Speaking on 'Loose Women' on Monday (14.10.16), the former Take That hunk explained: ''I would be dead [without therapy] I went to rehab a couple of times and a lot of therapy. Robbie Williams - Live at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester June 6th 2013

Crushed on a tram between middle aged women with recently acquired leathery tans and a group of 'lads' bantering about their adoration for Olly Murs to anyone who awkwardly casts an eye in their direction is my first indication of what attending a stadium pop concert of this scale is going to be like. This, by the way, is the first night of his three night residence in Manchester and was the last to go on sale which means these people aren't even the die-hards. God. Help. Us.

Robbie Williams - Live Review

It's a warm night and after that experience we head straight for the bar like any self-respecting individual would. While there, Olly Murs takes to the stage; you can hear him from outside the arena so there's really no need to rush because, let's face it, we all know his shtick by now and it goes something like: wear bowler hat, be cheeky, and copy Robbie. Yep. He plays through his hits 'Heart Skips A Beat' and 'Troublemaker' and a host of other songs that are just as friendly and soulless. He has a good voice and he's designed perfectly for this environment; he knows when to let the audience sing for him and when to crank out his dance moves and point suggestively at his bum which is, you know, lovely, but he's just not actually very entertaining. I'm all for few good crotch thrusts, and a camera that shows audience members dancing like idiots is obviously hilarious, but Olly, mate, it's a big stage and a bit of presence never hurt anyone. You can't just shout Robbie's name and think you've tricked us into thinking you're him. You're not.

Unlike Rihanna, bang on 9 o'clock Mr Robbie Williams is flying down a zip wire to rapturous applause; it's not the biggest or boldest entrance and is actually fairly low key for a star of his calibre, but he looks effortlessly cool as he poses mid-air in his spangly tailed jacket and studded shoes. As soon as he hits the ground and shouts, "Manchester, are you ready to let me entertain you?" a few times he's off into one of his biggest hits. When you can feel the sturdy structure of a football stadium shake beneath you as over 50,000 people sing and jump in euphoria you know something special is occurring.

Robbie Williams Kicks Back At Liam Gallagher Comments; Are We In The 90's Again?

Robbie Williams Liam Gallagher

You could have been forgiven for thinking we'd gone back in time to the nineties earlier this week, when Liam Gallagher unleashed a scathing attack on singer Robbie Williams for, well, being Robbie Williams. And the retro feud looks as though it'll go on even longer too, because Robbie has retaliated to the monobrowed Mancunian with a few choice words of his own, which will invariably provoke a return from Liam, and so on until they both realise no one cares.

Robbie played four nights back-to-back at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium early this week, a move that provoked a jealous reaction from Gallagher - a lifelong Manchester City fan and, now that Oasis have split, someone who will never be able to pull stadium-filling crowd. The Beady Eye frontman called Robbie a “f***ing fat f***ing idiot” for performing to four huge sold-out crowds; the actions of an obvious idiot.

“The interviews are better than the records at the minute. I really enjoy the interviews. Liam is like an episode of Star Stories,” Robbie said recently in retaliation, before going on to slate some of the songs on the new Beady Eye album BE, saying: “The production is really good. There are a couple of tunes that would have been f***ing amazing if they had a chorus."

Nick Grimshaw Robbie Williams

Nick Grimshaw didn't need this. Just days after being on the receiving end of one of Robbie Williams rants at the Sony Awards, the Radio One DJ woke up on Wednesday morning to discover his swanky car had been clamped. The 28-year-old was determined not to let the bad luck get him down and posed happily with his vehicle and a clamping document.

According to the Daily Mail, the cost of the removal of the clamp is £70.00 though Grimshaw has probably also received a parking fine of £80.00. It's probably safe to assume the presenter won't struggle to the pay off the fine, though it's another slice of bad luck in a terrible week for the DJ. On Monday, Robbie Williams fumed to the Sony Awards audience about Radio One's refusal to play his chart topping track Candy last year, singling out Grimshaw for particular scorn. "I did the Brits and started singing, 'Hey-ho, here we go' to a bunch of industry people and they were all just like, "F*** off, you're fat and you're old. And Radio 1 don't play you no more - you're fat and you're old"," adding, "Isn't that right Nick, you b******?"

Despite the rant, Grimshaw appeared to take things in his stride and later told The Sun, "I think he was so funny. I love him and he's really cool. He should have his own radio show. I'd have him on every morning."

Robbie Williams, Nick Grimshaw In Bust-Up At Sony Radio Academy Awards

Robbie Williams Nick Grimshaw

There’ve been a few dissenting voices about BBC Radio One’s aggressive move to attract younger audiences, but few have been as vocal as Robbie Williams last night, who took his opportunity while on stage at the Sony Radio Academy Awards to lay into Nick Grimshaw and the station in general.

