For the second year running, hip-hop star Pitbull, real name Armando Christian Perez, will host the prestigious American Music Awards on November 23rd, where he will also treat the audience with a performance of a song from his upcoming album 'Globalization.'

Jennifer Lopez is here to remind you that age is nothing but a number. The 44-year-old singer/actress/judge/entrepreneur and pretty much anything else you can think of looks gorgeous on the newly revealed cover for her upcoming tenth studio album A.K.A. Besides sporting the kind of red leather ensemble that calls back to certain Rihanna videos, Lopez is keen to make the point that she’s still the same Jenny from the block we’ve known and loved for decades.

Fifteen years in, Jennifer Lopez is still a cultural icon.

"Music has always been my first love," Lopez said in a press release for E!News. "As a girl who grew up in the Bronx, I listened to everything. In my career I have always made music that is a reflection of me and where I am in my life. I do what I feel and do things that feel authentic to me. I am a lot of different things and I do a lot of different things. I love hip-hop, pop, dance music and R&B. And on this, my 10th album release, I have created a collection of songs that make me feel good and make me feel happy."

Originally set up by Dick Clarke in 1973 after ABC lost its rights to air the Grammy Awards, The American Music Awards has since become one of the most biggest nights in showbiz in the US and has established itself as a standalone prize in its own right. The A-listers took to the the red carpet in force on Sunday, 24 November for the 41st annual AMAs at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre where many a surprise was had, and plenty of prizes were given out.

Hosted by rapper Pitbull, the 41st incarnation of the awards saw Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the nominations poll with six mentions, with Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake falling behind with five, and it was these two who would eventually go on to leave the Nokia Theatre with the most awards for the night.

Ok, The Voice finale happened last night (June 18), there were winners and there were losers, etc, but can we pause for a second to talk about Christina Aguilera and her whole performance? Now, if we’re being honest, Christina Aguilera hasn’t really been around that much since about 2010. Remember when she used to sing about her Candyman’s sweet, sweet love and the deep misery of her heart in skimpy, sequined outfits? Those were the days.

But Ms Aguilera’s stock might still be on the rise, as she so clearly demonstrated with her latest appearance on the reality format. Christina and The Voice go way back, but this time she returned in a whole new light. She sang her single 'Feel This Moment' alongside eternal collaborator to pretty much anyone, Pitbull and ok, 'Feel This Moment' is a remix of a much older tune and a collaboration with Pitbull is often the final refuge of the fading celebrity, but Christina certainly showed that she still has the singing chops needed for the job.

The energy of that performance was pretty impressive – we don’t know what Adam Levine and co. had to say about it, but they probably approved. All in all, it looks like all Aguilera needs are a few good songwriters and a quality producer and her fortunes may just change. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Christina was great, the performance was solid and she looked stunning in that outfit. At this point, that might be all Aguilera fans can hope for.

The Kids Choice Awards happened last night and they came with a whole lot of the traditional sliming.

Whether you go home with one of the blimp-shaped trophies or not, everyone’s a winner at the KCA, as long as they manage to avoid the sliming – which most of the A-list attendees didn’t do, as you might imagine. The first person to get a face full of the green goop was none other than rapper Pitbull himself, after he and Christina Aguilera opened the show with their song “Feel This Moment” along with a gang of mini-Me backup dancers. The performance went without a hitch, if you don’t count Aguilera sneakily sliming her co-star at the end of the show.

Johnny Depp and Kristen Stewart were among those honoured with an award – for favorite movie actor and favorite movie actress/female butt-kicker respectively. Remarkably, both of them managed a narrow escape from the sliming (well, almost). When accepting her award, Kristen commented: "Dude, I was too much of a coward to accept this," she exclaimed from the stage at the University of Southern California's Galen Center.

Taylor Swift will not play live at the Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, despite the institution racking up a serious amount of votes in a competition the country star was running in collaboration with 4Chan and Reddit.

Swift vowed to play a free concert at the school that received the most online votes, though an ironic campaign saw the deaf school in contention. Now, Swift, her management and the contest sponsors have removed the school from the contest because of the way it obtained its votes, reports The Guardian. School principal Jeremiah Ford told the Boston Globe that Swift will instead donate $10,000 to the intuition, adding, “Are we the winner? Absolutely.” The competition attracted attention in August, with some critics accusing organizers of being insensitive towards the hearing-impaired community. Principal Ford publicly welcomed the opportunity for one of the world’s biggest country-pop stars to perform at the school, in a bid to improve awareness. VH1’s Save The Music program has also donated $10,000 worth of instruments to the school.

A far more humorous trolling campaign earlier this year saw rapper Pitbull exiled to the most remote Walmart in the US as part of a contest to get him to perform at whichever store received the most Facebook likes.
