Robert De Niro Blasts Donald Trump's 'Draconian' Cuts To The Arts

With news that the US government is planning to make dramatic cuts to the arts, 'The Comedian' star Robert De Niro made his opinions on the subject quite clear as he received the coveted Chaplin Award at the 44th annual Film Society of Lincoln Center honours last night (May 8th 2017).

Robert De Niro Challenged Himself With The Comedian

Robert De Niro

De Niro felt that the time was right for a movie about a comic. "I thought it was such a great idea to do a comedian," he says. "That has never really been done before. Maybe The Entertainer [the 1960 drama starring Laurence Olivier]. But not like this. And a comedian can do things that are more outrageous, even if it's not my personal taste. That was my attraction."

He also relished the challenge of learning to actually do a stand-up comedy routine. "It's hard," he admits. "You have to have the right material. I worked on this material, but it wasn't like I worked on it for years and had it all there. I don't know how to deal with a heckler. That takes a lot of experience! I did OK, but you just have to get through it. Even though my audience was extras, you can feel like you're dying out there if they don't laugh. You want a reaction."

The Comedian - Clip & Trailer

Once, Jackie Burke was one of the biggest names in town; he was a comedian with his own show on a prime network and his life looked like he was set. Now, aging and working as a stand-up comic, Jackie wants to reinvent himself and forget about all the old jokes he used to tell and characters he used to play but that's far from what the bookers and audience members want - they wish to see the old Jackie Burke performing his known material.

One night Jackie takes to the stage and he can only take a certain amount of crowd heckling, fed up he lashes out at an audience member and as a result, the comedian is incarcerated and made to carry out a community service order.

Though Jackie had to serve a short sentence, the footage of Jackie hitting the heckler has made him an internet sensation and introduced a whole load of new fans to him.

Roberto "Manos de Piedra" Duran was fierce in the ring, his poor upbringing on the streets of Panama all contributed to the man he became. He's extremely tough but his wild streak stops him from becoming the champion he ought to be.

Enter Ray Arcel, Arcel was an old pro, the best of the best and had taken many boxers into the ring and seen them come out the champion. Arcel could clearly see that Duran had a gift and though technically the trainer was retired, Duran's talent made him take his place back at the side of the ring.

Robert De Niro Defends His Support For Anti-Vaccination Movie

Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro has once again re-stated his reasons for including a controversial anti-vaccination movie on the schedule for his Tribeca Film Festival this year – even though he has already taken the decision to remove it from the bill following an online outcry.

The 72 year old actor, whose 18 year old son suffers from autism, appeared on the ‘Today’ show on NBC on Wednesday (April 13th) to re-state his belief that Vaxxed, a documentary about the widely discredited medical theory linking childhood vaccinations to autism, should have been shown at the annual film festival he curates.

Robert De Niro Pulls Anti-Vaccination Movie From Tribeca Film Festival Schedule

Robert De Niro

A controversial film about vaccination has been removed from the bill at Robert De Niro’s Tribeca Film Festival this year, after the actor found “concerns with certain things in this film” having taken advice from the scientific community.

As the co-founder of the NY film festival and as the father of an autistic child, the legendary actor had found himself in a quandary as to how to proceed with the documentary movie Vaxxed: from Cover-Up to Catastrophe. He had at first defended his decision to screen the film, but has now reversed his position having sought advice from experts.

Repeated studies have discredited the persistent theory that there’s a link between childhood vaccinations and autism, but a small and vocal minority of activists has for years sought to uncover a conspiracy in the medical profession.

Joy Review

Extraordinary

After Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, mercurial filmmaker David O. Russell reunites with Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro for an offbeat biopic about the woman who invented the Miracle Mop. It's such a quirky movie that it's destined to divide audiences, but there's magic in Russell's loose, inventive filmmaking style. And this lively story has a lot to say about the tenacity required to achieve the American dream.

Joy Mangano (Lawrence) is the only sensible person in her family, so she's been running the household most of her life. But now things are getting a bit too complicated, as her father Rudy (De Niro) moves back into the house after his second marriage fails, Joy's mother Terry (Virginia Madsen) does little but watch her favourite soap opera, Joy's ex-husband Tony (Edgar Ramirez) lives in the basement pursuing his dream of becoming a pop star, and her sister (Dascha Polanco) undermines everything she does. As Joy cares for her own children, it's only her grandmother (Diane Ladd) who has any confidence in her. And when she has a flash of inspiration and creates a self-wringing mop, getting it on the market is an uphill battle. Finally, she catches the attention of Neil (Bradley Cooper), who runs a brand new shopping network called QVC.