Williams is aggrieved that Radio One have allegedly stopped playing his music because they deemed the 39 year-old too old for their audiences, and he took his frustrations out last night, according to The Sun. “I did the Brits and started singing, ‘Hey-ho, here we go’ to a bunch of industry people and they were all just like, ‘F*** off, you’re fat and you’re old. And Radio 1 don’t play you no more – you’re fat and you’re old’ Williams ranted during his set. He then looked at Grimshaw and said: “Isn’t that right Nick, you b******?”

Continuing his tirade later on in the set after performing his single ‘Candy,’ he said “That’s Candy. How four-year-old do you want it, Radio 1?” before getting right up close to Radio One’s breakfast show host and putting a piece of chewing gum in his mouth, commenting: “Those aren’t drugs by the way. Nah, Radio 1’s not something that keeps me up at night, not at all. They’ve let me back on anyway with DIZZEE RASCAL, so thanks for that, Radio 1.” Bitter much?

Robbie Williams And Dizzie Rascal In Unlikely Collaboration

Robbie Williams

Wonder what the odds were on this; Dizzee Rascal and Robbie Williams were seen shooting a video together for Goin’ Crazy, confirming that the British pair are collaborating.

The Sun had the snaps, and words. Robbie, who was fresh from cruising around on a mod-styled disability scooter, said: “I was expecting Dizzee to come round to my place in LA for an hour. He got round at 6pm, we chatted for hours and he left at 6am. Then he said he wanted the song to sound like Queen. It was a great night.” Robbie then joked, in his classic cheeky style: “I have never been so urban. When I heard Dizzee wanted me, I was like, ‘F*** yes!’ He only deals in bangers and life is getting shorter for me. Dizzee, who can be seen getting out of what can only be described as a spiky mini, said: “As soon as I heard Quadrophenia, I was signed up for the video idea. The mods and rockers idea is right up my street. Having Robbie involved has been good. When his name came up, I was excited about it. We went to his house to record it." It’s not often on these things you sit in the same studio any more. The pair, while not your classic couple, are both British icons in their own genres.

This summer marks an impressive ten-year anniversary since Boy In Da Corner – Dizzie’s progressive grime album - came out. He’ll be celebrating by playing at Glasto and supporting Muse.

Watch Out Posh! Robbie Williams Takes Fashion Label To Germany

Robbie Williams

Fresh from his attack on the BRIT Awards, Robbie Williams got out of Britain altogether this week, flying to Germany to launch his fashion label, Farrell, in Europe. Fellow 1990s pop-star Victoria Beckham - now one of the world's biggest designers - will no doubt tell Robbie that expansion is the key to a global fashion empire, and Williams seems to be making the right moves.

According to handbag.com, Williams was in Charlottenburg, Berlin, to see his collection hung on the rails at the upmarket KaDeWe department store. Donning a smart suit for the photo-call, the Take That man showed off his new slim-figure and even gave a photographers a closer look at his tailoring - red lining, nice! The collection, inspired by his grandfather Jack Farrell, is currently stocked in House of Fraser and Selfridges stores across the UK. Speaking at the British launch of the label last year, Robbie told journalists, "I''m into clothes but not necessarily fashion and I think this is reflected in the collection," adding, "I was inspired by the clothes that I've always worn and loved. I worked with a great team of experienced people who helped me to bring my ideas to life. I enjoyed choosing every detail - from the lining, to the buttons to the cut."

It's been a strange week for Robbie, who performed 'Candy' at the BRIT Awards at London's O2 Arena, though slammed the show in a hastily written song afterwards. "Well that Brits night was so f*cking boring... Coke in the bogs till seven in the morning. Look the wrong way and we end up brawling. Then I had a bit of beef with you-know-who. And I f*cked a few female stars or two."

NSFW: Robbie Williams' Scathing Attack On Dull Awards Night In New Song 'Brits 2013'

Robbie Williams

Looks as though we weren’t the only ones struggling to keep our eyes open during last weeks Brit Awards. Robbie Williams just posted a new song on his website that he’d written with Guy Chambers on the Saturday and recorded on the Sunday that definitely agrees with us. Not-so-subtly entitled ‘The Brits 2013,’ the song is a not-so-subtle attack on the boring awards ceremony that Williams had performed at just days earlier. Just as a side note here, we don’t remember Robbie doing very much to liven up this year’s Brits, himself, but perhaps he felt that should have been down to the younger contingent.

