Poison Ivy is a consistently-evolving character in FOX's DC Comics superhero series, 'Gotham'. With two actresses taking on the role in the past, it's now been revealed that Peyton List will be the third to step into the mantle of Ivy Pepper, as the character comes closer than ever before to becoming the villainess.

She will replace Maggie Geha in the role, who stepped in to take over from Clare Foley during season 3. Ivy is somebody who seems to mature at an incredibly fast rate in the show, especially when compared to the other children involved, such as Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) and Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova). Fortunately, 'Gotham' explained the ageing process in a storyline with Dr. Hugo Strange, allowing Ivy to join the other villains on the streets causing chaos.

An official announcement from FOX came alongside the casting, recognising the change in the character and teasing: "In the continuing evolution of Poison Ivy’s origin story, Ivy Pepper has been transformed once again taking another step toward becoming the Ivy we know from the comics. Dangerous. A live wire of crazy energy. She’ll set her sights on Gotham, intent on making the city her own green paradise."

This isn't the first DC role for List, who also played Lisa Snart aka the Golden Glider in The CW series 'The Flash'. She went on to star in 'The Tomorrow People' and 'Frequency', but both of those shows were cancelled before ever really getting off the ground.

Fortunately, this could be a role that List now takes all the way to this series' conclusion. Having already proven herself to be a brilliant addition to DC, this is a position we could see her in for an extended amount of time. The ageing process for Ivy has to stop at some point and, if fans like her performance here, this could be the perfect time.
