A video from the scene shows Irish actor Brosnan looking on as the fire crews responded to the fire.

Coincidentally, Brosnan, 61, only recently appeared in a Super Bowl ad for car manufacturer Kia in which he pulls up his car in front of a cabin that explodes into flames.

Brosnan's home, where he lives with his wife Keely Shaye Smith, is situated in one of Malibu's most exclusive ocean-front drives. His "Balinese-inspired" property comes with separate guest accommodation  and is just down the street from houses owned by Steven Spielberg, Dustin Hoffman and Danny DeVito.

Brosnan has numerous movies in some form of development, with thriller No Escape coming first on September 2, 2015. It co-stars Owen Wilson and tells the story of an American family who finds themselves caught in the middle of a coup in their new overseas home.
