"A single airplay, nothing," the singer said of the track, which was released last November. "And the next thing you know, we put out the video on November 21st and all of a sudden. Boom," Williams continued, gesturing an explosion with his hands.

"When I say 'boom,' I mean boom," he revealed, adding "and we were like, 'what' happening?' First of all people are putting up their own videos. It was no longer my song." Oprah then shared a montage of Pharrell fans young and old from countries all over the word performing their own routines to his uplifting track.

The clip finished rolling but the 41 year-old performer was so beside himself with tears of joy that he could barely speak. "It makes me cry too!" exclaimed Oprah, patting her emotional guest comfortingly before handing him a kleenex.

"Why am I crying on Oprah?" giggled the father-of-one through his streaming tears. Oprah replied "Y'know, [the song] is being used for something greater than yourself - I get that." "It's overwhelming because it's like, I love what I do and I just appreciate the fact that like, people like believed in me for so long that I could make it to this point," sobbed Pharrell.

During the rest of the interview, Williams, who was wearing one of his many distinctive Vivienne Westwood hats, discussed his rise to fame, his song-writing process and the music that influenced him to become a seven-time Grammy winning recording artist and producer.

"My best songs come from two different ways," he sais. "Either when I have a really good gut feeling about something, it's written in the shower or on a plane." "Shower's good, isn't it?" Oprah said. 'There's something about the water."

"The water attracts your ear," he agreed, adding "You get distracted, and your mind wanders."