Robbie Williams

After all, Robbie’s knocking on 40 now and the heady days of the 1990s are behind him (Or at least, we hope they are, given that he’s just had his first baby with partner Aida). That hasn’t stopped him singing about them in his new song, possibly by means of some sort of instruction manual for young pop wannabes that are too under the thumb of their record label executives. At one point, Robbie even compares the awards night to a VD clinic, saying that only “pr*cks are in it.”

Will X Factor Execs Tempt Robbie Williams To Join Gary Barlow On Judging Panel?

Robbie Williams Gary Barlow Take That

Will Robbie Williams join Take That band mate Gary Barlow and hop onto the judging panel on X Factor? The Sun have reported that this could very well be the case, with the ‘Angels’ singer looking to join the TV talent show to spice things up a little bit. Known as the cheeky member of the boy band, Robbie’s apparently the top choice for being brought in to bring back the excitement that many felt was missing from last year’s series of the show.

A source told The Sun “This is the dream team. We have been looking at the show and thinking the unthinkable. Robbie is exactly the right person for the show — but we don’t want to lose Gary to get him. We want them both.” There’s just one problem though and it isn’t the fact that Gary and Robbie haven’t exactly always seen eye to eye. “Robbie’s people are saying he’s too busy to do the show.” Undeterred, the show’s sources said they’re not giving up on their dream judge just yet. “we worked around Gary when he first joined the panel,” the source explained, adding “he was touring with Take That and it was fine. We know Robbie loves the show and he and Gary have a great friendship and rivalry — there will be fireworks for sure.

Would the addition of another man on the panel spell the end for Louis Walsh? Producers are reportedly “relaxed” about having three men on the panel, with Nicole Scherzinger expected to take up the fourth spot. Watch this space!

Robbie Williams: 'Justin Bieber's In For A Hard Time'; Star Predicts Troubled Future

Robbie Williams Justin Bieber

There’s nothing like the sage voice of experience to stop your party in its tracks, and poor Justin Bieber must be quaking in his perfectly formed feet right now after having some sobering advice dished out to him by none other than sometime Take That man and ego at-large, Robbie Williams.

Williams of course quit Take That – then the biggest boy band in the world – in 1995 and embarked on a mad couple of years of drink, drugs and debauchery which some would argue he’s never really recovered from, in spite of repeated trips to rehab. Now 39 years-old, Williams speaks with the voice of the man whose seen and done it all, and he told The Sun that he can easily see young Biebs suffering the same pitfalls of fame as he himself did. “There is a list longer than my arm of f***-ups” Williams told the paper, before continuing a rather swear-heavy diatribe by adding “It’s inevitable that someone like Justin Bieber will hit a hard time. You hear about everybody going, ‘You’re sh**’. And you go ‘f***, I’m sh**, I’d better go and do something else’. And it gets to you.”

Bieber’s indiscretions have been creeping up in the past year or so, with bouts of dangerous driving, reports of fisticuffs with the paparazzi, alleged dope smoking and an on-off relationship with now believed to-be ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez all being clocked up. But he’s a long way off dancing at the side of the stage at Glastonbury with pupils like pins, we reckon, so lay off the doom-mongering eh, Robster?

Paul McCartney Joins Hillsborough Charity Single: Will It Get Xmas No.1?

Sir Paul McCartney Robbie Williams Mick Jones Melanie C Paloma Faith John Bishop Eliza Doolittle Beverley Knight

The Hillsborough single, released to raise money for the families of Liverpool fans who lost their life during the tragic Hillsborough disaster in 1989, where 96 football fans lost their lives during a FA Cup semi-final match at the Sheffield stadium, has had it's full line-up released, featuring a fair share of star power.

The single, a cover of the 1969 Hollies track 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother,' will be released on December 17th and is already hotly tipped to take this year's Christmas Number One spot. The full line-up is to feature Liverpudlian Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Mick Jones, X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson, Spice Girl Mel C, Gerry Marsden, Paloma Faith, Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook, Beady Eye's Chris Sharrock, Hollie Cook, Jon McClure, Eliza Doolittle, Beverley Knight, Liverpool FC legend Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool MP Steve Rotheram, Liverpool-born comic John Bishop and members of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Lawson, the Farm, the Zutons, the Beautiful South and Cast.

Families of the victims have already been given a listen to the charity single, which will raise funds for the ongoing legal costs as the victim's families seek retribution from the Government and police, who had covered up the truth about the disaster until earlier this year. Margaret Aspinall, chair of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, commended McCartney for lending his name to the project and spoke of how her son, one of the 96, was listening to the song shortly before he passed on. She said, "I thought, maybe he's handing me this new version and saying 'listen to this'."

