Reese Witherspoon preferred to be shoeless as a child.

The 'Wild' star - who has daughter Ava, 15, son Deacon, 11, from her previous marriage to Ryan Phillippe and two-year-old Tennessee with husband Jim Toth - has admitted she used to run around bare foot as a young girl but is unsure why she did.

She told InStyle magazine: ''Well, I didn't grow up wearing a lot of shoes. I never wore shoes in the summer. Not once! We just ran around bare foot.

''No [I don't do that now]! I can't even imagine letting my kids do that either.''

However, since her childhood, the 39-year-old beauty has taken a liking to fashion, even releasing her own clothing collection on her lifestyle website Draper James.

Speaking of the fashion line, she shared previously: ''The interesting thing is that women in the south, and all over the country, are reading Elle, Vogue and WWD. They have such a sophisticated knowledge of fashion. I wanted to create a line that made them feel seen.

''It will have all those touches of my southern upbringing but also revealing what the south is today. In the south, there's a lot of colour, prints, tradition, traditional fabrics like gingham, plaids, stripes. There's also definitely a feeling that what you wear makes you feel better, especially if you're wearing colour, prints or joyful things.''
