The Whole Truth Trailer

Mike Lassiter finds himself being put on trial for the murder of his father. The Lassiter's are a rich family and Mike lives with his mother Loretta and father Boone. The body of Boone is found with a knife still in the fatal stab wound that killed him, Mike's fingerprints are on the weapon and when he is interviewed by the police he admits to stabbing his father.

With an incredible amount of evidence, the police arrest and charge the teenager with the murder of his father. Mike's mum, Loretta, recruits her attorney friend Richard Ramsay to defend her son and as Richard begins to develop his case more and more facts come to light about that night and Boone Lassiter.

It's uncovered that Boone is a vicious man who could be 'exceptionally cruel' and Mike witnessed events of abuse carried out on Loretta by his father - he'd even threaten his son. As the case proceeds, Richard asks another attorney to come on board and help keep Mike out of prison. Janelle is a young yet enthusiastic lawyer who believes that Mike is protecting his mother from the crime that she committed. It's possible either of the two family members could've killed Boone and what starts out to be a clean cut case for the prosecution soon becomes more convoluted.

'Bridget Jones's Baby' Enters Kicking And Screaming At The Top Of The UK Box Office

Renee Zellweger

Bridget Jones’s Baby was an extremely welcome new arrival in the British box offices this weekend, securing record figures for a romantic comedy – but it experienced a difficult labour in America, where it has underperformed despite a wide release.

The third instalment in the movie adaptations of Helen Fielding’s books, it secured an impressive £8.1 million in British cinemas over the weekend, which stands as a record opening weekend for Working Title productions, as well as for any romantic comedy.

The latest hit, starring Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth reprising their famous roles, comes 12 years after 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason was released.

Bridget Jones’s Baby had a disappointing opening weekend at the US box office, taking just $8 million in North America and coming in third place in the charts. The third film in the Bridget Jones series had faired much better overseas, topping the charts in 24 countries.

Bridget Jones's Baby Review

Excellent

As it's been 12 years since the last Bridget Jones movie, expectations aren't too high for this sequel. So it's a very nice surprise that this film stands on its own as a charming and often very funny romantic comedy while rounding off the trilogy in style. The cast is terrific, and the script bristles with snappy dialogue and witty characters that lead the audience down an unpredictable route to a complicated happy ending.

On her 43rd birthday, Bridget (Renee Zellweger) is finally content with her single life. Although her romantic past continues to torment her, especially when she runs into former flame Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) at a funeral. With a corporate shake-up underway at the TV news programme she produces, presenter Miranda (Sara Solemani) suggests that Bridget needs some sex to liven up her life, whisking her off to a music festival. There she has a cute, hot encounter with the dishy Jack (Patrick Dempsey). And a week later, she rekindles her romance with Mark when she learns that his marriage has ended. So when she discovers that she's pregnant, Bridget hasn't a clue which man is the father.

This premise offers plenty of scope for both thematic meaning and awkward plot turns, and the screenplay merrily dives right into all of it, mixing some silly slapstick with darker emotions as director Sharon Maguire maintains a breezy-comical tone. This kind of balance is difficult to get right, but the film feels effortlessly engaging.

Renee Zellweger Says She Has Matured Along With Bridget Jones

Renee Zellweger Bridget Jones Diary

It's been 12 years since we last saw Bridget, and Zellweger feels like the break helped prepare her to revisit the character. "I have a different perspective now," she says. "I worked on the other side of things for awhile, so I understand it a little bit better. Yes, I'm definitely back, but different. Now my life comes first."

Renee Zellweger returns as Bridget Jones

This is why she's reluctant to open up to the media, especially amid criticism about her opinions or appearance. "I'm a private person, so it's difficult for me to talk to the whole world like we're all best friends," she says.

Renee Zellweger Confesses Her Own 'Bridget Jones Moment' At The US Premiere Of 'Bridget Jones's Baby'

Renee Zellweger

It seems Renee Zellweger is more like her Bridget Jones character than you realise, despite the fact that she's a graceful American woman in real life rather a bumbling Londoner. Arriving at the US premiere for 'Bridget Jones's Baby' yesterday brought back memories from an embarrassing incident at the original movie's screening.