Can 'Candy' Take The Crown? Robbie Williams Headed For Number One

Robbie Williams Gary Barlow Rylan Clark Greg James Labrinth Fun

Robbie Williams last scored a number one single in 2004 but the former Take That star looks as though he’s heading for the top of the charts this weekend 'with his latest single ‘Candy,’ according to NME.com. It’s the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album Take The Crown and has sold 73,000 copies so far, since its release.

Sales will have been buoyed by his appearance on last week’s X Factor show, during which he joked with his Take That pal Gary Barlow about his support for the controversial contestant on the show, Rylan Clark. When he was asked by Radio One’s Greg James (who presents the station’s weekly official chart show) what he would do if he got the number one slot this Sunday (November 4, 2012), he replied that he would “stay in, look for UFOs, get fat and beardy again.” Robbie’s last number one single was ‘Radio,’ which coincided with the release of his Greatest Hits album in 2004. His ninth studio album, Take The Crown, will be released on November 5, 2012.

Last week, Labrinth and Emeli Sande’s duet ‘Our Version Of Events’ also hit the top spot, after they had performed live on X Factor, though they have slipped to third place, in the midweek charts analysis. The X Factor effect shouldn’t be underestimated. Fun have just leapt 29 places with ‘We Are Young’, after they also appeared on the TV talent contest in the UK.

Robbie Williams - Take The Crown Album Review

In 2005, just as Robbie Williams was really starting to get his arms fully elbow-deep in the sort of faecal-quality material that in the end was only really useful for building motorways in China, he hit upon a rare moment of poignancy with the ballad 'Advertising Space'. Co-written by himself and Steven Duffy, the song was released as a single from the otherwise dreadful Intensive Care and, with its lyrics about the tragic fall of a once mighty superstar, it suggested something almost akin to self-awareness.

Robbie Williams - Take The Crown Album Review

Williams solo pop career had, after all, shown a certain amount of promise towards the end of the 1990s, only for the puff of potential to disappear as quickly as his skull had rammed itself snugly between his fleshy arse cheeks. With 'Advertising Space', he seemed to admit that it had all gone a bit tits up as far as the song stuff was concerned, and that change was necessary lest he end up washed out and faded like so many who'd gone before him.

However, following the utter disaster of Rudebox in 2006, the biggest change to the public persona of the now 38 year-old has been a loss of confidence. Say what you want about his output; live, on camera or in front of fans Williams never seemed anything less than infallible, a King before his subjects whose unshakeable self-belief meant that even his worst artistic directions could be tolerated by his devotees. Yet it took just a botched door on the X Factor in 2009 to make it abundantly clear that the artist who once used to antagonise Oasis when they were in their career pomp wasn't quite sure of even his own worth anymore; struggling to get through the door to the stage on that comeback on X Factor, he struggled to gather himself and delivered a performance that stuttered and shook with anxiety, something that's imbued itself within him since.

Celebrities Help Show We're All Proud At The Pride Of Britain Awards

Robbie Williams Alexandra Burke

While the news normally constantly bombards us with the ills of the world, the injustices and atrocities, abuses and deaths, breaches of freedom and crimes of war, The Pride of Britain is a rare and welcome evening of celebration of all that is good in the face of evil.

Jack Carroll was awarded with the Teenager of Courage award. He uses comedy to break down barriers and challenge attitudes towards cerebral palsy, a disability that he suffers with. Another recipient of the Teenager of Courage award was Alice Pyne who is responsible for 40,000 people signing up to the bone marrow register. She said "It was an incredible night and I felt really lucky to hear all the amazing stories behind the awards."

While this show truly shows us how blessed the UK is with courageous and admirable citizens, one question still lingers though; why is it still the celebrities who are revered on the red carpet? Why is it their opinion that is sought out regarding the events of the evening? ...Why are they there? Well, for each of the winners that spoke to the Mirror it's clear that the celebs simply have a greater access to direct lines of influence. Natalia Aggiano who gave one of her kidneys to a complete stranger said "Alexandra [Burke] gave me her email address and said that she's going to do whatever she can to raise awareness about donating kidneys to strangers." Plus, celebrities also have that uncanny ability to really make the day of these incredibly noble teens. Alice said "[Robbie Williams] was wearing one of my pink charity wristbands and I tweeted a picture of him in it. Then he invited me to one of his concerts. I'm really excited about it." Pierce Brosnan, Holly Willoughby, Jamie Rednapp and Jon Bon Jovi were all in attendance to celebrate the amazing young Brits.

