Fitness guru Richard Simmons has addressed rumours that he is transitioning, after the National Enquirer published a story earlier this month saying he was now living as a woman named Fiona. The 67-year-old caused concern a few weeks ago when he was taken to hospital after reportedly exhibiting ‘bizarre behaviour ‘ but he later said his hospitalisation was due to ‘dehydration’.

Richard Simmons has denied he is transitioning.

In a Facebook post Simmons said: “Some tabloids have recently falsely reported that I am transitioning. In response, I feel compelled to set the record straight and refute these lies. Although I am not transitioning, I have and always will be supportive of those who are going through their journey.”

Fitness Guru Richard Simmons was reportedly hospitalised on Friday night (June 3) for ‘bizarre conduct’. According to TMZ, Simmons was taken to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Friday after someone in his home called 911 because he was ‘acting in an unusually strange manner’, just before midnight.

Richard Simmons was was reportedly hospitalised on Friday evening.

Sources told the gossip site that paramedics rushed to Simmons’ home and evaluated him, determining he should go to a hospital for further evaluation. Simmons is said to have agreed to be taken to the hospital and it is not yet known if he has been released.

Fitness guru Richard Simmons has spoken out to assure fans he’s not being held as a hostage in his own home. The 67-year-old gave a phone interview on the ‘Today’ show Monday, after an article in the New York Daily News claimed his life was being controlled by his housekeeper, Teresa Reveles.

Richard Simmons has denied he’s being held as a hostage in his own home.

"No one is holding me in my house as a hostage,'' Simmons told ‘Today’ via the phone. "You know, I do what I want to do as I've always done so people should sort of just believe what I have to say because like I'm Richard Simmons!”
