If you really matter in the fashion world, then last night (June 2nd) you would have found yourself attending The CFDA awards or the Oscars of fashion, as they’re also known. Being honoured at the ceremony was the bad girl herself, Rihanna, who certainly lived up to her nickname with her risque choice of dress. But while most eyes were focused on RiRi, there were also plenty more head turning looks on this year's red carpet. Here's some of the looks we loved from last night, plus a few we were less decided on.

Blake LivelyBlake Lively chose a 60s inspired look for the evening

After her recent red carpet triumphs at the Met Ball and Cannes, Blake Lively ditched the gowns in favour of a gold beaded Michael Kors mini dress. The actress then topped off her 60s inspired look with a bouffant hair-do accessorised with a thick silver headband plus plenty of bracelets adorning one arm.

Stepping back into the limelight, Solange Knowles attended the show as special guest of Calvin Klein director Francisco Costa. The singer wore one of his creations, a long silk, metallic dress which was perfectly form fitting showing off the singer’s statuesque figure. Model Naomi Campbell also chose a similar strappy metallic gown, which she accessorised with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.

Lupita Nyong'oIt was another brave choice for Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita Nyong’o made another brave red carpet statement after her divisive Met Ball dress. The Oscar winner teamed an aztec print top with matching culottes designed by Suno. Also taking a fashion risk was Marion Cotillard whose white lace Christian Dior dress was given extra volume with added fabric panels on each side. Sadly this awkwardly shaped dress was a bit of a miss for the usually stylish Marion.

Actresses turned designers Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen both chose to showcase black pieces from their label The Row. The diminutive twins looked a little swamped in their baggy outfits, but they did go home with an award, being named Accessories Designer of the Year.

RihannaRihanna made sure all eyes were on her for the evening

Then there was Rihanna, who was being honoured with the Fashion Icon award and decided to leave little to the imagination. The singer wore a completely sheer custom Adam Selman fishnet dress which was encrusted 216,000 Swarovski crystals. Love it or loathe it, all eyes were on Rihanna for the entire evening, which is just how the singer likes it. The Great Gatsby meets Striptease gown was certainly the talking point of the evening, but she was being named a fashion icon and you don't earn such a title without pushing the envelope sometimes (or in RiRi's case, daily.)
