Hidden Figures Review

Very Good

This film recounts such a great true story that we don't mind the fact that it's all a bit too warm and polished, or that it kind of ignores its side characters. The central events, which took place more than 55 years ago, touch on big issues that have a strong present-day relevance. And the acting is excellent from a gifted ensemble cast. So even if the filmmaking isn't very complex, the themes resonate strongly.

It's set in 1961 Virginia, where Nasa is losing the space race to the Russians. To get things moving, programme director Al (Kevin Costner) turns to Katherine (Taraji P. Henson), a mathematician who works with the black women in the "colored computer" room downstairs. In Mission Control, she proves her value as an ace number cruncher. Meanwhile, engineer Mary (Janelle Monae) struggles in a system that ignores her contributions, while Dorothy (Octavia Spencer) has been passed over for promotion despite the fact that she's the only person who can make any sense of the new computer system. So as the entire facility works to get a man into space, it's doubtful that the leaders will see that these women are vital to the project.

The fact that this story is so little-known kind of answers that question. But the film never takes a political approach, instead finding the humanity in the situation. Gentle humour abounds in the interaction between characters, and even the racial insults (such as requiring Katherine to sprint through the rain to use a designated restroom) are played for chuckles. Meanwhile, the script offers slight glances at their personal lives: Katherine is a single mother with three smart daughters and a sweet romantic interest (Mahershala Ali), and Mary's preacher husband (Aldis Hodge) helps her fight for the right to study in an all-white college. Spencer's Dorothy doesn't really get a subplot, but then she's the movie's scene-stealer, so she doesn't really need one.

Janelle Monae Pharrell Williams Ellen Degeneres

The three singers were scheduled to perform their song ‘I See a Victory’ from the movie Hidden Figures – of which Monae herself is a star – on DeGeneres’ show on Thursday this week (January 5th). Missy Elliott has unveiled her first new music in over seven years, as today she released the video for a brand new single ‘WTF (Where They From)’, a collaboration with R&B star Pharrell Williams.

The 44 year old star was responsible for some of the most distinctive and downright cool pop music of the late ‘90s and mid noughties, but she hasn’t released anything since 2008, when she vanished from the music scene. However, she's been gradually easing herself back into music, notably with a brief performance at halftime of February's Super Bowl.

The first edition of the BBC Music Awards saw Pharrell Williams and Ed Sheeran steal headlines.

Unsurprisingly, two of the most commercially successful artists in the world took home awards at the ceremony at Earl’s Court in London on Thursday evening. Post O2 Gigs, Pharrell Is On Top Of The World And Not Sweating The Small Stuff

Pharrell Williams Robin Thicke O2 Arena

I love Pharrell almost as much as I love that giant mushroom hat and after he produced the biggest hits of 2013 AND 2014, it’s likely that you do too. The multi-talented producer/rapper/musician/songwriter/mogul capped off his UK spree with a tell-all interview with The Independent, which basically covered everything from Robin Thicke to the aforementioned hat. The latter is apparently a  a vertiginous version of an old Vivienne Westwood design. After it made its debut at the Grammys in January, it’s definitely earned the title of Hat of the Year.

Coachella Pharrell Williams Arcade Fire Outkast

The Coachella festival has closed its gates for another year, but not before it got an almighty second weekend send off. Last weekend the festival brought plenty of star performances, special surprises and maybe a slight tinge of disappointment when it came to one of the most anticipated acts. So how did weekend two fare and most importantly were Outkast any better the second time around?

OutkastOutkast had to prove themselves after last weekend's disaster

Last weekend Outkast’s much hyped reunion was met with resounding negativity as poor sound quality and bad production values marred their set. One week later and it seems the duo have learnt from their mistakes as Billboard reports Andre 3000 and Big Boi took to the stage, “strutting with an emboldened confidence light-years from the standoffish attitude that came through the first weekend.”

Arguably California's most eagerly anticipated event of the year, Coachella settles at the Empire Polo Club in Indio once again for the fifteenth year running between April 11th and 13th on the first weekend and April 18th and 20th on the second. It's not unheard of that a music festival was so good they had to hold it twice, but as of 2012 it has become a no-brainer for Coachella. In a nutshell, it is basically a big playground for grown-ups - though of course it is a family friendly event - featuring activities such as the 3 Legged Race, the Beauty Bar, the art studios, dodgeball and the almighty Pie Eating Contest, all while you're munching on a variety of cuisine from around the state and rocking out to some of the best bands you will ever hear.

