The stars of the 1999 hit Cruel Intentions reunited for a special comedy musical version of the film. Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair, who played wealthy New York teenagers in a fatal spiral of seduction and betrayal, shared pictures from when they went to see Cruel Intentions: The Completely Unauthorised Musical on Thursday (28th May).

Members of the film’s cast watched the Cruel Intentions musical at the Rockwell Theatre in Los Angeles. Gellar’s part in the film, Kathryn, was being played by Katie Stevens (Faking It) whilst Blair and Witherspoon’s parts were played by Molly McCook (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Shelley Regner (Pitch Perfect). 

Witherspoon shared a picture of the three women reunited outside the theatre, captioning the picture ‘Best girls night of the year!!!’

Gellar also shared a picture of the trio from inside the theatre but she took it one step further by re-enacting the scene in which she teaches Blair’s character to kiss. Gellar and Blair re-enacted their famous kiss from the film and they were snapped by a photographer at the theatre, as NY Daily News reports. Later Gellar also shared a picture of the two kissing on Instagram.

The women’s reunion also coincided with Roger Kumble’s birthday. Kumble directed and wrote the screenplay for the teen melodrama. Blair and Gellar wished the 48-year-old a Happy Birthday on Instagram, sharing throwback photographs of themselves with Kumble during the filming of Cruel Intentions. 

Ryan Phillippe, who also starred in Cruel Intentions, was not present at the reunion. However, he did see the show earlier this year, as Fox reports. This is also the second time Gellar has seen the musical as she watched the show in April with another of her Cruel Intentions co-stars, Sean Patrick Thomas.
