Quentin Tarantino has dropped the strongest hint yet that he’s determined to quit his directing career after making two more movies, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Speaking at the Adobe Max conference in San Diego on Thursday (November 3rd), the 53 year old maestro said of his plans after his next two films that he would: “Drop the mic. Boom. Tell everybody, ‘Match that s***’.”

Quentin Tarantino previously claimed that he wants to retire once he has completed his 10th film and it appears the director’s plan still stands, for the most part. Last year he released his eighth film, The Hateful Eight, which means we have just two offerings left, although he’s not ruling out the idea of making more later in life.

Quentin Tarantino has been discussing his plans to only make 10 movies.

Speaking at the Jerusalem Film Festival on Tuesday (July 12), Tarantino said: “I’m planning on stopping at 10. So it’ll be two more. Even if at 75, if I have this other story to tell, it would still kind of work because that would make those 10.”

Leonardo DiCaprio may have made most of the headlines with his first Oscar win after five nominations for Best Actor, but perhaps just as significant was the triumph of Ennio Morricone, the legendary soundtrack composer who won his first statuette at the age of 87.

The Italian maestro has notched up more than 500 movie credits throughout his lengthy career, but finally struck gold on Sunday night as he collected the Oscar for Best Original Score to add to the Golden Globe he picked up for the same work he did for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.

Unlike World War II thriller 'Inglourious Basterds' or martial-acts cult film 'Kill Bill', he admits there are no more genres he's desperate to re-create. However, he would like to do another gangster movie, this time based in the 1930s; 'That kind of John Dillinger thing', he says.

Three major UK cinema chains, Cineworld, Picturehouse and Curzon cinemas won’t be showing Quentin Tarantino’s highly anticipate new film The Hateful Eight, when it is released on January 8th. The decision is due to a ‘last-minute’ dispute with the film’s distributor which has prevented it coming to the three chains.

The Hateful Eight is not coming to three major UK cinema chains.

After the film was noticeably absent from Cineworld’s list of upcoming films, some customers tweeted the chain’s official twitter account, who replied saying they’d ‘been unable to come to an agreement with the film's distributor.’

In The Hateful Eight, Kurt Russell plays bounty hunter John Ruth, who captures fugitive Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who’s wanted dead or alive for murder. But in order to make sure his captive doesn't escape John chains himself to Daisy, meaning on set the two actors couldn't get away from each other either.

To Russell, being chained to another person seemed easy when he read the script, until filming began. “That was rough,” Russell said of the experience. “That was different when I read it, I didn’t think anything of it. I though OK we’re chained together.”

This is a movie that almost never happened, as Tarantino once scrapped the entire project when the script was leaked online. Then when he gathered a group of actors to read it publicly, be decided to make the film after all.

"The starting point was the idea of taking eight characters that you cannot trust at all - you cannot take anything they say at face value," Tarantino explains. "Whatever they say they are, you can't trust that. Who they even think they are, or present themselves to be, you can't trust that. Then during the course of the movie, everyone, to one degree or another, has something about their past revealed, but you can't even trust that!"

Ahead of the widespread theatrical release of Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie The Hateful Eight in British cinemas in the new year, one of the film’s stars, Tim Roth, spoke to us at its European premiere earlier this month.

Roth starred in both of Tarantino’s first two major films, Reservoir Dogs (1992) and Pulp Fiction (1994), which are both arguably still most people’s favourites among all of his films. The Hateful Eight therefore sees Roth work with the great director for the first time in over two decades, and we asked him what the differences were in Tarantino’s work then and now.

Quentin Tarantino has blasted Disney studios for what he has labelled “extortionist practices” in their refusal to allow one of the cinemas they’ve booked for Star Wars screenings in Los Angeles to be relinquished for a day to show his new movie The Hateful Eight.