SNL Recap: Anna Kendrick Is As Doe-Eyed As Ever, Pharrell Brings Out Grammy Hat

Anna Kendrick Pharrell Williams

An excellent topic to kick off Monday with – Anna Kendrick hosted SNL last week (excellent unless you missed it, of course.) Kendrick was perfect at matching the pitch of SNL’s comedy (get it?) On her first time hosting, she kicked things off with a Broadway-like musical number to the tune of Beauty and the Beast’s Little Town in lieu of an opening monologue, proving that everything is funnier when you add synchronized dance.

Anna Kendrick
Kendrick tried her best, but the script didn't do her any favours.

The Disney theme continued throughout the night with Kendrick doing a Kesha-inspired (sans $) version of the little mermaid. A little mermaid who can’t sing and is, apparently, vaguely racist. No seriously, that was the sketch. Kendrick mostly played characters we’ve seen her do before – nervous first time host, nervous fairytale creature, nervous zookeeper, nervous blonde Republican lady – the writing team really did not do her any favors.

More importantly, the award show continued the beloved tradition of surprise slimings. For those not in the know, that’s the show’s way of combining humor with mild public humiliation, by pouring buckets of green goop on several unsuspecting presenters. One of the most hotly anticipated parts of the award show is finding out which celebrities needed an extra thorough shower at the end of the night. This year there were only three victims – Pharell Williams, sporting  bright yellow SpongeBob SquarePants pajamas, took a shot of the show's trademark green goo, but he took it like a champ. He Didn't Just "Get Lucky": Celebrating Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams The Neptunes

To celebrate Pharrell Williams’ first UK Number One Album G I R L we thought we’d take a few minutes to look back over the N.E.R.D. frontman’s career, and wow, we never even knew half of this!

Pharrell started his career back in the early 90’s when he formed a four-piece group called The Neptunes (sound familiar?) with friends Chad Hugo, Mike Etheridge and Shay Haley. The group were discovered at a high school talent show by Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter and producer, Ted Riley. As soon as the boys graduated they signed with Riley’s record label.

Many wondered who exactly Pharrell was trying to look like when he debuted his hat at the Grammy awards in January. Actually future hat owners Arbys tweeted the singer asking for their hat back because it so resembles their logo, but actually the hat has nothing to do with fast food at all, instead it has a colourful history in hip hop and fashion.

The Oscars red carpet is not just for the ladies to make a fashion statement, this year the men have proven that they’re more than willing to take some risks on the big night. Oscar Producers Zadan And Meron Tease Some Of This Year's Biggest Moments

Ellen Degeneres Craig Zadan Bette Midler U2 Pharrell Williams Idina Menzel Karen O

Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron made a controversial hit out of the Oscars last year, but they might be on thin ice this time. Getting Seth McFarlane to host anything is a risky bet and his antics last year got a lot of people – notably the feminist crowd – pretty riled up. The controversy served its purpose. Last year’s show pulled in 40.3 million US viewers, the largest audience the show has had in three years. Zadan and Meron’s show was a hit with the key 18-49 demographic and the duo were invited back this year.

Ellen Degeneres
Ellen might be a safer choice for host, but she is far from boring.

And yet. The choice of Ellen for this year’s host suggests that the producers were at least a little bit intimidated by last year’s backlash. This year’s host, Ellen, while hilarious and ever entertaining, is a much safer option and has proven appeal with the Oscars’ key demo – women.

Pharrell Williams - Happy Single Review

Pharrell has just been on a roll over the last few years while we've been waiting for him to release a second solo studio album. In 2010, he composed the film score to the much adored Golden Globe nominated animated film 'Despicable Me' and since then things only seem to be getting better for him. He has appeared on three number singles from other artists since he released his last one in 2006, but now he's well and truly back as a solo star in his own right as he releases a brand new single entitled 'Happy' which he wrote for the much-anticipated 'Despicable Me 2'.

Pharrell Williams - Happy Single Review

There's not a lot you can criticise with 'Happy'; with Pharrell's classic soul voice it has a strong Motown feel - it's simple and archetypal with no embellishments. Unbelievably catchy, it's definitely the kind of song that makes you want to dance and sing along - an important element for any children's film tune. More importantly, it's infectiously cheerful with its summery vibes that ease that seasonal misery winter often brings and it's just so wonderfully innocent - not something often found in your average modern pop song.

