The popular Isle of Wight festival is landing in Toronto this summer
New Year, New Festival Season and in 2015 one of the best ones is going global - Bestival is going to Toronto. Bestival UK has been a firm favourite in the summer calendar for 12 years having been set up and run by BBC Radio DJ Rob da Bank and his wife Josie.
A firm festival favourite is heading to Canada
This year its popularity is going stateside and it's landing at Hanlan’s Point Beach in Toronto Island on the shore of Lake Ontario during the weekend of June, 12th-13th.
Previous headliners at its current sight on the Isle of Wight has included Stevie Wonder, Florence and the Machine and The Cure with some of the world’s greatest electronic DJs thrown in for good measure.
The Canadian version is being held in conjunction with promotors Embrace and SFX Entertainment and will encompass the music, mayhem and magic associated with Bestival UK.
Rob da Bank explained his excitement about the new project. He said: "We have waited 12 years to decide to launch another Bestival outside of the UK.
"It took a really special city, and an even more exciting site, with Toronto and Toronto Island, to make us take the leap.
"So, the waiting is over and we are so excited to be launching in North American in June, with a classic Bestival line-up waiting to thrill, intrigue and party!"