Appearing on the Howard Stern show on SiriusXFM, Tarantino says that he and his distributors The Weinstein Company had previously come to a verbal agreement with Disney to allow the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood to be free to show a 70mm version of The Hateful Eight, which opens on December 25th in the States, for a two week run.

Ennio Morricone, the legendary composer who has written the scores for many classic movies, has admitted that he was “shocked” by the amount of violence in Quentin Tarantino’s new film The Hateful Eight, for which he has provided the soundtrack.

Tarantino has used pieces of Morricone music in his movies before, but the imminently released project constitutes the first time that the Italian composer has written original material specifically for one of his movies. Speaking to The Telegraph at an event at London’s Abbey Road Studios, he spoke of his motivation for working with Tarantino.

According to Collider, Amber Tamblyn and Zoe Bell read the roles of Daisy and 'Six Horse Judy' respectively during the live-read of the script. It's unknown how much work Lawrence needs to do on Mockinjay - Part 2 though the main scheduling clash may involve David O. Russell's 'Joy', in which Lawrence has signed onto play Miracle Mop founder Joy Mangano. Both that movie and The Hateful Eight are scheduled for release in 2015.

Bieber Banged Up For Druggy Drag Racing: Justin Bieber has just had the mother of all terrible fortnights. The recalcitrant popstar was under investigation for a vicious egg attack on his neighbor's home by police who discovered drugs upon raiding Bieber's abode. The 'Baby' singer headed snowboarding with his equally rebellious chums with the threat of deportment looming. The singer was then arrested yesterday for DUI and drag racing in Miami.

Bieber showed what a true hard-ass he really was when police stopped him and he immediately snitched on himself, saying he was drunk and high on weed and prescription medication. The 19 year-old was released from a Miami jail an hour after a Miami judge, set a "standard" $2,500 bond Thursday afternoon. The widely-circulated mugshot shows the fallen star grinning ear-to-ear in his orange prison v-neck, prompting Seth Rogen to brand him "a piece of s**t."

Vinnie Jones, the Welsh footballer turned actor who now lives next door to Quentin Tarantino in Los Angeles, plays golf six times a week and has crisps shipped in from the UK, has blasted England's immigration policy, calling the country "past its sell-by date."

The 48-year-old, best known for Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, told the Radio Times that he could never be tempted back to Britain.

"There's nothing to come back to here. To me, England is past its sell-by date," he told the magazine. "It's not the country I grew up in. It's a European country now. If someone blindfolded you and put you on a plane in LA, and you landed at Heathrow and they took it off, you wouldn't have a clue where you were."

The widely acclaimed crime novelist Elmore Leonard died at his home on Tuesday (August 20, 2013) of complications from a stroke. His novels include the Edgar Award-winning La Brava, Out of Sight and numerous stories turned into big screen movies Get Shorty and Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown. 

The latter tale, adapted from Leonard's Rum Punch, appeared perfect for Tarantino in his post-Pulp Fiction era, and he cleverly cast Pam Grier - the star of Coffy and Foxy Brown - in the lead role.

It's supporting cast including Robert De Niro, Samuel L Jackson, Bridget Fonda and Michael Keaton, though Grier and Robert Foster were the real treats. Jackie Brown revitalized both actors' careers, with the former landing a Golden Globe nomination and the latter scoring an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

He performed on Tuesday (July 9th) and opened his set with 'Feel California', a new song which he wanted to test out with the crowd whilst he was on tour. Her show Scandal is one of the most thrilling shows on TV at the moment, and the critics have lauded praise over her. Last year She told Elle: "I’m the luckiest broad in Hollywood now... To be the lead actor on Scandal and to be in the highest-earning [Quentin] Tarantino movie [Django Unchained] - I don’t get to ask for more. I was not that girl [growing up]. "They were very anti-American, the jury. But I kept saying that American films are watched all over the world. This cut no ice with a few bolshy women on the jury," Frears told the BBC ahead of the Festival this week, "I don't know, you try and behave sensibly. I hear all those stories about people manipulating things, but there didn't seem to be any of that. There were no orders from above - nobody tried to interfere, but there were a few basic rules which you had to follow," he added.

