RiRi hasn't released a new album for three years
Rihanna hasn’t released an album for three years and rumours are beginning to circulate that the reason it won’t hit shelves this year is Adele and her own surprise third album. The Bajan star was due to release her eighth album in 2014 but instead extended the promotion of her seventh album.

The newbie actresses are out to show that they are women of many talents.
Rihanna and Cara Delevingne are proving that they are taking this transition into acting very seriously indeed, by starring alongside each other in an upcoming science fiction epic. 'Valérian and the City of a Thousand Planets' is being directed by Luc Besson and is coming to theaters in 2017.
Rihanna is returning to the big screen
While London model Cara has been doing her damn hardest to convince the world that acting is her biggest passion in life, despite her extensive work in the fashion industry, Rihanna has also been coasting along and getting involved in Hollywood - though her busy music-making schedule hasn't made it easy. So far she's only had cameos in 2012's 'Battleship' and 2013 comedy 'This Is the End' and one main role as the voice of Tip in the animated film 'Home'. But now she's taking it to the next level by landing an as yet undefined role in time-travelling sci-fi adventure 'Valérian and the City of a Thousand Planets'.

Rihanna commissioned conceptual artist Roy Machum to design the artwork for 'Anti', which does not yet have a release date.
At long last, Rihanna has revealed the name of her much-delayed eighth studio album, as well as unveiling the impressive conceptual artwork for the record.
The new album will called Anti, and the title and cover art were revealed at a private viewing at the MaMa gallery in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday night (October 7th). The artwork, designed by artist Roy Nachum, features a picture of Rihanna as a child, with her eyes covered by a gold crown.
Laid over the actual image is a poem, translated into Braille, by Chloe Mitchell. She has previously had her work used by Kanye West – who is incidentally one of the executive producers of Anti.

A number of high-profile stars are suing ElevenParis for using their likenesses without their permission to sell clothes.
A range of pop stars including Jay Z, Beyonce, Kanye West and Rihanna are suing a Paris-based clothes retailer and manufacturer for “brazenly” selling merchandise such as hats, T-shirts and mobile phone cases bearing their likenesses without their permission.
A complaint was filed on Tuesday (October 6th) at a federal court in New York alleging that the company ElevenParis has ignored warnings previously issued by the artists to stop the items in question from being sold. According to Reuters, the retailer’s actions “have caused and are causing immediate irreparable harm” to the plaintiffs.

RiRi spoke about the former NAACP leader Dolezal and her ex-boyfriend Brown in a new interview with Vanity Fair.
One of the strangest stories of 2015 has been that of Rachel Dolezal, the former NAACP leader who became the focus of controversy and no small amount of ridicule when her parents revealed that she was white, not black, back in June. However, Rihanna has stated some admiration for her, calling Dolezal “a bit of a hero” in a new interview.
Dolezal was a former leader for the Spokane, Washington chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and Rihanna claims that her deception was not that big a deal and helped change people’s perceptions, as well as continuing a discussion about race in America.

The 34 year old actor became the latest star to join The Ragtime Gals, helping the group give a unique twist to Rihanna’s hit single.

She wouldn't want to become part of Swift's 'squad' because Taylor is a "role model", whereas she isn't trying to be.
Taylor Swift may be the toast of pretty much the entire world right now, but there’s one person who definitely doesn’t want to be part of her “squad”. Fellow pop star Rihanna has said that she wouldn’t join the ‘Bad Blood’ singer on stage if she was asked, because to her it wouldn’t make sense.
Throughout her 1989 World Tour, Swift has attracted tons of headlines for bringing a huge array of female celebrities – plus Matt LeBlanc, for some reason - up on stage with her. “Please welcome to the stage…” has become one of the most parodied phrases of the summer, ending up in that hilarious viral video.

She hit out at Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Lady Gaga in an excerpt of her new autobiography in Time Out.
Grace Jones has unleashed a tirade of criticism at all manner of modern pop stars, from Minaj to Miley, by describing them as “middle of the stream” and lamenting the current state of the music industry, in her new autobiography.
‘I’ll Never Write My Memoirs’ is released on September 29th, but as a taster she has published a few excerpts from the new book via Time Out. In one of them, Jones complains that a whole host of pop stars have copied her style but have no “long-term vision”, coming off as unoriginal and therefore easily replaceable.
“Trends come along and people say, ‘follow that trend’,” she writes. “There’s a lot of that around at the moment: 'Be like Sasha Fierce. Be like Miley Cyrus. Be like Rihanna. Be like Lady GaGa. Be like Rita Ora and Sia. Be like Madonna.’ I cannot be like them – except to the extent that they are already being like me.”

