Fact: Opera great Placido Domingo returned to the stage for the first time since his recent hospitalisation on Tuesday (06Aug13). The tenor underwent treatment in his native Spain in July (13) after suffering a pulmonary embolism, but the 72 year old performed in a concert version of Verdi's Giovanna d'Arco at the Salzburg Festival in Austria, alongside soprano Anna Netrebko.

Fact: Opera star Dame Kiri Te Kanawa will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the upcoming Classical Brit Awards. The New Zealand-born soprano follows in the footsteps of other music legends including JOSE CARRERAS and Placido Domingo who have previously been presented with the prize. The ceremony will take place in London on 13 May (10).
