Quentin Tarantino’s latest movie The Hateful Eight has drawn a fair amount of controversy in the build-up to its release, what with reports of a police boycott of the movie and the director’s criticism of Disney over screen clashes with Star Wars.

However, it’s now time that the director was afforded a few words about the movie itself, as he spoke exclusively to Contactmusic at the European premiere. When asked about what it was like to work with the cast, which boasted a number of familiar faces [Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth] as well as a few new ones to his films [Jennifer Jason Leigh, Demian Bechir], he expressed immense satisfaction.

One of New York City’s biggest newspapers is taking sides in the uproar over Quentin Tarantino’s comments about cops. The New York Post has run an editorial piece accusing the director of “trolling” police unions in order to sell tickets for his upcoming movie.

The paper has previously called on Tarantino to apologise for the comments made at a rally nearly a fortnight ago, in which he addressed the crowd and called cops who shoot unarmed black and Hispanic people as “murderers”. The Reservoir Dogs director spoke on MSNBC earlier this week to clarify his position, but the new editorial has essentially seen the Post entrench its position.

Under-fire director Quentin Tarantino has dismissed claims that he is a “cop hater” and fired back at the ringleaders of the proposed boycotts of his movies, nearly a fortnight after he attended an anti-police violence rally in New York City.

In a frank interview with the LA Times on Wednesday (November 4th), the director denied the accusations levelled against him by police unions. “I'm not being intimidated. Frankly, it feels lousy to have a bunch of police mouthpieces call me a cop hater. I'm not a cop hater. That is a misrepresentation. That is slanderous. That is not how I feel.”

Two more organisations representing police forces in the U.S. have joined the NYPD union’s call for a boycott on Quentin Tarantino’s movies, after the director was heavily criticising for attending an anti-police violence rally and describing some officers as “murderers”.

Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association in New York which represents the NYPD, first floated the idea of a general boycott of the director’s films early this week, after Tarantino made the comments in New York less than a week after an officer was gunned down in the line of duty. That call now seems to be gaining support, with two more forces supporting it this week.

A union associated with the New York Police Department has hit back at Quentin Tarantino after the director addressed an anti-cop rally in the city at the weekend, calling for a boycott on his films.

The Hateful Eight director, 52, appeared at anti-police demonstration in Washington Square Park on Saturday (October 24th) and gave a short speech to the assembled crowd, in which he accused the police of too often being “murderers”. The words were particularly inflammatory, as they came less than a week after an NYPD officer was killed on duty.

“When I see murders, I do not stand by… I have to call the murderers the murderers,” Tarantino said. Despite admitting that the timing of the protest was unfortunate, he nevertheless insisted that people had travelled from around the country to be part of it and that it should go ahead, according to the New York Post.

Tarantino touched on the Western genre with 2012's 'Django Unchained', of course, but that was more about illicit slavery than country outlaws; there's usually humour to the Oscar winning director's work despite the shameless brutality of it, but 'Django' gave us something serious to think about. 'The Hateful Eight' is just plain enjoyable, bounty hunter, sweary (thanks to Samuel L. Jackson) fun, that everyone should be excited for come winter.

Director Quentin Tarantino has revealed he’s not yet moved into the 21st century when it comes to movie watching. While many of the director’s classic films are available for streaming on Netflix, when it comes to his own viewing Tarantino has said he prefers an old fashioned DVD or an even older VHS tape.

Pulp Fiction has long since passed into the annals of movie history, confirming its director Quentin Tarantino as one of the modern greats of cinema and becoming arguably the biggest cult film of the 1990s. But, according to leaked documents, it could have looked very different indeed, as it turns out that many of its stars may not have been Tarantino’s first choices for their respective roles.

His wishlist – which has not yet been officially confirmed as genuine by Tarantino’s reps – was leaked via Reddit on Tuesday (September 15th) and makes for extremely interesting reading. Consisting of two sheets of hand-typed paper, the biggest revelation is that John Travolta, who received an Oscar nomination for his role as gangster Vincent Vega, was not Tarantino’s first choice. Rather, he originally wanted Michael Madsen – who of course did star in his first movie Reservoir Dogs just two years before – to play the part.

Ennio Morricone is set to write the score for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. He is best known for composing music for a number of Italian (Spaghetti) Westerns including the Dollars Trilogy, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and Once Upon a Time in the West. The 86-year-old Italian composer is returning to writing film scores after eight years away but it has been more than forty years since he worked on a Western.