The story spans some 40 years, during which Russell gleefully parallels Joy's family chaos with the lurid soap on Terry's television. Of the people around Joy, only Grandma, Tony and her childhood buddy Peggy (Elizabeth Rohm) believe in her. So even though her dad's new girlfriend (the fabulous Isabella Rossellini) invests in her mop, no one thinks she'll achieve any real success. This means that Joy's journey is a series of sometimes outrageous obstacles both within and outside her immediate circle. And of course the biggest barrier is her gender, because almost no one accepts the idea that she might be a genius.

Actor Robert De Niro has been opening up about his artist father ahead of his HBO documentary, 'Remembering the Artist: Robert De Niro, Sr.' Apart from being the father of a Hollywood icon, De Niro Sr was a talented painter, who also happened to be openly gay. The woman who holds the copyright to a 1963 screenplay has been told that she can pursue infringement claims against the studio behind 1980's Raging Bull. Paula Petrella, whose father Frank Petrella wrote the screenplay she claims led to the acclaimed Martin Scorsese picture, may be entitled to royalties from the movie even though she didn't begin pursuing infringement claims until decades after her father's death.

Ms. Petrella argues that MGM Holdings Inc. and Twentieth Century Fox are guilty of infringing the copyright of a screenplay written much earlier, with subsidiary company Fox as a named defendant. MGM has disputed whether the movie really was based on Mr. Petrella's screenplay and won dismissal of the lawsuit by arguing that Ms. Petrella had sat on her claims for too long.

Should You See 'Grudge Match'? Rocky V Raging Bull? No, No You Shouldn't.

Sylvester Stallone Robert De Niro

Why do Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone do this king of thing? They’re both revered as legends of cinema, to be remembered forever for their classic turns as Travis Bickle, Jake LaMotta, Rocky and Rambo respectively, so why do they both insist on doing truly awful films like Grudge Match?

Robert De Niro and Sylvester StalloneWhy, why, why Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone?

The short answer would involve the words, money, loads of it, and payday, but there’s a sneaking suspicion that these Hollywood stalwarts actually think the constant slew of unfunny, unimaginative reboot/reunion movies are a good idea – like they’ve got an ounce of artistic integrity attached to them. They don’t.

'Raging Bull' Lawsuit Rumbles On As Petrella Looks For Knockout Hit

On Tuesday, the fight between Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and the daughter of one of the Raging Bull screenwriters, Frank Petrella, took centre stage at the Supreme Court.

Paula Petrella, who now owns her deceased father's copyright share, claims the studio owes her damages for the distribution of the movie, starring Robet De Niro.  However at the centre of the argument is why it took Petrella so long to file her copyright claim, with some feeling she was waiting until the film's 25th anniversary in order to make more money. MGM has already won an appeals court case in California on these grounds.

Five Actors, Five Oscar Winners, But Is 'Last Vegas' Any Good?

Robert De Niro Morgan Freeman Michael Douglas

It's hard to remember another film in which the five lead roles were played by Oscar winners. And the fact that all of them are over 60 might be another record. So Last Vegas couldn't help but draw attention due to its casting long before anyone knew what it was about (although the concept isn't exactly deep and complex).

Michael Douglas has two Oscars: for producing best picture One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and as best actor in Wall Street (1987). Robert De Niro also has two: supporting actor for The Godfather Part II (1974) and best actor for Raging Bull (1980). Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline both have supporting actor awards, for Million Dollar Baby (2004) and A Fish Called Wanda (1988), respectively. And Mary Steenburgen won supporting actress for Melvin and Howard (1980).

Robert De Niro Sylvester Stallone Alan Arkin Kevin Hart Kim Basinger

Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone are no strangers to putting on their boxing gloves for the sake of the movies and in their latest film, Grudge Match, the two screen icons are putting their respective ages aside to step into the ring once again. The film comes with a lot of promise, starring Alan Arkin, Kevin Hart and Kim Basinger alongside the two screen titans, yet sadly the overall response to the film from critics has been very underwhelming.

