Reese Witherspoon Arrested. Resse Witherspoon, one of Hollywood's golden girls - the ones who can seemingly do no wrong in their personal and (usually) professional life - was taken into police custody on Friday (April 19) after the star began acting hostile around police who had pulled over her husband, talent agent Jim Toth, for allegedly driving under the influence. Reese was a passenger in the car at the time and allegedly became very hostile with the cops when she and Jim were pulled in Atlanta, Georgia in the early hours of Friday.

The Oscar-Winning actress was apparently waiting in the passenger seat of her husband's car whilst he was being cited, but became increasingly more irate with each passing second. According to Variety, the actress twice got out of the car, even after being told to remain inside, and repeatedly asked the Atlanta cops if they knew who she was and when the police officer revealed that he didn't know who she was, she answered, "You're about to find out who I am. ... You are going to be on national news."

The Hollywood Reporter goes on to mention that the two were then taken back to the local station, where they had their mugshots taken and were released after only a short while. The two, who married in 2011 and had their first child together in September last year, are due in Atlanta Municipal Court Monday morning (April 22) to plead their cases. The now brunette star issued an apology on Sunday (April 21), but her usually squeaky clean image of Reese may take some time to heal after this mishap. The statement read, "Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior."

Reese, 37, and Jim, 42, were in Atlanta together whilst Reese films her next film, The Good Lie, about an American woman who adopts a Sudanese refugee. She was out in public on Sunday night during the New York City screening of her latest film Mud, although she refused to answer any questions all night but did pose for some photos. The Good Life is expected to be released at the end of 2013.
