On Tuesday (Sept 9th), Prince Charles spoke publically for the first time since Kensington Palace announced the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is pregnant for a second time, and said he couldn't be more "thrilled" for her and Prince William.

Prince Charles is "thrilled" to become a grandfather once again

While attending a Prince's Trust event in south London, Charles also revealed that he hopes his son and Kate become parents to a baby daughter this time around, and how "wonderful" it will be to become a grandfather once again.

"It's not here yet!" he said to well-wishers at the event. "No, it's wonderful, we are very happy. It's splendid, very exciting." He added, "I'm happy I'm going to be a grandfather again. I'm looking forward to it - but I hope it will be a girl this time."

On Monday (Sept 8th), Kensington Palace released a statement, which read, "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child. The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news."

However, in the midst of the exciting news Kate was being treated in the Palace for hyperemesis gravidarum - acute morning sickness, which she suffered from during her first pregnancy.

"As with her first pregnancy, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum," the statement continued. "Her Royal Highness will no longer accompany The Duke of Cambridge on their planned engagement in Oxford today. The Duchess is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace."

The Royal family's new addition will become the younger sibling to Prince George, who was only born just over a year ago on the morning of 22nd July, 2013.
