The Hollywood legend says there’s no downside in younger actors asking veterans for advice.
Of all the stars a young actor could want to get advice from, Robert De Niro is probably at the top of most people’s lists. With a film career spanning over 50 years, the Oscar winning actor has made more than 90 movies and has plenty of wisdom to impart on the younger generation.
Robert De Niro says he enjoys giving advice to the younger generation.
Speaking about what each generation can learn from the other, De Niro said, “Theres no downside in asking somebody who’s been around a lot longer than you, especially if they've done things that you've done, or in that area.”
“Someone in the theatre or movies asking a person what to look out for, I've done that with people when I was younger especially. It’s a good thing.”

De Niro also added that he enjoys giving advice to those who ask and may even offer some pearls of wisdom if he feels an actor needs some help. “I enjoy giving advice to people if they ask. Or maybe I’ll volunteer it if I really feel they’re going to hit a wall of some sort,” the 72 year old said.
In his latest film, The Intern, De Niro stars opposite Anne Hathaway as a senior citizen who interns at an e-commerce fashion company. But De Niro himself has actually never experienced life as an intern, but says it’s ‘a great thing to do if you're in a position with someone who can be a mentor.’

The film was written and directed by Something's Gotta Give’s Nancy Meyers and the Oscar winner admitted he was flattered when the director offered him the part of Ben. “Nancy told me about this script she sent it to me offered it to me, I read it and said absolutely,” De Niro said.
“I was flattered when she asked me to do because I know she’s very much a stickler for detail," he added. "So I knew she made sure she wanted me before she made that decision and the offer and it made me feel good.”