I didn't write notes but I had a friend with me and she and I would discuss the film afterwards." On whether he still recognised that he had chosen the best movie in competition, Frears was unequivocal, saying, "Oh yes, it was a wonderful, original film. I'm sure it benefitted from winning, it was a very accessible film. I'm sure if you spoke to distributors, I'm sure they would say Michael Haneke's film [2012 Palme d'Or and Oscar-winner] Amour has done really well."

With China emerging as the largest international market for Hollywood cinema, Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained had a huge stance to boost its worldwide box office gross, before it was suddenly cancelled.

"We got the notice from our headquarters around 10:00 a.m. this morning but it was too late to cancel two viewings," said an official at one of several Shanghai theatres contacted. “We were only told that it was due to some technology problems and were told to cancel it. They didn't tell us when the film would be shown again." The Chinese government censors all movies before they can be released, and by their standards, Django would take some serious work. Nudity, politically contentious content and extreme violence are things they look for. And we’re guessing Tarantino’s slave revenge film was called up on all three, even though he thought he’d made the necessary changes. Some reports even suggest the film started playing before they pulled the plug, with some Chinese bloggers writing up the situation on their personal sites.

Will Smith has finally opened up on his Django Unchained role that never was, saying he refused to play the character of Django as he wasn’t the lead in the film. But was this a blessing in disguise?

He initially said "I was in the middle of Men in Black 3 and [Tarantino] was ready to go, and I just couldn't sit with him and get through the issues, so I didn't want to hold him up." But now Smith has revealed the real reason, his ego! “Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead!” he tells Entertainment Weekly. “I was like, ‘No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!’” And while many people will be putting their tongue behing their bottom gum and making this noise: “uuuuhh”, he’s actually right. Django may have been marketed as the lead character, but Christoph Waltz as Dr. King Schultz was considered by many film fanatics to be the genuine lead, despite the fact he won Best Supporting actor at the Oscars. Smith loved the film though. He said, “I thought it was brilliant. Just not for me.”

There was always a sneaking suspicion that Seth Macfarlane as Oscars host wouldn't go down well. His cheeky (smarmy) grin and risky (lewd) jokes aren't exactly in-sync with the Academy’s ethos. It was the ‘We Saw Your Boobs’ song that really brought it home.

But with seven nominations at this years MTV Movie Awards – matched only by Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained – MacFarlane seems to have found his true audience. Ted, like Django is up for Movie of the Year and Best Fight amongst others, and is expected to pick up a few awards come April 14th. Ted star Mila Kunis – who recently made everyone love her by just talking to someone about normal things - is up for Best Female Performance alongside Oscar-winning Silver Linings Playbook actress Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway in Les Miserables, Emma Watson in The Perks of Being A Wallflower and Australian comedian Rebel Wilson, who will host the show. Watson said of being nominated: "I am so excited to have been nominated for three MTV Movie Awards for Perks of Being a Wallflower! I love the show and I love this movie! I'm so thrilled."

A mixed week for US albums releases; old classics given an airing, a major movie soundtrack launched and hip-hop arTIsts new and old having a stab at chart success. Currently, the top of the US album chart is dominated by Taylor Swift, who’s back at the top with Red, Wiz Khalifa, riding high at number two with O.N.F.C. and Rod Stewart’s festive compilation album, Merry Christmas, Baby.

Eric Clapton’s Slowhand gets a 35th anniversary reissue, having been remastered from the original “1/4 tape. There are four album session outtakes, entitled ‘Looking at the Rain,’ ‘Alberta,’ ‘Greyhound Bus,’ and ‘Stars, Strays and Ashtrays.’ A second disc contains a live performance at London’s Hammersmith Odeon, from April 27, 1977.

