Just don't step into the shower…
The final season of ‘Bates Motel’ is approaching and A&E have just released a chilling trailer ahead of the series' February 20 debut.
While the series has so far served as a prequel to Alfred Hitchock's 1960 thriller Psycho, season five will explore the events depicted in the film and feature pop star Rihanna as doomed motel guest Marion Crane.

Beginning two years after the death of his mother Norma, Norman Bates is now struggling to maintain his sanity and keep control of his “Mother" personality which is threatening to take him over completely.
As Norman descends into madness, the motel welcomes new guest Marion Crane (Rihanna), who is seen checking in during the trailer’s final moments. In the original 1960 movie Crane checked into the Bates Motel after after stealing money from her boss for her boyfriend.
Crane was portrayed by Janet Leigh in the Hitchcock version and was famously killed off during the film’s first act. While its not known how long Rihanna’s character will last in the season, executive producer Kerry Ehrin told Entertainment Weekly that the modern Crane will be a more fleshed out character.

“We’re taking threads of that story and definitely using them so it’s recognizable, it’s just where we go with it is very different,” Ehrin said. “It’s tough to be in a situation where you’re in love with a guy, and for whatever reason, he keeps stalling.
"You still have all this hot sex with him, and he’s saying he loves you, but he’s stalling. The internal story of that, for a woman, is a really interesting one. In Psycho, you just see the outside of that more,” she continued.
“It was trying to do a story about a contemporary woman with some edge, with some expectations, who isn’t perfect, who isn’t always perfectly sweet, who is in that situation, but we’re rooting for her to get what she wants.”