Zellweger hit the red carpet for the third film in the Bridget Jones movie series last night (September 12th 2016), but she couldn't help but be reminded of a 'very Bridget Jones moment' she had during the New York premiere of the first film, 'Bridget Jones's Diary', in 2001 at the Ziegfeld Theater.

Renee Zellweger Says She Doesn't Need Children "To Be Happy"

Renee Zellweger

Since she announced her return from a six-year career break to star in Bridget Jones’s Baby, Renee Zellweger has had to field a number of questions about plastic surgery rumours, ageing and whether or not she’ll have family – and has done so with pretty admirable patience.

In a recent interview she said that she had “craved” the process of acting and creativity that she had escaped back in 2010 when she went on a career hiatus. Just a few days later, she was asked by Extra magazine whether that “craving” extended toward eventually having a baby, like her character in the forthcoming movie.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview, the 47 year old actress was asked about the issue of ageing in Hollywood, to which she replied that she would not be being asked questions like this if she were a man.

“I’ve never seen the maturation of a woman as a negative thing,” Zellweger said. “I've never seen a woman stepping into her more powerful self as a negative.”

Renee Zellweger Opens Up On Criticism Over Her 'Different' Image

Renee Zellweger

The public reacted with shock when Renee Zellweger appeared at the Elle Women In Hollywood Awards in 2014 looking remarkably different in her face. At the time she dismissed the furore as 'silly' and neither confirmed nor denied that she had had any facial reconstructive surgery. With her features still looking strangely different to her 'Bridget Jones' days, she addresses the subject once again.

The 46-year-old actress claimed that she remained oblivious to any kind of criticism of her physical appearance in an interview with 'Today' yesterday (March 26th 2016). 'It's not really part of my life. It's part of the job, that I don't really experience except when I step into this arena', she said. 'In my home I'm not aware of it. George Clooney Single Again! Why Did He Split From Stacy Keibler?

George Clooney Stacy Keibler Elisabetta Canalis Renee Zellweger Kelly Preston

There's not many women in the world who'd foresee dumping George Clooney but his last girlfriend Stacy Keibler has shown that perhaps the dashing actor isn't all he's cracked up to be. Sources speaking to People magazine have revealed that the 33 year-old former wrestler called time on her relationship with the 52 year-old Ocean's Eleven actor because they want different things out of life: "Stacy called it quits. She wants to have children and a family someday. She knows where George stands on that. They talked and they quietly stopped being a couple several weeks ago."

Clooney, who has dated a string of younger models and actresses including Kelly Preston, Renee Zellweger and Italian actress Elisabetta Canalis, has never fathered any children and judging by his latest break-up, it looks like he's determined to keep it that way. However, People's source also indicates that, despite their aspirational differences, the split wasn't acrimonious and the pair will remain on good terms: "They talk every day. They were friends before they started dating and they'll be friends after. It was a friendly [breakup]."

Third Bridget Jones Book From Helen Fielding Planned For Autumn 2013

Helen Fielding Renee Zellweger

Bridget Jones is set to make a return, as Helen Fielding prepares to publish a second sequel to her fictional Bridget Jones’ Diary, published in 1996.

The original book became a global sensation in its own right, as the world fell in love with Fielding’s fictional character, Bridget Jones. That popularity then grew when the novel was adapted for a Hollywood movie, with Renee Zellweger as the central character.

17 years after that first novel was published, the news comes that Fielding plans to resurrect Bridget’s story. The publisher Jonathan Cape has acquired the publishing rights to the book, which is expected to hit bookstores in Autumn 2013, according to The Telegraph. Dan Franklin, a spokesperson for Jonathan Cape, said “Great comic writers are as rare as hen’s teeth. Helen is one of a very select band who have created a character, Bridget, of whom the very thought makes you smile. Like millions of others, I can’t wait to see what’s happened to her.”

