Gervais posted an update from the set of the big screen version of 'The Office', currently a month into filming.
Ricky Gervais has given fans a glimpse of “a new dawn” at ‘The Office’. Quite literally, in fact, as he posted a photo on his social media pages of a new actress playing the receptionist Dawn in the movie adaptation of his old BBC sitcom that he’s currently filming.
‘The Office’, which introduced the world to Gervais’s most famous comic creation David Brent, is getting the big screen treatment, which will see the deluded branch manager pursuing his dream of becoming a rock star with his band, Foregone Conclusion.
Great to be back in the office. A new dawn

Filming is now in the fourth week, and Gervais has been giving fans occasional updates from the set including exciting pics. The latest, posted on Tuesday afternoon (December 8th), showed him posing with a new cast member and teasing fans of the original series as he captioned the photo “Great to be back in the office. A new dawn”.

This, of course, was a reference to Lucy Davis’ character Dawn, the receptionist at the Slough branch of paper merchants Werner Hogg who provided the ‘will they / won’t they’ romantic tension with colleague Tim during the original series, which ran from 2001 to 2003.
In related news, recent ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant Peter Andre has been announced as having a small guest part playing himself alongside Gervais in the movie.
“Peter loved ‘Strictly’ but it has been a lot of pressure and it has taken its toll,” a source close to the former pop star told The Mirror late last week. “He is relieved that it has come to an end. Having a part in Ricky Gervais' new film has come at the perfect time.”
“It’s his first part in a film. And while he will be playing himself and it’s only a small cameo part, it’s given him a chance to have a go at acting.”