Grudge Match
Stallone, Arkin, Hart and De Niro miss the mark with their latest film

The film stars Stallone and De Niro as two retired boxers, both well past their best, who ended their career with a long-standing and unresolved feud some years earlier. After meeting each other for the first time in years in a chance encounter, their feud returns and boils into a confrontation that ends in a melee of sorts, one that almost instantly goes viral and reignites interest in the former fighters. Soon they are receiving offers to return to the ring and settle their feud once and for all, but they can only make it into the ring if they can actually regain their fitness in time for the big fight.

Criminal Justice: It's About Time Robert De Niro Turned To Television

Robert De Niro James Gandolfini

Robert De Niro has been hired to replace James Gandolfini in a new HBO mini-series Criminal Justice, following the death of The Sopranos star in June. De Niro will play a New York lawyer in the show, which Gandolfini had been developing based on the 2008 BBC series by Peter Moffat.

Following the actor's sudden death in Rome, it initially appeared as though HBO had put the project on the backburner, though, according to Deadline.com, the team were keen to continue in Gandolfini's honor.

Deadline Hollywood's TV Editor Nellie Andreeva said the network wanted "a great actor whom Gandolfini would have wanted for the role and who would honour Gandolfini's memory with his performance," adding, "I hear their list consisted of one name only, Robert De Niro, who responded and came on board."

Robert De Niro Replaces The Late James Gandolfini In HBO's Miniseries 'Criminal Justice'

James Gandolfini Robert De Niro

‘Criminal Justice’ HBO will be continuing with plans to make a seven-part miniseries called ‘Criminal Justice’ that was originally meant to star the late actor James Gandolfini.

In late June of this year (2013) the 51 year, James Gandolfini, unfortunately passed away while on vacations with his son in Italy. Ever since then the show was thought to be completely disbanded but academy award-winning actor Robert De Niro has reportedly stepped in to take over the role with HBO remaining Gandolfini as an executive producer posthumously, according to Deadline.

What Is It About "The Family" That Makes It So Unloved By Critics?

Robert De Niro Michelle Pfeiffer Tommy Lee Jones John D'Leo

The Family sounds great on paper – a Luc Besson film, set in France, starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeifer, Tommy Lee Jones and Diana Argon – it would take a… the opposite of a miracle for this film to flop. However, the critics just don’t seem to be warming up to this comedy about the family of an American mobster, relocating to rural France and essentially harassing the locals for almost two hours. There are a number of reasons, cited against the family – the acting not being one of them, of course – but the one that seems to be sticking is the uninspired story (penned by Besson himself, along with Michael Caleo, based on the novel by Tonino Benacquista).

Robert De Niro, The Family Still
De Niro manages to shine even in a lackluster role.

De Niro has plenty of experience playing mobsters. His performance as Gio, a gangster-turned-rat, who is forced to pose as a writer, living with his family in a village in Normandy and simultaneously penning a memoir, gets almost universal thumbs up, The New York Times’ Stephen Holden calls De Niro’s performance “surprisingly nuanced” and his character – “charming in a rough-hewed way, but lethal.”

Harvey Weinstein Dusts Off 'Artemis Fowl' From Disney's Bottom Drawer

Harvey Weinstein Robert De Niro Disney

Well, this has come from leftfield. After leaving Disney in 2005 to set up The Weinstein Company, the most powerful man in Hollywood is re-teaming with his old employer for an intriguing little animation.

Harvey Weinstein has announced he is developing an adaptation of Artemis Fowl for the big-screen with Disney.

"If you would have told me five years ago I would be producing a project with Disney I would have thought you were crazy," said Weinstein in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, "I feel as though everything is coming full circle considering Bob De Niro and Jane Rosenthal brought me this book while I was still at Miramax and within hours I told them I wanted the rights to the film."

Is 'The Counselor' Set For The Oscars? [Trailer]

Ridley Scott Brad Pitt Penelope Cruz Cameron Diaz Javier Bardem Michael Fassbender Sylvester Stallone Robert De Niro

The trailer for Ridley Scott's upcoming gritty thriller The Counselor dropped yesterday, after the initial teaser was circulated in cryptic Russian. With a November release date, there's certainly enough time to build up anticipation for the film, which is written by No Country For Old Men screenwriter, Cormac McCarthy.

