Prince will be bringing his Hit & Run tour to U.K shores. He’ll play "iconic venues in and around London", after arriving on 3 February, according to a statement, while the dates are in support of a new album, PlectrumElectrum, recorded with his all-female band, 3rdEyeGirl.

Tickets are likely to be in high demand for the Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret and Cream singer, whose live shows have been praised for their frenetic showpieces and electric energy. "Details about the event are very hush-hush at this time but as we find out more, you will be the 2nd ones to know," said a press release.

The press conference, in which we’ll find out the exact dates and locations, will be held from Lianne LaHavas’s flat in London. LaHavas won a Mercury Prize nomination for her debut album Is Your Love Big Enough? "This 24-year-old singer-songwriter met Prince last year during LaHavas' tour of America," the press release explained.

"They jammed together at Prince's Paisley Park Studio in Minneapolis and have kept in touch ever since. "When Prince told Lianne he was coming to London to launch his new project, Ms LaHavas jokingly offered her flat as the location for the press conference."

Prince’s last British jaunt UK was at the Hop Farm Festival in July 2011. Before that that he had played a record-breaking 21-date residency at the O2 arena in 2007. The formidable rock star has produced ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles during his career long and illustrious career.

The 55-year-old singer has been touring with 3RDEYEGIRL in North America and has been distributing new music via the band's website since last year.
