Perhaps you're inspired by the Academy award nominations, harbouring a fervent desire to create an on-screen wonder, or simply interested in learning more about animation, the London Southbank is where you need to be.

Starting on February 16th and finishing up on the 18th is The BFI Future Film Festival - the perfect opportunity for budding filmmakers to hone their skills, network with likeminded folk and gain inspiration via in-depth masterclasses, screenings of the best new films by emerging filmmakers and inspirational Q&As, which, according to the BFI themselves, will help "you develop your own unique pathway into the world of film."

Given the BFI's mandate is to "Encourage the development of the arts of film, television and the moving image throughout the United Kingdom," an aspiring auteur, writer or actor should find themselves firmly at home under their wing.

Most recently at the BFI, the world famous London Film Festival took place, awarding such films as Rust and Bone and Beasts of The Southern Wild with top honours. The latter, of course, stars Quvenzhane Wallis: the miniature 'force of nature' as she's become known, and youngest nominee for the Best Actress award at The Oscars. Also nominated in the same category - ironically the oldest ever nominee - is Emmanuelle Riva for her turn as Anne in Amour.

The BFI's Future Film Festival is open to ages 15-25. More information and tickets can be found at http://www.bfi.org.uk/futurefilm. Enjoy!
