Jeremy Clarkson Richard Hammond James May

After many months of agonising, the new Amazon Prime motoring show fronted by former ‘Top Gear’ presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May finally has a name – ‘The Grand Tour’.

On Wednesday afternoon (May 11th), Clarkson wrote on Twitter: “Start the smoke. We have a name”. The title was then revealed, apparently a reference to their intention to host each episode in a different city across the world and the copious number of filming locations already used - including northern Africa, Barbados, Portugal and London.

“So, the Grand Tour (GT for short) will come from a tent, which we will put up in a different location every week. Your town?” another tweet read soon afterwards.

Jeremy Clarkson Richard Hammond James May

Fans of Jeremy Clarkson’s reign on ‘Top Gear’ can be assured that the new Amazon Prime show will be as excessively silly as ever, after the presenter posted photographic evidence of a car wreck he was involved in during filming in Barbados.

The disgraced former BBC presenter, who was sacked after the legendary ‘fracas’ with a producer which occurred almost exactly a year ago on the last series of ‘Top Gear’, admitted that he wrote off one of the cars he was driving while shooting the new big-budget Amazon Prime series on the Caribbean island with trusty colleagues Richard Hammond and James May.

There was one point in Jeremy Clarkson’s career where no one thought he would ever be de-throned from his top spot at the BBC. Fast forward a few months and a fracas later and Clarkson at the BBC seems more unlikely than Clarkson in a bad car.

The 52 year old former BBC presenter, who along with Hammond followed Clarkson out of the door at the network after the latter was sacked following the infamous ‘fracas’ in March, appeared on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ and said that he wasn’t concerned about the competition from their former employers, according to the Mirror.

Jeremy Clarkson is set to make his return to television nearly three months after he was sacked, on Chris Evans’ Channel 4 special ‘TFI Friday’ on June 12th. However, contrary to rumours doing the rounds, Evans is not making a film for ‘Top Gear’.

On Sunday, the radio DJ sparked a frenzy of speculation that he was to take over the vacant presenting spot on BBC2, after he told Tim Lovejoy on C4’s ‘Sunday Brunch’ that he was making a “secret ‘Top Gear’ film. However, the BBC confirmed on Monday (June 8th) that whatever Evans was up to, the ‘film’ hadn’t been commissioned by them.

Ed Sheeran Crashes The 'Top Gear' Car Ahead Of Guest Appearance

Ed Sheeran Jeremy Clarkson Richard Hammond James May

He may have achieved total mastery of the pop world, but Ed Sheeran demonstrated this week that his skills on the road leave quite a lot to be desired. According to BBC's Newsbeat, the star crashed ‘Top Gear’’s ‘Reasonably Priced Car’ during filming of a regular segment of the popular show, whose new episode is due to be broadcast this weekend.

The singer, whose second album X was the biggest-seller of 2014 in the UK, does not hold a driving license and had apparently never driven a car before, so it’s hardly surprising that the red Vauxhall Astra left the track and entered the grass on a number of occasions.

The makers of the long-running BBC show ‘Top Gear’ are reportedly in “conversations” about whether to go ahead with making another series, according to its producer.

Andy Wilman, who hatched the plan to revive the show with controversial presenter Jeremy Clarkson back in 2002, said to Broadcast magazine that the BBC “does not trust” the show after its “annus horribilis” of 2014. Scandal after scandal beset the programme, which has been in hot water in the past, during the last twelve months and things now seem to be coming to a head for Wilman.

Jeremy Clarkson Racism: So What Happens Now?

Jeremy Clarkson Richard Hammond

The most pointless announcement in the history of the Internet was made yesterday when Ofcom said Jeremy Clarkson had purposely used a racist epithet to describe another human being. Everyone knows the Top Gear presenter says those things.

Jeremy ClarksonJeremy Clarkson: officially said racist stuff, according to Ofcom

“That is a proud moment ... but ... there is a slope on it.” Hammond said: “You are right ... [pointing] ... it is definitely higher on that side,” he exclaimed to his little partner in (racially offensive language) crime. But what exactly happens to the BBC stalwart now?

Jeremy Clarkson's Chequered History With Not Saying Racist Things

Jeremy Clarkson Richard Hammond

One Google search for “Jeremy Clarkson racist” will throw up 917,000 results. And there’s a reason for that. The controversial BBC presenter has had more than his fair share of chances when it comes to blurting out bigoted comments, the latest being the whole “eeny, meeny, miny, moe catch a n-word by his toe” debacle.

Jeremy ClarksonJeremy Clarkson is getting a nice new contract, presumerably with a 'say what you want' clause

But it’s okay; he didn’t mean to say the n-word. He tried not to say it, but he just couldn’t stop it sounding like he maybe didn’t not say it. Sort of. The BBC doesn’t care either, reportedly handing him a new contract worth loads of money that’ll keep him hosting Top Gear with his mates, who also like to say incredibly racist things and get away with it, too.

Jeremy Clarkson Set For Huge Windfall In Top Gear Deal

Jeremy Clarkson Richard Hammond James May

Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond have signed a new deal, ensuring Top Gear’s future for the next three years. The deal is likely to involve a huge windfall for Clarkson in particular, with BBC Worldwide now taking full control of his lucrative company ‘Bedder 6’

Clarkson has become the highest paid BBC star, earning over £3 million in the year to March 2012 – reports The Guardian – and his company Bedder 6 made £15.2 million in pre-tax profits in the year to March 2011. The firm generated income from Top Gear live shows, DVDs and international promotion of the brand. The business is worth anywhere between £50 million and £100 million, though the details of the BBC’s takeover are unknown. Under the new Top Gear deal, May and Hammond will get a share of the show’s commercial revenue in return for promoting the show around the world – essentially, making them even richer. In July of this year, it emerged that Clarkson’s income from Top Gear rose from £900,000 to nearly £3 million in the year.

Of the new deal, a BBC Worldwide spokesman said, “BBC Worldwide has agreed new commercial deals with Jeremy, James, Richard and Andy to secure Top Gear's international future for another three years.”