Has Rita made an enemy of Rihanna?

Perry had a few interesting comments on Swift's reactions, following the slight she perceived in Minaj's complaints about bias in the music industry.
More feathers are flying in the Nicki Minaj v Taylor Swift Twitter saga, with Katy Perry wading into the argument with some pretty subtext-heavy comments that all but confirm the subject matter of Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ video.
Perry called out Swift’s reaction to Nicki Minaj’s complaints to not receiving enough MTV Video Music Awards nominations as ironic. “Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman…” she said, a tweet quickly favorited by Minaj.

Miss Piggy sings Rihanna’s ‘B***h Better Have My Money’ in a hilarious new video.
A video in which scenes from Miss Piggy’s prolific Muppets career were remixed in a parody of Rihanna’s ‘B***h Better Have My Money’ (BBHMM) is pretty fabulous, if we’re completely honest. The 1 minute 40 second footage is a tribute to Miss Piggy, who is arguably a bigger diva than Rihanna. Whilst Rihanna’s video involves controversial violence, Miss Piggy’s is much more toned down yet the message remains the same: nobody messes with Miss Piggy and gets away with it!

Miss Piggy sings along to BBHMM in the video. The role of the villain, played by Mads Mikkelsen in Rihanna’s video, is played by Miss Piggy’s long-time love, Kermit the Frog. Adam Schleichkorn, A.K.A. Mylo the Cat, created the video for Vulture as part of their weekly remix videos. Mylo even makes a cameo appearance in the video.
Rihanna’s ‘B***h Better Have My Money’, or BBHMM for short, was released last month and immediately caused controversy. The music video for the song sees Rihanna kidnapping the wife of a man who has wronged her. Rihanna and other women working with her assault the woman on various occasions, at one point in the video tying her upside down by her feet from a barn building.
Two companies have requested Vevo to stop playing their adverts before the controversial seven-minute video.
Her new controversial video has already divided opinion around the internet, but now some companies are taking steps to distance themselves from the graphic violence of Rihanna’s single ‘B**** Better Have My Money’ by stopping their adverts appearing before the video on streaming website Vevo.
Travel firm Kuoni and the Co-Operative Group are the first two companies to announce that their advertisements will no longer play before the explicit video, even though it has been viewed over 18 million times in less than a week since its upload last Wednesday (July 1st).

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) made the announcement on Wednesday (July 1st) that the 27 year old singer – who has been recording for a decade after her first single ‘Pon De Replay’ was released in June 2005 and has enjoyed ten US Number 1 singles since then – had become the only artist ever to pass the landmark.

The rap megastar at the centre of the Tidal streaming re-launch has removed his debut album from Spotify.
The much discussed Tidal revolution seems to already be taking effect. Having purchased the new streaming service as part of a joint venture and re-launching it as an “artist friendly” business model, Jay Z has removed his 1996 debut album Reasonable Doubt from Spotify.
The rapper removed his album overnight between Monday and Tuesday, and it is currently unavailable to stream in the US and Canada. It is, for the moment, still accessible for UK users. Instead, North American fans can find it on – you guessed it – Tidal.

Rihanna backed Jay Z and her LGBT fans in Indiana.
Rihanna has dropped a brand new track, the poetically titled American Oxygen, and in the process, declared her allegiance for Jay Z's new streaming service, Tidal. The track is Rihanna's take on the "American dream," but you've probably guessed this from the title already.
Rihanna has also stepped up in support of Jay Z's new service.
The news here is that Rihanna, just like Beyonce before her and Madonna before that has lent her support for Jay Z's artist-friendly alternative to services like Spotify. On Saturday, Beyoncé also debuted her new track Die With You exclusively on the site. American Oxygen is only available to Tidal subscribers, whose numbers are still disappointingly small. Maybe it's the $10 subscription fee?

