With Pitch Perfect 2 sitting pretty at the top of American box offices, one of its stars has revealed that she secretly dislikes singing in public and will only do so if she’s getting paid.

Rebel Wilson, who plays Patricia “Fat Amy” in the popular film franchise, told Glamour magazine in a new interview that although fans may assume that she enjoys singing because her character does so in the movie, in real life she hates it!

“A lot of people think - because we sing in the movie and whatever - that we would do karaoke, but I have a thing against karaoke,” she revealed. “The microphones are never good quality, they have always been dropped, and a lot or people are screaming into them and the vocal sound quality is never the right mix and I'm like, 'No!' I'll sing in a movie when I'm getting paid.”

The 29 year old Australian actress has in the past said that can do a decent rendition of Elton John’s ‘Crocodile Rock’ – but only because she likes the chorus.

Pitch Perfect 2 is the sequel to the popular 2012 movie, and features Wilson alongside the likes of Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Hailee Steinfeld. It’s only been out for a week, but it’s already been certified as the highest-grossing movie musical of all time, having made $112.5 million at the time of writing on a budget of only $29 million.

Wilson has previously indicated that she’d be willing to star in a third movie, though is unclear as to whether the director Elizabeth Banks or any of her co-stars would be willing to do so as well.

“It's so good that everyone in the first movie is back in the second one,” she enthused, “and we love working together, so who knows if there's future storylines but I would really wanna see the Bellas intact and see what they go on to do. We do have a joke that we're going to go into the Intergalactic championships against aliens, the galaxy champions.”
