Queen drummer Roger Taylor is hoping for a reunion with the band's former frontman Paul Rodgers as part of next year's (12) London Olympic Games.
Rodgers took on vocal duties alongside Taylor and guitarist Brian May for five years from 2004 under the name Queen + Paul Rodgers, following the death of original frontman Freddie Mercury in 1991.
The collaboration ended in May, 2009, and the trio hasn't played together since - but now Taylor is keen to reteam with the singer for a "special" event such as the 2012 sporting extravaganza.
Taylor tells Rolling Stone, "I wouldn't rule it out. In fact I read the other day Paul said he wouldn't mind doing something. If something came up as special, we could maybe do that, maybe the Olympics or something.
"I certainly wouldn't rule it out and he is a wonderful singer, there's no doubt about that."
Queen could fill a spot vacated by the Rolling Stones after Mick Jagger recently dismissed speculation the classic rockers would kick off their 40th anniversary celebrations with a performance at the Olympics.
