Rihanna has reportedly recorded a song for the soundtrack to Star Trek Beyond, the sci-fi movie which hits cinemas on July 22nd. While nothing’s been confirmed by the singer herself, some eagle eyed fans spotted a promo for a new track titled ‘Sledgehammer’ on the US iTunes store.

The track’s artwork features Rihanna with her eyes closed and wearing dark make-up and simply reads, ‘Rihanna, Sledgehammer. From the motion picture Star Trek Beyond.' The single is expected to be released before the film hits theatres on July 22nd.

Star Trek Beyond stars Idris Elba, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg and the late Anton Yelchin and is directed by Justin Lin. In the film the crew of the USS Enterprise find themselves stranded on an unknown planet halfway into their five year mission.

Rihanna is currently on the European leg of ‘Anti' world tour. On Tuesday night (June 21) the tour stopped in Dublin and during the gig the singer appeared to break down in tears while performing hit 'Love The Way You Lie’.

She later told the crowd: 'I only have ever in my life heard an audience of people scream so loud that they sound like one voice and that only happens in Ireland, in Dublin. Thank you so much’. After the gig Riri also took to Instagram, describing the night as ‘emotional’ and thanking her team.