One for the completists, then – and more a case of Clapton’s record label rubbing their hands in glee at a cash in, than any real significant moment in his career. The re-release of Slowhand has hardly set the music press alight and we probably don’t need to fetch any fire blankets for the albums chart, either.

Movie director Quentin Tarantino has defended violence in movies following Friday's school shootings in Newton, Connecticut, which left 26 dead. The Django Unchained director said he was tired of defending his films each time the U.S. is shaken by gun violence, saying, "tragedies happen," reports BBC News.

His lead actor Jamie Foxx said big screen violence can certainly influence people, telling press at a junket in New York, "We cannot turn our back and say that violence in films or anything that we do doesn't have a sort of influence. It does." Django Unchained follows the story of a slave living in the Deep South, who sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner, played by Leonardo Dicaprio. Kerry Washington - who plays Foxx's on-screen wife - said, "I do think that it's important when we have the opportunity to talk about violence and not just kind of have it as entertainment, but connect it to the wrongs, the injustices, the social ills." 20 children and six women died in the assault on Sandy Hook school by a lone gunman - thought to be Adam Lanza, 20 - last week. He shot dead his mother before driving to the school in her car.

Premieres for Tom Cruise's new violent action flick Jack Reacher were cancelled in light of the events in Newton, while the Fox network cancelled forthcoming episodes of Family Guy and American Dad.

Well, the answer is yes and no, really. Django Unchained star Samuel L Jackson appeared on the comedy show this past weekend to promote Quentin Tarantino's latest movie, but things nearly went oh so wrong.

Pretending to be annoyed at being interrupted during the mock talk show 'What's Up With That?', Jackson half uttered an F-bomb, before stopping himself. Playing the host of the game, comedian Kenan Thompson looked startled, cracked a smile and said, "C'mon, Sam. That costs money!" to the delight of the live studio audience. Moments after the show had aired, Jackson attempted to explain himself on Twitter "I only said FUH," he insisted, before tweeting a photograph of himself looking mortified. Cursing on the comedy show is a rarity, with Jenny Slate being the last cast member to swear nearly four years ago. On that occasion she accidentally said f*cking instead of freaking. Hopefully Sam won't be repeating the stunt when he appears on the Today Show on Monday (December 17, 2012). Now that would be embarrassing. 

His new movie Django Unchained hits theaters in the U.S. this weekend, and still boasts a perfect 100% score on review aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes.

Well, it was about time. The school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut that occurred on Friday and, as the nation mourns the victims, the debates about violence in the media are just beginning.

The latest person to comment on this is actor Jamie Foxx, who, a bit ironically, stars in Django Unchained – Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming flick about slavery, which will feature quite a lot of explicit and violent scenes. While promoting the film on Saturday, the star braved the difficult topic, saying that Hollywood can no longer ignore the fact that on-screen violence influences people on some level.

"We cannot turn our back and say that violence in films or anything that we do doesn't have a sort of influence. It does," Fox said in an interview. Meanwhile, director Quentin Tarantino, who is known for his extremely violent and gory scenes, which are all part of his signature style, is once again struggling to defend his artistic freedom. Tarantino went on a bit of a tangent, explaining that he was tired of defending his films each time the nation was shocked by gun violence. He stated that “tragedies happen” and that blame should fall on those guilty of the crimes.

In New York, Leonardo Dicaprio, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Johnson and a bald-shaven Christoph Waltz attended the premiere of Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, joking with the photographers as they posed for them. And Tarantino even turned up with his Kill Bill star Uma Thurman on his arm.

Meanwhile in London, the first part in Peter Jackson's new trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, had its royal film performance this week with much of the cast in attendance, including Martin Freeman, Cate Blanchett and Ian McKellen, who watched the film alongside Prince William. The film is in cinemas now, with the following chapters scheduled for next Christmas and the summer of 2014.

With The Golden Globes nominees being announced, and the Screen Actors Guild ones just a few days before, if you were refusing to believe this was awards season, then you better believe we're smack bang in the middle of it.

