Rihanna has donated $25,000 (£14,848) to the Los Angeles Police Department as an apology for accidentally breaking a top boss' phone.
The Umbrella hitmaker was sitting next to President of the Los Angeles Police Commission Steve Soboroff at the Los Angeles Clippers basketball game on Friday (09May14) when he asked her to take a 'selfie' photo of the pair on his cell.
But when Rihanna held up his iPhone to take the picture, she accidentally dropped it, cracking the screen.
To make up for her slip-up, Rihanna autographed the back of the gadget along with the message, "Sorry. I (love) Lapd."
Soboroff has now put the item up for auction on eBay.com, and reveals that Rihanna has also generously pledged to donate $25,000 which will go towards a fund for cadets and to help the families of fallen officers in Los Angeles.
He writes on the sale's page: "Rihanna announced she is donating $25,000 to the Los Angeles Police Foundation in addition to allowing the autographed selfie phone to be auctioned. Thank you, Rihanna!"
The phone has reached bids of $2,025 (£1,265) as Wenn goes to press. The sale ends on 15 May (14).