It gets a little repetitive after a while, but maybe that's the beauty of it; it's uncomplicated with a very clear sentiment, and see if you don't clap along ("if you feel like a room without a roof...")!

Robin Thicke To Sue Marvin Gaye & Funkadelic Over 'Blurred Lines' Plagiarism Claims

Robin Thicke T.I Pharrell Williams Marvin Gaye

Robin Thicke may have enjoyed having THE number one hit of the entire summer with 'Blurred Lines,' but the singer now is apparently locked in a legal battle over that very song following claims that it sounds very similar to two older tracks. Despite professing his love for Marvin Gaye and discussing the influence the singer has had on his career, this hasn't stopped Thicke and his 'Blurred Lines' collaborators T.I. and Pharrell Williams from taking Gaye's family to court following complaints that 'Blurred Lines' sounds strangely similar to Gaye's 'Got To Give It Up.'

Robin Thicke
Thicke may be a fan of Gaye and Funkadelic, but he also has a reputation to uphold

According to The Hollywod Reporter, who broke the story, the Gaye family had apparently threatened Thicke and co. with legal action over the similarities between his hit song and Marvin's 1977 track. A similar complaint had been made by the company Bridgeport Music, who represent the legendary funk band Funkadelic, with the company claiming that 'Blurred Lines' shares an uncanny resemblance to their track 'Sexy Ways.' Now both the Gaye Estate and Bridgeport Music will both legal action from Thicke, T.I. and Williams as the latter attempt to brush off any claims of plagiarism.

Robin Thicke Is Suing Marvin Gaye's Family. Is That Even Legal?

Robin Thicke Pharrell Williams Marvin Gaye

Robin Thicke is suing Marvin Gaye's family, claiming he was threatened and accused of plagiarism over his summer hit 'Blurred Lines.'

In order to protect the song - which will probably turn out to be the biggest of the year - Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and Clifford Harris Jr are going to court. A lawsuit filed on Thursday (August 15, 2013) by the trio against Marvin Gaye's family and Bridgeport Music concerned the similarities between 'Blurred Lines' and at least two songs, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Let us explain. The suit claims that the Gaye family is alleging the controversial song "feels" or "sounds" the same as Marvin's 'Got To Give it Up' and that the "Gaye defendants are claiming ownership of an entire genre, as opposed to a specific work."

Though the title track from Robin Thicke's latest album Blurred Lines was disparaged by critics for seemingly promoting sexual violence with its worrysome lyrics, the album was released today in the USA and is expected to hit No.1 as quickly as it did upon its 15th July release in the UK. The lead single from the album, 'Blurred Lines', which featured rapper T.I. and Pharrell Williams was released in March but ignited the fury of anti-sexual violence campaigners when the music video debuted.

The video depicts Thicke and the accompanying rap duo surrounded by scantily clad women who strut around waiting to be pawed at by the suited men. Thicke hit back at those who criticised him, insisting he was a man of faithfulness and respect towards women, having been with his now-wife Paula Patton since their high school days. However, branded as "rapey", the song sickened many who saw it as exploitative and objectifying women but the single, perhaps boosted by the swirling negative press, hit and held the top spot on the singles chart in 21 countries.

A Frankenstein Monster Of An Album And A True To Life Documentary - The Future Looks Birght For Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus Pharrell Williams

If a Twitter feed, an instagram stream and a steady supply of gossip don’t provide enough insight into Miley Cyrus’ life, this fall there will be more – namely, an MTV documentary about the process of recording and promoting Miley’s new album and her life throughout. Apparently, it’ll be a Ke$ha-esque affair, a la My Crazy Beautiful Life, only instead of a reality series, the Miley-verse will be presented in feature film form.

Miley Cyrus, London
If We Can't Stop was this shocking, wonder what she has in store for the documentary.

This won’t be the first documentary of this kind, as MTV has previously produced similar features on Drake, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Demi Lovato. For some reason, however, the Miley movie seems to be attracting a lot more attention than any previous MTV doc. Of course, the most crucial part of the documentary is the album itself. While only one track, We Can’t Stop, has seen the light of day so far and to controversial reception at best, Pharell Williams, who collaborated with Cyrus heavily on the album, swears by its different sound and heavier (but not too heavy) style.

Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' Tops Hot 100 Again, But 'Unrated' Concerns Remain

'Blurred Lines,' Robin Thicke's huge breakout hit featuring that T.I. and Pharrell Williams, has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the fifth week. The track also spends a sixth week at No.1 on the Digital Songs chart, selling 423,000 downloads - equalling last week's total  and bettering the previous week's 423,000.

'Lines' is only the second song to sell at least 400,000 downloads in three tracking weeks, joining Gotye's massive hit 'Somebody That I Used To Know' featuring Kimbra, which reached the mark on charts dated April 28, May 5 and May 12, 2012, according to Billboard.com.

'Blurred Lines' has now sold 2.4 million copies date, though concerns still remain over the song's controversial video featuring various well-known models parading around nude while Thicke stands around in a suit.

Amid Controversy, Robin Thicke Stands Up To Defend "Blurred Lines"

Robin Thicke Pharrell Williams T.I

Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines and the accompanying video might have been getTIng a lot of flack for the “rape-y” lyrics and the objectification of women in the clip, but fret not, because Thicke himself has stepped up to defend his work. You have to admire the man for standing up to defend lyrics like “Nothin' like your last guy, he too square for you/He don't smack that ass and pull your hair for you” and, of course the ever charming “I'm a nice guy, but don't get confused, you gettin’ it” But at least Thick has a reasonable explanation for his questionable lyrics, right? Well, sort of.

“For me it’s about blurring the lines between men and women and how much we’re the same,” Thicke said in what sounds like a promising statement for Radio 1. “And then there’s the other side of it which is the blurred lines between a good girl and a bad girl, and even very good girls all have little bad sides to them.”

The censored version might have been deemed SFW, but it still has a lot of the same problems.

Discussing his plans on ITV's Lorraine programme, Robin explained, "I think I'm going to do a remix with Andy Murray," saying he would shoot a new video with a sports twist, specifically, "Beautiful girls in various tennis outfits with rackets strategically placed." We're not sure Murray would be up for this collaboration, given the state of his music taste.

Jay-Z's 'Magna Carter' Free Downloads For Samsung Won't Count In Album Chart

Jay Z Rick Rubin Pharrell Williams Timbaland Swizz Beatz

It looked as though Jay-Z's next album already had the number one spot wrapped up before it was even released, however the powers at the Official UK Chart have decided that if Jay-Z wants a number one album he's going to have to do it the old fashion way; by selling Magna Carta Holy Grail, rather than just giving it away.

The rapper signed a $5 million deal with phone manufacturers Samsung to provide fans with early access to his upcoming album as well as a free download to the rapper/businessman's newest release. Samsung has purchased a million copies of the album that will be distributed amongst a million Samsung smartphone users on July 4th and should the free downloads count in the charts then it will all but guaranteed it a place at No. 1. Only thing is, now that this won't be the case in the UK, will other countries follow suit?

The Official Charts Company said this week: “Music which consumers receive free of charge, either as physical releases or downloads, have never counted towards the Official Charts and this release will be no different. Legitimate purchases of Jay-Z's album will count, however, as usual.”

Pharrell Williams talks about what it was like to return to work on the soundtrack for 'Despicable Me 2'. He discusses his songs 'Happy' and 'Just A Cloud Away' and the new soul direction in a press interview.

'There's a lot of action and there's a lot of ups and downs but overall it was a more happier place', says Pharrell of the new music theme. 'And that's where the song 'Happy' comes from.' He is asked if the fact that the music has much more soul was deliberate. 'They wanted to be more soulful because it matched where they wanted to go', he replied, simply. On the song 'Just A Cloud Away', he has plenty of inspiring words to say. 'That is just the whisper of hope that everyone gets when things are not going right', he says. 'And if you believe in it and you keep pushing forward. then whatever it is, whatever adversity, is just a cloud and the sun is 'just a cloud away'.'

Forget Miley Cyrus' Relationship - Is Her New Single Any Good? [Listen]

Miley Cyrus Liam Hemsworth Mike Will Pharrell Williams Will.i.am

Miley Cyrus has been in the headlines pretty much every day for the past couple of weeks. Her relationship with the Australian actor Liam Hemsworth is said to be on the rocks and her wedding plans in tatters, though the 20-year-old has dusted herself down and premiered the first single from her as-yet-untitled new album.