Adele- Bittersweet Success In Funeral Charts

Adele Frank Sinatra Monty Python Robbie Williams Eva Cassidy

Adele's instant modern classic 'Someone Like You' immediately struck a chord for those mourning a relationship, so it's no real surprise that this solemn ballad has made it to number 22 in the Co-Operative Funeralcare's chart for funeral songs- a list of the most requested songs at funerals over the past 12 months.

Adele's appearance in the list continues a growing tradition of pop music overtaking the place of hymns at funerals, so found the survey of 250 of the 900 funeral homes run by the Co-Operative. In fact, Gigwise reports that “They found that pop music has replaced hymns in two-thirds of British funerals as hymns have fallen to 30% of funeral music requests.” For the past seven years Frank Sinatra's 'My Way' has topped the list, and is requested at 15% of all funerals. Plus more ironic songs such as Monty Python's 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life' often makes an appearance.

The Top 10 pop songs requested at funerals in 2012 include Eva Cassidy's 'Over the Rainbow', Nat King Cole 'Unforgettable' and Robbie Williams' 'Angels' among others.

Robbie Williams Names Baby Girl ‘Teddy’?

Robbie Williams Ayda Field Take That

Robbie Williams baby girl has arrived safe and sound into the world, with attention on Wednesday turning to the Take That man and wife Ayda Field’s choice of name. Would it match Williams’ personality? Would the couple play it safe? Well, it’s a yes to both, kind of.

The 38-year-old singer took to his blog today to disclose that his baby girl would be named Theodora Rose Williams. Not the world’s most common name, though it’s certainly nothing to rival the more bizarre celebrity baby names of years gone by (Apple, anyone?) However, it seems that Robbie has given his first daughter a little nickname, telling fans that she will be “affectionately known as Teddy,” while adding, “Born 3.33pm on 18.9.12, 7Ibs 4OZ…Baby, Mummy and Daddy are all rockin.... Thank you for your best wishes XXXX.” Robbie had expressed concerns last week that he may miss the London birth of his child while touring other parts of the UK, though he did have a private jet on standby. Of course he did.

Williams and wife Ayda have already confirmed their daughter will grow up as a British citizen, despite the singer owning a home in Los Angeles and spending the majority of his time there over the past couple of years.

Baby Joy: Robbie Williams Gets His Own Angel

Robbie Williams Ayda Field Take That

Robbie Williams can now add Dad to long list of achievements, after his wife Ayda Field gave birth to a baby girl, reports The Sun.

A complicated birth saw Field, 33, go into labour eight days premature, but all is well, and she gave birth to a baby girl at London's private Portland Hospital. Her arrival comes just two days after Robbie finished a string of solo comeback gigs, during which he joked about rushing off-stage if Ayda gave birth, and before his gig in Dublin on September 14 he said: "We thought the baby was going to have to be induced today," but no such action was needed. A close friend of Robbie’s, Jonathan Wilkes tweeted: "Just had the best news!" The pair met in 2006, marrying four years later at Robbie’s home in Los Angeles and it was in March this year they announced that Ayda was expecting their first child.

The former Take That star has been forthcoming in the upcoming months to the birth of his first child. "Ayda's like a very slim girl with a basketball — from the back you can't tell she's pregnant. She has been like an athlete where being pregnant is concerned — she's been a machine," he said, probably trying to compliment his wife. Talking of his impending role of Dad, Williams was equally honest: "It's so alien and also I've lived a very selfish life for a very long time where I haven't had to do anything for myself,” he explained. "I still don't know how to do anything for myself and there's a little person who's going to appear within the week maybe and I'm crapping it because if I don't know how to look after me, how can I look after her?” Well you better figure it out soon, Robbie, because she’s arrived. Only joking: here at Contact Music, we wish the new family all the best.

De-Lovely Review

Good

"This is one of those avant-garde things, is it?" says a droll, dubious and dying Cole Porter (Kevin Kline) as he sits in an empty theater at the beginning of "De-Lovely," watching his life pass before his eyes on the stage, in a production conducted by an enigmatic, ironic, ethereal director named Gabe (Jonathan Pryce).

The answer to his question is a delighted "yes." This film is an imaginative, deconstructionist, celebratory musical biography woven together from elements of theater, meta-cinema, chamber drama and Porter's own MGM musicals with gratifying -- if deliberately glossy -- results.

Kline opens the picture as a frail but feisty old man (the age makeup is remarkable) who, as he watches his own story unfold, is alternatively tickled ("Oh, look, it's an opening number!"), critical ("He'd never wear that! Change it."), fondly reminiscent and pained by regret. And the actor also plays the younger Porter in the bulk of the picture, which has a merry, dreamlike quality to its stop-and-start interactions with the elderly Porter and his theatrical spirit guide.
