
Pixie Lott (born Victoria Louise Lott, 12.1.1991) Pixie Lott is a Brit Award-nominated singer and songwriter. She rose to fame with the release of her debut single, 'Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)', which went straight to number one.
Childhood: Pixie Lott was born in Bromley, in South East London. Her father is a stockbroker and her mother is a housewife. She was nicknamed Pixie by her mother when she was a baby.
As a child, Pixie sang in her school choir, and attended the Italia Conti Associates Saturday School in Chislehurst from the age of five. She then went on to attend the main Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, after being awarded a scholarship there.
As a student, she appeared in a West End production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Pixie also appeared in the BBC's Celebrate the Sound of Music, playing the role of Louisa von Trapp.
Aged 14, Pixie Lott performed as part of the chorus line for the opera Ca Ira, by Roger Waters, formerly of Pink Floyd.
Music Career: Pixie Lott made a breakthrough when L.A. Reid signed her to the Def Jam group, when she was just 15 years old. However, when she changed her manager, she eventually changed her record contract, and signed to Mercury Records (UK) and Interscope Records (US).
Lott's debut festival appearance was at 2009's Isle of Wight Festival, during her debut UK tour, in which she supported The Saturdays.
Pixie Lott's debut single was 'Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)', released in June 2009. The single went straight to umber one on the UK singles chart as well as the iTunes chart, selling over 50,000 copies and being certified platinum in August 2009.
That same month, Pixie Lott had performed at the MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia, along with Kasabian and Dizzee Rascal.
Pixie Lott's next single, 'Boys and Girls', was released in September 2009 and became another number one for her. The single was followed by her debut album, entitled Turn It Up. The album was awarded 'gold' status the following month.
The third single to be released from Turn It Up was 'Cry Me Out'. The video for the single was directed by Jake Nava, who has made a name for himself directing videos for Beyoncé, Leona Lewis and Shakira.
Pixie Lott has written tracks for other artists, including Lisa Hordijk (the winner of the Dutch X Factor) and Alexandra Burke.
Lott has also made a number of TV appearances, in productions such as Alan Carr: Chatty Man, Loose Women and Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.