'We Can't Stop' - co-written by Cyrus, Mike Will and Rock City - is a sort of R&B party anthem that will no doubt feature in the upper echelons of the Billboard chart. Highlight lyrics include Miley wailing, "La-da-di-da-di, we like to party/Dancing with Molly, doing whatever we cant." With a vocal distortion effect, young Miley also says she's "shaking it like we at a strip club" and declares "It's my mouth, I can say what I want to." You sure can Miley, you sure can.

The singer first announced the single on the 'blue carpet' at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, confirming it would be the first single from the follow-up to 2010's Can't Be Tamed, set for release in the fall. "I feel like I can really be myself," Cyrus said of her next record, "I really have more of a connection of who I am, and I feel like I can maybe express that more in my music now."

Rod Stewart, Pharrell, Cee-Lo Green Lined Up To Appear On The Voice USA

Rod Stewart Cee-Lo Green Lady Antebellum Pharrell Williams Robin Thicke

The producers of The Voice USA have arranged a varied line-up of music stars to perform on the show in the coming weeks, Reuters reports. Amongst them is Rod Stewart, who will be performing music from ‘Time,’ his first album of original material in over 10 years. He is scheduled to appear on the show on May 10, according to the report and he will be joined by Cee-Lo Green – formerly a judge on the show. Green is expected to perform his new song ‘Only You.’

On May 14, the show’s organisers have lined up a performance from Lady Antebellum. The Grammy award winners are currently promoting their album Golden and have been invited onto the show; currently one of US TV’s prime spots for promoting artists’ new material. The pop singer Robin Thicke will also be making an appearance on the same show as Lady Antebellum, as will rapper T.I. and singer / producer Pharrell, who recently guested on Daft Punk’s comeback track Get Lucky. The show averages around 14 million viewers across the two weekly shows.

The Voice is currently in its fourth season in the US, having recently drafted in Shakira and Usher to replace Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. The season will draw to a close in June, when a winner will be chosen and rewarded with a recording contract.

Like The Legend Of The Phoenix, Daft Punk Climb To The Top Of The UK Singles Chart

Daft Punk Nile Rodgers Pharrell Williams

Daft Punk's infectious comeback single 'Get Lucky' has shot to the top of the UK Singles Chart over the weekend, with the Pharrell Williams and Nile Rogers-featuring track scoring a first number one hit for the French duo this side of the English Chanel. The reincarnated French maestro's chart success comes eight years since their last chart entry, and is their highest position to date, with their previous best effort 'One More Time' reaching the number two spot in 2000.

It only took a week for the foot-tapping disco-revival track to climb to the top of the charts, with the single entring the chart at number three last wek despite only being available for little over 24-hours. During that 24-hour gap, Spotify announced that 'Get Lucky' had become the most streamed song in the UK and the US over a 24-hour period in the company's five-year history. The streaming service predicts that the band's comeback album, Random Access Memories, will mirror this anticipation and turn out to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, streams of the year when it is released on 20 May (UK).

Daft Punk Sets Record For Spotify Plays With New Single "Get Lucky"

Daft Punk Pharrell Williams Julian Casablancas

The French electronic duo Daft Punk set a record this week with their newest single “Get Lucky”.

The track, which was released as a teaser of the band’s upcoming album, Random Access Memories, due to be released on May 21st, had the biggest streaming day on music service Spotify last Friday, the company reports, although it wouldn’t give the exact number of streams. The previous holder of the record was Thrift Shop by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, which became an internet sensation earlier this year.

Daft Punk’s Get Lucky features rapper/producer Pharrell Williams and the album “Random Access Memories” will reportedly yield some additional exciting collaborations, including ones with including Strokes lead singer Julian Casablancas, Animal Collective’s Noah Lennox, Giorgio Moroder, Todd Edwards, DJ Falcon, Academy Award-winning musician Paul Williams and Chilly Gonzales. Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter have been busy performing and promoting the album ahead of its release, most recently playing a set at the infamous Coachella Music Festival. The official album release party is going to be held in a somewhat odd location though – an agricultural show in Wee Waa, Australia. Hey, we’re not questioning their methods, whatever they’re doing seems to be working out pretty well.