Michael FassbenderMichael Fassbender Filming A Scene From The Counselor

There may be added logic to the late-2013 release date however: to give itself the best chances for 2014 Oscars consideration. The Counselor stars Michael Fassbender (Shame, Prometheus) who plays a lawyer who gets involved in cocaine trafficking and ends up in over his head with the wrong people. According to First Showing, Fassbender teams up in business with a rich acquaintance, played by Bardem, as Pitt's shady criminal character comes out of the shadows as things take a turn for the worst. In an incredible cast, Fassbender's co-stars include Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz and Cameron Diaz.Despite their cinematic fame and success, neither Scott nor Pitt have ever won an Oscar before, with Pitt apparently resigning himself to never winning, having said: "I don't play the Oscars game." November release dates tend to be awards friendly, due to being late enough to not be forgotten amongst the year's other cinematic releases but not too late as to have not made enough of an impression.

By Some Miracle I Made It Out Of There - The Shocking Rise And Fall Of Tom Sizemore

Tom Sizemore Robert De Niro

Tom Sizemore’s autobiography ‘By Some Miracle I Made It Out of There’ details the actor’s dramatic fall from grace. Known for his roles in movies such as Saving Private Ryan and Natural Born Killers, at one point, Sizemore had it all; a successful career, money and a restaurant he part-owned with Robert De Niro.

However, as with many a Hollywood star before him (and no doubt plenty to follow), drugs proved to be Tom Sizemore’s downfall and he lost everything. “I’d had the multimillion-dollar house, the Porsche, the restaurant I partially owned with Robert De Niro. And now I had absolutely nothing.” During his relationship with the former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss that Sizemore’s life really began to disintegrate. In 2003, he was convicted of “harassing, annoying and physically abusing Fleiss,” Salon.com reports. the actor admits to having become a “spoiled movie star” and an “arrogant fool” though he denies ever striking Heidi.

Salon describe the book as a hard-hitting one, written in “coarse prose befitting some of the hard-boiled characters Sizemore brought to life on screen.” The subject matter is not easy to take either, much of the time, with Tom’s tales of degradation taking up much of the pages – “sex tapes, copious amounts of drug taking” and other debauched activity that led to the star’s downfall. Summing up his approach to the autobiography, Tom writes “I’ve led an interesting life, but I can’t tell you what I’d give to be the guy you didn’t know anything about.”

Oscar Nominations 2013: After 21 Years, Robert De Niro Is Back Where He Belongs

Robert De Niro, Silver Linings PlaybookRobert De Niro Has Every Reason To Smile After His Oscar Nomination For Silver Linings Playbook

Robert De Niro got the nod for Best Supporting Actor when the Oscar nominations for 2013 were announced by Seth MacFarlane and Emma Stone in Los Angeles on Thursday morning (January 8, 2013). The Hollywood veteran received a shout for his turn in David O'Russell's drama-comedy Silver Linings Playbook, with lead star Bradley Cooper getting nominated for Best Actor.

Though Cooper will battle the frankly unbeatable Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln) and the respected Joaquin Phoenix (The Master) for Best Actor, De Niro could be onto a good thing in the supporting category. He plays the father of Pat Solitano (Cooper) a former school teacher who loses everything, his job, his house, his wife and is forced to live back with his parents (Mother played by Jacki Weaver, who also scored a nomination). Critic Robert Roten said, "The plot is clever and a bit unconventional. Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro all turn in wonderful performances in this very funny, very warm comedy."

John Travolta Looking Towards Vince Lombardi Biopic

John Travolta John Woo Robert De Niro

John Travolta has been talking of some ideas for future projects at the opening of the Zurich Film Festival and they include a potential reunion with Face/Off director John Woo.

