although it is believed to have originated in the BBC Worldwide offices in the US. The statement urged fans not to distribute the spoiler material.

What do you think of the Doctor's new look? Bowie-esque enough?

Seven weeks ahead of the season premiere, the BBC apologized to fans and everyone, who had worked on the season and urged devout Whovians not to distribute the material ahead of its official release.

"We would like to make a plea to anyone who might have any of this material and spoilers associated with it not to share it with a wider audience so that everyone can enjoy the show as it should be seen when it launches.

"We know only too well that Doctor Who fans are the best in the world and we thank them for their help with this and their continued loyalty."

Meanwhile, in an effort to clear the air, the network has released a new Dalek-voiced teaser and new stills of Peter Capaldi as the twelfth Doctor. We still maintain that he will be the thirteenth, by the way, despite what John Hurt and series creator Steven Moffat may say. The eldest actor to take on the role since the 2005 reboot, Capaldi has gone for a David Bowie-inspired look. Capaldi describes it as "simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing."

Note he didn’t make a dig at the bowtie and fez. Not directly, anyway.