Daft Punk Channel The Essence Of 70s Disco With 'Get Lucky' Ft. Pharrell Williams And Nile Rodgers [Listen]

Daft Punk Pharrell Williams

The world has gone Daft Punk crazy this week. Their track ‘Get Lucky,’ featuring Pharrell and Nile Rodgers was debuted online and it’s gone down pretty well with most DP fans and reviewers. The vocals are unmistakeably Pharrell’s. The guitar riff is unmistakeably Nile’s. ‘Get Lucky’ is a lighter approach to the dance floor than we’re used to from Daft Punk, though (perhaps we’re just not playing it loud enough) as the French duo seem to be taking a more light-footed approach to the dance-floor.

The Guardian describes the track as having “a sort of all-encompassing timelessness to it – the sort of song that could work in a club and at a wedding reception… Get Lucky eschews the crunching electronics of their last album and the vocoder-lead future-disco of Discovery in favour of lithe "funk grooves" (apologies) that seem to have been transported directly from an underlit 70s dancefloor.” Channeling the essence of 70s disco, ‘Get Lucky’ is heavily indebted to Nile Rodgers’ contribution, though Pharrell’s vocal gives it a modern edge.

The track has been officially released on iTunes, ahead of their cleverly-marketed album, Random Access Memories, which is scheduled for release on May 20, 2013. The duo have drafted in even more collaborators for the rest of the album, NME reports, including Giorgio Moroder, Panda Bear, Chilly Gonzales and Todd Edwards.

Demi Moore Still Knows How To Party Like It's 19...89?

Demi Moore Will Ferrell Pharrell Williams Stephen Dorff Naomi Campbell Jeremy Piven Russell Simmons

Demi Moore is saying to all those women who've reached half a century on this earth: go out and have a good time while you still can. And all you naysayers out there who say she shouldn't, well, shut up.

She went out for a wild one in Miami at beachside barbecue, and was joined by Lenny Kravitz and Stacy Kiebler, amongst other cool friends. Her reported toy boy - art dealer Vito Schnabel, the 26-year-old son of artist and director Julian Schnabel - was also there to roll back the years (for her anyway). She was snapped by paps at the venue grinding around in her seat, but she didn't exactly make it difficult for the photo hungry freelancers and general public, as she gamely posed for pics at the reveller's delights. "She is definitely more down to party than Vito," an eyewitness told E! News, saying the two are definitely a couple. According to that source, the two were publicly making out at the event. The party at Miami's Soho Beach House was apparently sponsored by Chanel for Art.sy, and Will Ferrell, Stephen Dorff, Russell Simmons, Pharrell Williams,Naomi Campbell, Jeremy Piven and Adriana Lima were among other faces in the crowd.

Moore has come under some stick recently for dating someone just over half her age, and, the fact that her 24 year old daughter was snuggled up in bed cuddling one of her favourite pooches, has seemed to direct a lot of abuse to her for going out and having fun. We at Contact Music say go for it, sister.

Rihanna 777 Tour Update: From Paris With Love

Rihanna Sean Combs Akon Pharrell Williams

Rihanna hit stop four on her 777 world tour, where the singer hits seven cities across the globe in seven different countries in, yeah you guessed it, seven days, when she hit up Paris last night.

The Parisians in attendance were in for quite a treat when RiRi hit the stage at Le Trianon, and those at the after party were in for an even bigger treat as the Barbadian beauty partied the night away with some famous faces and a few fans too. With P Diddy (who she casually bumped into at the airport - as you do), Akon and Pharrell Williams in attendance, Rihanna outshone the party she threw on day 3 in Stockholm, the party where she gave out shots of tequila for her waiting fans, by quite some way.

The 'Diamonds' singer is practically running on empty, flying between countries with as much emphasis on partying as hard as can be as she has on actually performing. Still, when she stopped off at the shops of Paris before her performance she wasn't buying Pro-Plus, but instead she went shopping for some sexy lingerie! You have to think what goes through that sleep-depraved girl's mind sometimes.

Solange Knowles gives big sister Beyonce a run for her money in a glam yellow Marni dress and sporting a quirky afro hairstyle. Singer Pharrell Williams also shows his quirks in adding his own stamp the traditional tuxedo/bow tie ensemble with black beanie, an oversized bow tie and knee length black shorts.

Stylist Rachel Zoe goes for a totally unrevealing black, sparkly number with a matching clutch bag and 'The Notorious Bettie Page' star Gretchen Mol dons a pastel coloured calf-length frock with unmatching strappy ankle length heels