Kenny Chesney Fights Claims He Separated From Renee Zellweger For Being Gay

Kenny Chesney Renee Zellweger

When Renee Zellweger cited 'fraud' as the reason for filing for divorce from Kenny Chesney in 2005, he had no idea what the ramifications of that word would mean for him. Now, Chestney has finally opened up on the divorce.

After spending the last four years trying to escape the rumours that Zellweger had ended the relationship after discovering that he was gay. But the country music singer has now revealed that they settled on 'fraud' when they were confronted with no other options.

In an interview with Playboy magazine, Chesney stated "I talked to my attorney and her attorney. In order for us to get an annulment, the legal papers could claim either physical abuse, which wasn't true, or mental abuse, which wasn't true. The best thing we could put in there was fraud. So I said, 'All right, do it. Whatever.'"

Miss Potter Review

Weak

Chris Noonan's Miss Potter continues a rather long line of films that attempt to diagnose the creative process of a writer and the critical world that surrounds the writer's inherent social (emotional) ineptitude. There are moments where Miss Potter seems to be on the right track in feeling out the emotional trajectory of its main character, but it often chooses the route of greater cuteness over the challenges of trying to study the life of a writer.

Beatrix Potter (Renée Zellweger) came from a well-off family and was well past her marriage date when three brothers agreed to publish her book, expecting nothing more than a minor profit. In case the name doesn't ring a bell, Miss Potter was the brains behind the beloved Peter Rabbit and several other indelible creatures of delightful fantasy. When the elder statesmen of the publishing firm deem the project unworthy of their time, they send their young brother (Ewan McGregor), to handle the book and its flighty author. As you may guess, the two fall head-over-heels, much to the chagrin of Beatrix's parents (Bill Patterson and Barbara Flynn) and to the glee of his sister (Emily Watson, the film's most evident charm factory).

Noonan, best known for the now classic Babe, treats his subject with the same well-dressed adorability that Potter gave her creatures, most notably Peter. A more easygoing version of Marc Forster's Finding Neverland, Miss Potter spends more time striving to deal with the relationship status of its heroine than delving into the quixotic charm of her writing process. The better parts of the film are the flourishes of animated hallucinogenics that Noonan puts in as a reminder of where these creations came from: Beatrix's parlor of emotional eccentricities.

The problem is that, when push comes to shove, we've seen Potter's story before, and Miss Potter is severely lacking in trying to differentiate its source material from any other classically-tinted story of love and writing. Acting-wise, there couldn't be a sweeter bunch of actors to add to the candy-coated shell the film inhabits. But the film invariably goes for impenetrable cuteness, even when a rather obvious tragedy occurs. In fact, all the drama that arises seems to be treated with fumbling, patronizing dullness to give more ample weight to what is a rather wanting character study.

Rereading the Peter Rabbit books, you have to marvel at the simplicity and class that the books had in telling a story with a solid moral. What Miss Potter doesn't have is the creative veil that Potter herself gave these wonderful stories. The film could have been so detailed and surreal, yet it relies on whimsy like the animated whirl of Beatrix's parents stepping into a cartoon pumpkin led by four monstrous rabbits. It is missing that childlike love for nature and animals that Beatrix must have had, and in turn, forgets what it's like to have an imagination.

Not Harry's mom.

Nurse Betty Review

Excellent
Neil LaBute, best known for his ultra-dark comedies In the Company of Men and Your Friends and Neighbors, breaks from his traditional mold and lightens up a tad with Nurse Betty, which -- again -- isn't going to win any awards for sensitivity.

For the first time, LaBute is not directing from his own script, which might explain why, if I didn't know better, I would have sworn I was watching a Coen brothers movie. Who else would put a fantasy dancing sequence on the edge of the Grand Canyon at night?