In case it wasn't clear already, Quentin Tarantino loves movies. He's talked on many occasions about his love for the Spaghetti-Western genre, which has led many people to wonder what a Tarantino-directed Spaghetti-Western would look like. Sure, we had 2012's 'Django Unchained' to give us a brief glimpse at the idea, but that was racial revenge story first, and a Western second. When Tarantino announced his 8th film, 'The Hateful Eight', back in November 2013, fans worldwide jumped for joy.

A jump that may have been a little premature, as the project was cancelled in January 2014, after the script for the highly anticipated picture was leaked online. Tarantino talked about rereleasing the screenplay as a novel, before going back and deciding to give the film one last shot. Production began in January 2015, and now we have some of the first pictures from the set of the new film.

Tatum will line up alongside Samuel L Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell and Tim Roth in the movie, which is said to similar in tone to a tense stage play. The story follows a pair of bounty hunters transporting prisoners through 19th-century Wyoming. As we reported earlier this year, Jennifer Lawrence is being sought for one of the other major roles, though it's unclear which. Further characters yet to be cast include a renegade Confederate soldier and a female prisoner in a saloon.

Daniele Watts, the American actress who appeared in the Oscar winning movie 12 Years' a Slave, was detained by police in Los Angeles on Sunday when officers responded to a complaint of indecent exposure. Watts said on Facebook account that she was handcuffed for kissing her companion in public.

Police confirmed that a male and female were involved indecent exposure inside a Silver Mercedes with a vehicle door open. Patrol offers responded to the complaint in the 11900 block of Ventura Boulevard in Studio City and "located two individuals that matched the description of the suspects, and they were briefly detained," according to the Los Angeles Times.

Despite an early script leak, lawsuit and rumors of a mole in the camp, Quentin Tarantino's new movie The Hateful Eight will begin shooting in January 2015, with the Weinstein Company distributing the movie. A release date is due to be set for fall next year.

Though Weinstein's involvement may seem fairly ordinary, the release of The Hateful Eight will be historic in that it will be shot on 65mm film and will have the widest 70mm release in over twenty years. In a unique distribution plan, the movie will also have 35mm releases and DCP formats.

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is a longer cut of Q.T’s two-part revenge/martial arts epic, and the extended version is reported to include a 30 minute anime sequence. Film Divider were first with the new poster for the director’s troubled Hateful Eight picture. They released a picture of next week’s Empire magazine, which features a trailer being drawn by six horses leaving a trail of blood behind them. With that out in 2015 and the possibility of a super-extended Kill Bill volume, it might be the year for fans of the cult director.

Quentin Tarantino’s movie, Hateful Eight, has certainly been subject to the incessant churning of the rumor mill, and now there’s another – albeit from a solid source. Kurt Russell, who worked with Tarantino on one half of his grindhouse production, Death Proof, has told Fox news: "I've got a Tarantino project called The Hateful Eight that looks like it may go somewhere around the beginning of the year."

But can we trust this? Tarantino has already made his feelings clear towards whoever leaked the script in the first place, and that could have been any of the four actors he initially showed it to. Since then, Samuel L Jackson, Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins, Zoe Bell and Tim Roth have all been invited to read it through, and it’s thought that same cast will appear in the final movie.

Samuel Jackson knows the words of the gospel, or at least Ezekiel 25:17. The actor appeared on The Graham Norton Show on Friday night (13th June) and recited his famous speech from Pulp Fiction perfectly.

Samuel L Jackson played hit man Jules Winnfield in the cult classic.

Norton was joined by Jackson and actress Keira Knightley on the show. Jackson is currently in the UK promoting awareness for male cancer in the charity campaign One For The Boys. The campaign is intended to encourage men to discuss their health and get tested. In an interview with the Telegraph, Jackson explained he became interested in the charity after a friend of his British publicist, Sofia Davis, died of cancer.

Quentin Tarantino recently hosted a live read through of the screenplay for his latest film The Hateful Eight, which by many accounts heralds in a return to the earlier work in the oeuvre of the claustrophobic Reservoir Dogs rather than the grand-scale theatrics of such recent work as Django Unchained.

The filmmaker has been elusive about whether The Hateful Eight would ever get made.

The read through itself came as a response to the actions of alternative news website Gawker, who published a link to an online copy of Tarantino’s screenplay for the film. Suitably enraged, the pop-culture infatuated auteur not only sued the website but also threatened to postpone the film indefinitely. Thankfully, Tarantino’s rational irritation has subsided, and his official read through also saw the first reveal of the film’s impressive cast in the hope of offsetting a host of rumours and hear-say surrounding the film.

Quentin Tarantino has unceremoniously lost his court dispute with Gawker over the leaking of The Hateful Eight script. A federal judge in California has dismissed the director's lawsuit, which was filed in January after Gawker.com published a link to a script for Tarantino's forthcoming movie - which has since been scrapped.