“I’m also considering doing a US film about the football coach Vince Lombardi, who coached my dad [Salvatore Travolta] before he went professional,” Travolta said. “I would play Vince Lombardi.” Legendary coach Lombardi is best known as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers during the 1960s when he led them to three straight league championships and the first two Super Bowls. The Super Bowl trophy is named in his honour. He’s also “entertaining the possibility of doing” a remake of the John Woo film The Killer. The 1989 action film - which starred Chow Yun Fat - is to be produced by Woo. It looks like despite Travolta’s age, his appetite for films isn’t letting up just yet. As well as big talk surrounding his future endevours, the action thriller Killing Season, in which he stars alongside Robert De Niro is in post production and set for a 2013 release. Set in the remote Smoky Mountain wilderness, the film sees two veterans of the Bosnian War, one American, one Serbian, come to blows.

It wasn’t long ago that the Pulp Fiction actor was ready to pack it in: "I lost my son a few years ago and I had been having quite a time of that and after three years getting a lot of support from my church and a lot of support from people, fans, family I decided that it was OK to go back to work because I'd even thought of retiring at one point because it felt like too much," he told BBC Breakfast.

Matheson is quick to dismiss Buckley's case telling him that he doesn't need to be investigated as he was already investigated prior to his retirement. However, the real reason is that she suspects he was behind the death of his most notable critic all those years ago. Buckley ignores Matheson's warnings and enlists his talented student Sally to help him with his investigations, but soon things start to take a sinister turn as Silver becomes increasingly angered at the people questioning his mysterious powers.

Great Expectations (1998) Review

Weak
You know, I didn't like the book Great Expectations when I was in high school, so I don't know why anyone thought it would be liked any better now. Hawke's meddling with the story is well-documented (including changing the main character's name from Pip to Finn). Then there's the updating to the 20th century, making Pip, er, Finn an artist (and a bad one at that), Bancroft's horrific drag-queenish dance instructor. De Niro's lost expression. Ugh. I'll take the book over this.

Brazil Review

Essential
Sam Lowry (Jonathan Pryce) is a civil servant Dilbert at the Ministry of Information. He's a low level office grunt typing his way through a lifetime of meaningless papers in a retro-future totalitarian state. His one escape from his dreary life is his dreams. Bursting with vivid colors, Sam's visions see him with armored wings rising into the bright sky above the cold city. There, in the firmament, Sam battles with Darkness to free a blonde beauty (Kim Greist) imprisoned in a floating cage.

Unfortunately, there are no happy endings for dreamers in this alternate world. Sam always awakens to his mind-numbing existence, only plugging away in a system that rewards only blandness, appeasing his socialite mother (addicted to face lifts) whose only wish is to see her meek son move his way up a corporate ladder to nowhere.

The King Of Comedy Review

Excellent
The King of Comedy is a wholly original and entirely offbeat, dark comedy about fame, obsessive fandom, and the medium from which they both feed: television. The film careens from witty satire to difficult melodrama to downright silly and back again. And while King, made in 1983, does appear slightly dated, Scorsese's first film after Raging Bull and perhaps most underappreciated work (or at least a close second to The Last Temptation of Christ) deserves to be seen. And with the recently released DVD, maybe it will.

The film concerns aspiring comedian and completely obtuse Rupert Pupkin, played by Robert De Niro in one of his few comic performances. Kings, however, is no Analyze This or ; De Niro gives a brilliant and, at times, disturbing portrayal of a man so obsessed by fame and enthralled with his idols that he kidnaps comedian and late night talk show host Jerry Langford (Jerry Lewis in a thinly veiled parody of his own star image) in order to get his big break and show the world that Rupert Pupkin is the new king of comedy. The problem is that he is not that funny, and his self-deprecating brand of humor quickly becomes sad as it traverses the line from joke to personal trauma.

Men Of Honor Review

Good
Diving movies rule!

I just can't seem to get enough of the thrill of the being submerged in hundreds of feet of water with the ever-present threat of drowning all around me. How can you argue with that?

The Godfather: Part II Review

Extraordinary
The inimitable Godfather story continues in The Godfather Part II.

Unlike many critics, I don't feel the sequel has the weight of the original -- many feel it to be better than the first film -- but it certainly is a necessary and extremely good follow-up, adding a wealth of information about "the family" that only serves to enhance the experience of the original movie. The problem, of course, is how could you measure up to The Godfather? The truly memorable scenes from the series -- the spilling cart of oranges, the horse's head, Michael's vengeance in the Italian restaurant, "an offer he couldn't refuse" -- are all found in the original, not here (or at best, they are simply repeated in the sequel). Godfather 2's most memorable moments -- the Senator's private meeting with Michael ("My offer is this: Nothing."), the denouement of Fredo -- pale in comparison. Well, not exactly pale, but you can't say that Godfather 2 is as good as Numero Uno.

