On landing, the 64-year-old was taken to a hospital close-by and treated by staff. According to the celebrity gossip site TMZ, Coltrane was travelling to a Harry Potter convention at Universal Studios with his co-star Michael Gambon, who plays Dumbledore.

Orlando is home to the Harry Potter theme park, 'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter' - one of the world's most popular parks, which opened its doors for the first time last year.

It is believed that Coltrane will be monitored and treated in hospital overnight. TMZ quote some Twitter claims that the actor - real name Anthony Robert McMillan - was drinking heavily in the London airport lounge before the flight, however, the reports are unconfirmed.

Coltrane's UK agent, Belinda Wright, told the BBC that the apparent eyewitness reports were "not correct" and "completely untrue". Wright added that the cause of the illness could have been affected by Coltrane's struggle to make his flight to the US after his connecting flight from Glasgow had been delayed due to snow.

She added that the actor was "resting" and would "be fine" but that more information on his condition was not yet available.

We here at Contactmusic.com certainly wish Coltrane a speedy recovery.
