Following a screenplay leak, cancellation and final confirmation that it would be going into production, 'The Hateful Eight' is filming, and Tarantino has released some set pictures.
In case it wasn't clear already, Quentin Tarantino loves movies. He's talked on many occasions about his love for the Spaghetti-Western genre, which has led many people to wonder what a Tarantino-directed Spaghetti-Western would look like. Sure, we had 2012's 'Django Unchained' to give us a brief glimpse at the idea, but that was racial revenge story first, and a Western second. When Tarantino announced his 8th film, 'The Hateful Eight', back in November 2013, fans worldwide jumped for joy.

A jump that may have been a little premature, as the project was cancelled in January 2014, after the script for the highly anticipated picture was leaked online. Tarantino talked about rereleasing the screenplay as a novel, before going back and deciding to give the film one last shot. Production began in January 2015, and now we have some of the first pictures from the set of the new film.

More: Quentin Tarantino's 'The Hateful Eight' Set For Fall 2015 (Shot in 65mm)
Set around 20 years after the events of 'Django Unchained', and several years after the American Civil War, a bounty hunter John "The Hangman" Ruth (Kurt Russell) is traveling through Wyoming to bring Daisy "The Prisoner" Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh) to justice in Red Rock. Along the way, their stagecoach picks up Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), another bounty hunter, and Sherriff Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins). When a blizzard forces them to stop over at a Stagecoach shelter, they find it to be housing another group of travellers. Bob (Demián Bichir) is looking after the establishment while the owner is away, while Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth), Red Rock's Hangman, is sheltering along with cowboy Joe Gage (Michael Madsen) and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Bruce Dern).

It's the sort of classic set-up for Spaghetti-Westerns, in which eight "hateful" people are stranded with one another while tensions run high, and deception leads to bloodshed. If we had to guess (this being a Tarantino movie), the travellers probably won't ever make it to Red Rock in the end.

We'll have to wait until later this year, to find out who makes it off the mountain alive.