Ri-Ri has followed in the footsteps of Beyonce by releasing her new music exclusively on Jay-Z’s streaming service.
On Saturday night Rihanna debuted her new song ‘American Oxygen’ at the March Madness Music Festival in Indianapolis. But no sooner than fans could scourer the internet for a clip of Ri-Ri performing the track, the full studio version dropped...on Jay Z’s streaming service Tidal.
If you’re desperate to hear Rihanna’s new track it might be time to buy a Tidal subscription.
Yes, following Beyonce who, as an anniversary gift to her husband, made her track 'Die With You' available exclusively on Tidal, Rihanna has made sure her latest song will only be heard by Jay-Z’s subscribers.
It seems some observers feel like they’ve heard Rihanna’s latest single before.
Rihanna has been accused of plagiarising a little known rapper named Just Brittany with her latest single ‘Bitch Betta Have My Money’. The accusations started when some fans of the Texan rapper pointed out similarities between Rihanna’s latest single and Just Brittany's similarly titled, ‘Betta Have My Money’.
Has Rihanna plagerised rapper Just Brittany?
Just Brittany released her track on SoundCloud nine months ago, but it has gained more attention since being compared to Rihanna’s new song. While the titles of the tracks are almost identical, the similarities are thought by some observers to go a little deeper.
Yesterday's re-launch of the streaming service Tidal has got the entire music industry talking, but Lily Allen believes that the business model might inadvertently drive fans back into the arms of illegal downloading sites.
The biggest music news of the last few days has been the launch of the subscription-only streaming service Tidal, and the stars have been lining up to give their differing opinions on the controversial business model.
Jay-Z re-launched the service at a star-studded press conference including the likes of Kanye West, Rihanna and Daft Punk on Monday (March 30th), promising that Tidal would be a “better experience for both fans and artists”.

The 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards saw some pretty epic moments this weekend, and some of the most hotly anticipated performances of the year. The top prize of 2015 iHeartRadio Innovator Award went to Justin Timberlake, but he wasn't the biggest winner of the night...
Apart from winning three accolades - for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Lyrics - Taylor Swift was winning in many other ways. She's been gushing to everyone who'll listen recently about Queen of Pop Madonna apparently praising her music in an interview, but the 'Blank Space' singer landed the chance to perform with her idol as she and her guitar joined the diva on stage for a rendition of Madonna's new single 'Ghosttown', taken from recently released thirteenth album 'Rebel Heart'.

Dreamworks' newest animated feature Home has topped the box office this weekend, taking an estimated $54 million. The film's opening weekend success means it is already a hit for studio DreamWorks, which has had a difficult time as of late, with recent releases under performing at the box office.

The stars of the film, 'Home', Jim Parsons and Rihanna, have spoken out about what drew them to the project, and what made it so special.
Already a global hit, the DreamWorks animated adventure 'Home' opens in America this weekend, featuring a leading couple that would be hard to imagine starring together in a live-action movie: 'The Big Bang Theory' star, Jim Parsons, and global superstar Rihanna.

DreamWorks Animation have released 'Home' a week early for Mother's Day, leading to a successful box office before it's official release.
While 'The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' held on to the top spot on the British box office chart for the third straight week, the real champion last weekend was the riotously enjoyable DreamWorks animated adventure 'Home', which played a series of preview screenings in advance of it opening across the country this weekend.
'Home' hits US theatres on 27th March 2015
While 'Second Best' took an impressive £1.4m in its third weekend of play, 'Home''s previews brought in £2.45m on Saturday and Sunday alone. Cleverly marketed as a UK Mother's Day treat, the film drew families to cinemas in huge numbers. This preview income will be added to 'Home''s tally this weekend for next week's box office chart, which means it could beat the second 'Divergent Series' movie, 'Insurgent', to the top of the chart.

A sharp script and especially colourful imagery make this animated romp a lot more fun than expected, entertaining grown-ups just as much as the kids. It may be the usual frantic action comedy, but there's an edge to the humour and a continual stream of knowing gags and witty references that keep us laughing. As a result, the busy plot is surprisingly involving, and the action scenes are genuinely thrilling.
It opens in outer space with the Boov, a race of blobby creatures that are only good at one thing: running away from their sworn enemy the Gorg. Their leader Captain Smek (Steve Martin) has selected Earth as their next hiding place, so they swoop in and corral mankind into Happy Humantowns in the Australian Outback while the Boov occupy the cities, hilariously trying to make sense of everything they find there. But a Boov named Oh (Jim Parsons) sticks out from the hive-like community. Friendlier and more curious than he should be, he inadvertently alerts the Gorg to their location. So he goes on the run, meeting up with the human teen girl Tip (Rihanna), who has managed to hide out with her chubby cat Pig and now wants to find her mother (Jennifer Lopez). Pursued by Smek and top cop Kyle (Matt Jones), Oh and Tip must dart around the globe to solve both of their predicaments.
Based on Adam Rex's novel The True Meaning of Smekday, the story is packed with lively twists and turns, and the filmmakers bring it to life with energy, humour and some real emotion. The animators pull out all the stops as they play with outrageous colours and eye-catching action, while the Boov's ability to selectively control gravity adds plenty of scope for additional mayhem. For example, Oh and Tip travel the globe in a car that Oh soups up Back to the Future-style so they can fly to Boov central command in Paris and then on to Australia. These kinds of knowing film references flit across the screen all the way through their adventure.