Sleepers Review

Excellent
How on earth did Kevin Bacon get top billing in a cast that includes Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Brad Pitt, and Jason Patric -- just for starters? That's just one of the disturbing aspects of Sleepers (and I don't mean that in a bad way), Barry Levinson's new drama/thriller that finally redeems him for the idiocy of Disclosure and Toys.

Based on the extremely controversial novel, Sleepers tells what is purported to be a true story of revenge in Hell's Kitchen in New York City. Four early-teenaged friends (played as adults by Patric, Pitt, Ron Eldard, and Billy Crudup -- who I have to mention just because I like to say "Crudup") are sent to a juvenile center when a prank goes wrong and almost kills a bystander. The brutality that occurs in the center does not need to be expounded upon, but suffice it's very horrible, and that guard Sean Nokes (Bacon) is the baddest of the bad guys.

Raging Bull Review

Essential
Twenty-five years since its release, Martin Scorsese's masterpiece Raging Bull has been crowned with so many critical laurels that another word in praise of it might seem hopelessly redundant. To claim that it puts to shame virtually any American film made since sounds about right, but it might be more worthwhile to note how the film showcases Scorsese's artistic genius in its purest form -- unsullied by ego, commercial pressures, or the self-doubt that can cloud a more jaded artist's vision. Raging Bull is a work of religious devotion by a filmmaker to his craft and an apotheosis of Scorsese's promise.

The film charts the life and career of boxer Jake LaMotta (Robert De Niro) from his rise to glory in the 1940s to his fall into washed-up grotesquery in the '50s, a lounge lizard parody of his former self. That LaMotta turns into the very sort of schmuck, fat-bellied and dissipated, that he would've abhorred in his youth marks one of Scorsese's most poignant treatments of his trademark theme of the individual struggling to transcend his worst instincts to achieve greatness and grace. Anger and bitterness are ever-present here, either churning at the film's surface or roiling just below in slow burn. LaMotta, the insecure hothead who chafes at the underworld hoods who've ensnared him, directs his rage outward in the form of sexual jealousy at his wife, Vickie (Cathy Moriarty), and through his tornado-like fury in the ring. The boxer's battle for self-acceptance even threatens the most meaningful and enduring relationship he's got, the one with his brother and manager, Joey (Joe Pesci); indeed, Raging Bull is, to a large extent, about the effect of blind ambition on our most meaningful, enduring relationships.

Godsend Review

Weak
Watching Godsend compares to eating a gallon of fudge-filled chocolate ice cream minutes before going to bed. You know it's bad for you, but the experience is tons of fun. Soon enough, though, the gooey dessert stops tasting so good. By the time you near the bottom of the container, you can't even justify why you continue to swallow spoonfuls, but you keep eating despite the fact that it doesn't make sense to continue.

That also explains director Nick Hamm's jackhammer approach to his material. He knows he's working with a cheesy campfire story, the kind best whispered to terrified boy scouts in the dead of night. But he's sadly unaware of when enough is enough, and his final act becomes a series of ludicrous scientific explanations offset by cheap jolts to our nervous system.

Flawless Review

Weak

The recipe for Joel Schumacher's post-"Batman" cry for redemption goes a little something like this:

Take one part "As Good As It Gets," but give the anti-social bigot a gritty, blue-collar bent and a debilitating stroke instead of an obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Add one part irritating drag queen movie ("To Wong Fu..." will do nicely) and two parts syrupy, medicinal social commentary.

Analyze This Review

Weak

Yes, "Analyze This" has many generous burstsof hilarity, especially with Robert De Niro goofing on the kind of mobsterroles that made him by playing a mafioso with high anxiety.

Yes, casting him as a hoodlum headcase opposite Billy Crystalas his reluctant shrink is damn funny all by itself.

No, this isn't enough to carry the picture. In fact "AnalyzeThis" degrades so dramatically that in the last act Crystal is reducedto ad libbing through an over-long mock-wise guy schtick, taking his bestshot at Robin Williams-dom and tanking.