White Oleander Review

Very Good
White Oleander is one girl's dramatic coming-of-age story -- emphasis on the word "dramatic." A bright teen bounces around some dreadful foster homes, gets street-tough while in a facility for abandoned kids, and witnesses more tragedy in three years than any person should see in a lifetime. With such relentlessly morose subject matter, you'd think director Peter Kosminsky's adaptation of Janet Fitch's bestseller would lean toward TV melodrama -- and while the script may do so, Kosminsky's deft direction and fine editorial choices make White Oleander an effective and well-paced story of self-realization and determination.

The novel White Oleander was a 1999 selection of the ubiquitous Oprah Winfrey Book Club and you can tell why: There are so many brutally dysfunctional people in the story that Dr. Phil could produce months of television delving into their sorry lives. Astrid (Alison Lohman) is an only child, growing up in the Hollywood Hills with Ingrid (Michelle Pfeiffer), her eccentric, urban-arty mother. After a series of events that Kosminsky smartly keeps off-camera, Ingrid kills her boyfriend. Or does she? And how? Regardless, the beautiful, hopeful, young Astrid is picked up by state services and sent to live in a double-wide with a foster family.

Cinderella Man Review

OK
Tickets to Ron Howard's period boxing drama Cinderella Man should come with bootstraps. That way we literally could join the film's heavyweight hero, dutifully played by Russell Crowe, as he sifts through the wreckage left by bill collectors and broken bones to climb his way out of Dickens-level poverty and see the light at the end of his personal tunnel of despair.

American audiences adore underdog stories, particularly those tied to sports. From Rocky to Seabiscuit, we devour worthy longshots given a chance to reclaim such precious commodities as pride, significance, or the undying love of family. That, and anything with Darth Vader in it.

Deceiver Review

Good
It's becoming pretty trendy to try to surprise the viewer. It seems like, every time I turn around, some critic friend of mine is blurbing about "a twist ending rivaling such-and-such film." The such-and-such is normally some not-that-obscure, not-that-old film such as The Usual Suspects, 12 Monkeys, The Sixth Sense. My personal favorite would be calling it a "Nowhere Man" ending, after the short-lived ultraparanoid UPN series about a photographer whose existence is erased. At the end of it all, he finds that he was never a photographer to begin with and that he is the head of the organization he has been fighting against and created a new identity and memories for himself so that the security of their conspiracies could be tested.

Deceiver may not be the latest in this trend of trying to trick us, but it is, like most of them, incredibly easy to predict. You see, when you've watched enough movies, you become immune to their tricks. You see through them, know the killer ten seconds in from their first facial expressions.

The Bachelor Review

Weak

You know something is just not right about a movie when even the most insignificant supporting characters have more charisma and personality than the leads.

Such is the case with "The Bachelor," a comedy about an heir to a $100 million fortune who has 24 hours to get married or be cut off without a dime.

Chris O'Donnell (Robin in the recent "Batman" movies) is said heir, a commitment-o-phobe from central casting named Jimmy whose persnickety, cantankerous grandfather (Peter Ustinov) kicks the bucket and reveals in his videotaped will that -- surprise! -- he's a millionaire. But grandpa is also obsessed with begetting a family legacy and decrees that Jimmy, his soul heir, gets zip unless he's married by his 30th birthday. Unfortunately grandpa has the bad timing to die two days before the deadline.

Me, Myself & Irene Review

Weak

If only Jim Carrey's uninhibited and completely unhinged, sweet-and-sour insanity was by itself enough to carry a movie, it might not matter so much that the plot of the Farrelly Brothers' "Me, Myself and Irene" is nothing but an undercooked on-the-run road movie.

Full of crooked cops and rich, double-crossing ex-boyfriends, it's a dim bulb script the boys had shelved ages ago and dusted off last year only after a couple post-"There's Something About Mary" projects fell through.

Sustained only by its outrageousness (breast milk gags, anyone?) and Carrey's hammy physical humor, the movie does have its fair share of laughs. But between guffaws there's nothing to keep the uneven "Irene" from collapsing under its own dead weight.