Silver Linings Playbook represents one of the more lighthearted Oscar hopefuls, despite the fact it deals with subjects like bi-polar disorder and death. Sombre topics indeed, but the film is very much marketed as a romantic comedy, with a specific brand of 'funny'. 

Four Golden Globe nominations for best comedy or musical, actor and actress nominations for Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, and a Best Screenplay one increase Oscar hype for the film, and considering films like Lincoln, Life of Pi and The Master are in contention, Silver Linings might be the light dose of comedic relief needed.

The Golden Globes have just announced their nominees for their forthcoming awards shows. Alongside the recently announced Screen Actors Guild and Critics Choice Awards, the Globes are generally believed to be a good indicator as to whose going to fare well at the all-important Oscar Awards next year.

In keeping with those other recent nominations, Lincoln is once again leading the way with seven nomination, including a best actor nod for its star Daniel Day-Lewis. Surely the Oscar is already his. A lot of other usual suspects also feature heavily, including Django Unchained, Argo, Zero Dark Thirty and Les Miserables. Rust And Bone will be disappointed to miss out on the best picture category, whilst Richard Gere makes a perhaps surprise appearance in the best actor category.

It's been a relatively quiet year for both Tom Hanks and Will Smith, though both teamed up for the Governor's Awards 2012 on Saturday evening (December 1, 2012). Producers of the show had enlisted the Hollywood giants to present DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg with the first Oscar of awards' season.

Katzenberg received an honorary award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science for his humanitarian work. Smith introduced the revered producer, while Hanks gave fitting speech about the CEO's generosity and his fundraising efforts after the 9/11 attacks. "Jeffrey Katzenberg doesn't have to do any of these things. But Jeffrey Katzenberg cannot help but to do all of these things - it is in his DNA. Jeffrey Katzenberg is a brilliant man, a hardworking man, a visionary and one of the most powerful men (in Hollywood)." Joking about his time spent with Katzenberg, Hanks added, "It's not just the invitation to breakfast. It's the lunch that lasts exactly 47 minutes. It's the follow-up phone call. It's the tour of the facility. It's the follow-up phone call. It's the letter to remind you of the phone call and the tour of the facility. And finally, it's the contribution you make."

Elsewhere at the ceremony, Quentin Tarantino gave a speech for stuntman Hal Needham, who revolutionized the stunt business by appearing in 310 feature films. "He is the man," said the Django Unchained director, "Before he became a director, he pushed the boundaries of what could be done.I have ripped off many shots from you. Today, I say thank you very much."

Leonardo Dicaprio and Erin Heatherton have called time on their relationship after ten-months together.

Leo and Victoria's Secret model Erin are said to have decided on an amicable split and just decided that the time was right to move on, a source told US Weekly. The unidentified source said, "They split a few weeks ago. There's no bad blood -- they still care about each other a lot. It was just time to move on."

DiCaprio, who will next be seen in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, and Erin were first rumoured to be dating when they were spotted sight-seeing in Sydney, Australia, whilst the actor was filming The Great Gatsby in December 2011. As the months went on, the prospect that 'this might be the one' for Leo looked all the more likely, however now it seems that another one has been thrown in the pile and DiCapro, 37, will be returning to bachelor life.

Denzel Washington’s latest film, Flight, has garnered much praise already – and for all the right reasons too – with Washington already tipped for Oscar glory for his staring role.

The film itself, directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by John Gatins, tells the story of an airline pilot who saves a flight from crashing, however the post-flight investigation into the plane’s malfunctions reveals some worrying revelations. Washington stars as said pilot, Whip Whitaker, who on top of being a veteran of his trade is also a serious alcoholic. The film also stars Bruce Greenwood as the character Charlie Anderson.

Whilst still a newcomer to the box office, critics look as though they can’t get enough of Washington and his performance, and betting sites have already placed the double-Oscar winner among the top contenders to achieve Oscar glory at next years ceremony.
