Poignant lyricist/ singer/ songwriter Rachel Sermanni unveils the video for her track 'Waltz' ahead of the release of her debut album 'Under Mountains' due out on October 15th 2012 through Middle of Nowhere Recordings .
The video is bizarre, and very 'Alice in Wonderland'-esque. It features the singer taking a walk through a woodland finding various scattered toys along the way such as a jigsaw piece, a doll, a set of playing cards, dominos, a kaleidoscope and a children's book. She soon becomes aware that she is being followed by a handsomely dressed figure that appears to be a human sized white rabbit in a top hat and white gloves toting a wooden cane and a pocket watch. She chases him through a field before he stops to bow to her and offer her a dance before mysteriously disappearing and leaving behind his hat to her confusion. It's pleasant to watch just as the song is wonderful on the ears. It's slow and simple with a heart-warming melody and poetic lyricism.
It being only her debut album, her recognition seems to be growing nonetheless. Rachel Sermanni has already toured with huge names such as Mumford & Sons, Elvis Costello, Michael Kiwanuka, John Grant and Ron Sexsmith and has embarked on 20-date tour which includes this weekend's Leeds Festival (August 24th 2012).
