RT @fp_coalition: Out NOW! Here’s another deep dive into the #DownstreamChannel with our extended podcast interview with @Astro_Flow !🚀🏈🎙🌎💚…
Marvel fans will love the action mayhem in this Avengers sequel, but everyone else will vividly feel the fatigue that has descended over this franchise. After the bright spark of originality in last summer's Guardians of the Galaxy, we're back to the same tired formula involving terrific actors battling for screen time in between gratuitous, brutal action sequences that are so digitally animated that they're technically cartoons.
The film opens in the middle of the action as Captain America (Chris Evans) leads Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye (Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner) to recapture an Asgardian sceptre. Tony then discovers that the sceptre could be useful for Ultron, his artificial intelligence project to create a global peacekeeping force. But this goes badly wrong as Ultron (James Spader) springs to life and decides instead to obliterate humanity to make space for his population of smart machines. So the team races from America to Africa, Korea and Eastern Europe, facing off against Ultron and his super-powered twin cohorts Pietro and Wanda (Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen), who of course defect to the Avengers. They also get help from a human-computer entity called The Vision (Paul Bettany).
Yes, there are a lot of characters in this film, and writer-director Joss Whedon is exceptionally good at giving each of them something to do, both dramatically and in the thick of the action. These brief moments of humour and emotional depth are what make the movie enjoyable, giving the solid actors some meaty material to play with.

Robert Downey Jr walked out of an interview with Kristin Guru-Murphy.
You've probably seen it by now - Robert Downey Jr storming out of an interview with Channel 4's Kristin-Guru Murphy after the line of questioning turned quite sharply from Avengers: Age of Ultron to the actor's previous dalliances with drugs and jail.
Robert Downey Jr stormed out of an interview with Kristin-Guru Murphy
Guru-Murphy first asked the actor to explain a past quote he gave to the New York Times in which he said: "I have a really interesting political point of view, and it's not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here. But you can't go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal."

The 50 year old actor was speaking to Channel 4’s Krishnan Guru-Murthy about his new film Avengers: The Age of Ultron when he shut the whole thing down, saying “It’s getting a little Diane Sawyer in here,” referencing the famous news anchor.
The interview seemed to be going very well, with Guru-Murthy asking questions the character of ‘Iron Man’, the qualities that Downey has brought to the role, and whether he was a fan of comic book heroes and superheroes as a youngster.

Ahead of the release of 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron', Robert Downey Jr. took some time to discuss his character Tony Stark, and what to look out for in the upcoming movie. He spent some time discussing where his character was at the beginning of the film, and what he takes his time to do over the course of the film, as well as explaining the dynamic between the cast and the director, Joss Whedon. Downey Jr. also took some time to explain how the cast had never envisioned how successful the first film would be, and how the second was such a difficult job for them, with all the added audience expectations.

It’s exciting to be a part of something that you know fans are going to see, that they're excited about. It's intimidating, but the truth is Marvel has yet to let me down.”
And here is your weekly Avengers fix, courtesy of RDJ.

The world has just got another reason to love Robert Downey Jr! The Iron Man and Avengers star took some time out to present a little boy with a 3-D printed bionic arm. Seven year old Alex was born with a partially developed right arm, and the artificial limb was manufactured to look exactly like Downey’s superhero character’s red and gold robotic arm.
Downey posted a heart-warming video of their meeting on his Facebook page on Thursday. In it, the actor adopted the charming on-screen persona of Tony Stark / Iron Man and engaged in a Stark-esque conversation with Alex, who was dressed in a bow-tie.

Paul Bettany, who plays The Vision in the upcoming 'Avengers' movie, has been overwhelmed by the size of 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' set and he's not the only one.
Paul Bettany was shocked with the size and scale of The Avengers: Age of Ultron set. The 43-year-old actor has previously had a role in The Avengers Assemble and the Iron Man trilogy as the voice of Iron Man's computer JARVIS but he plays the villain, The Vision, in the upcoming Avengers film.
Paul Bettany stars as The Vision in The Avengers: The Age of Ultron.
They've fought private military corporations, Nazi splinter-groups and a Norse god. Now, The Avengers assemble once again to celebrate their success. But when a new project from Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) reveals itself to be sentient and ready to bring the world to its knees, The Avengers are ready to fight amongst themselves while the threat of Ultron (James Spader) grows his strength, and gains allegiance from Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). Meanwhile, Stark is seeing hostility from Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) while Captain America (Chris Evans) desperately tries to bring the team back together to stop the Age of Ultron.

The 2015 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards saw accolades going to some very well-deserved movies from the last year - with some even more well-deserved individuals picking them up.
Unsurprisingly, the Ensemble Cast Award went to the actors from 'The Imitation Game'; a movie depicting the era-defining career of codebreaker Alan Turing during World War II and his subsequent arrest for being homosexual. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role, with the likes of Allen Leech, Matthew Beard and Alex Lawther - the latter of whom plays Turing's younger self. Directed by the BAFTA nominated Morten Tyldum, the movie has already been nominated for five Golden Globes, and it definitely looks to be in line for an Academy Award.

A lot has happened since the Battle of New York. The world was attacked by Norse God, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), causing a united force of tech super-hero Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), reanimated World War Two super soldier Captain America (Chris Evans) and Loki's brother - the Norse God of thunder, Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Two years on, the Avengers have worked to defeat evil in Godly realm of Asgard, on planet Earth, and within S.H.I.E.L.D., the organisation that brought them together in the first place. Now, with Iron Man in retirement and S.H.I.E.L.D. in disarray, the world is suddenly threatened by Ultron (James Spader), a robot who seeks to destroy the Avengers now that he has been unshackled.

'Avengers: Age of Ultron' trailer has leaked a week earlier - but what does it tell us?
The first trailer for The Avengers: Age of Ultron - likely to be one of the biggest grossing movies of all time - has been leaked online a week before its intended preview on TV. The clip was supposed to air during the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D television series but made its way online on Wednesday (October 22, 2014).
Is Iron Man sacrificing himself for Paul Bettany's character Vision?
The source of the leak is unclear, though Marvel appeared to do the smart thing and after making light of the situation on Twitter ("Dammit, Hydra), they released a HD version.

This generational drama strains so hard to be serious that it's almost laughable. Its big themes are only superficially addressed, while the bloated nearly two and a half hour running time could easily have been cut down simply by eliminating all of the emotive close-ups of actors with tears welling in their eyes. In other words, while there are the bare bones of a decent movie in here, it's been badly compromised to turn it into Oscar bait.
At least it starts well, with a sequence centred on Hank (Robert Downey Jr), a slick Chicago lawyer with a precocious daughter (Emma Tremblay) and an angry trophy wife (Sarah Lancaster) who has had enough. Hank's cold-hearted ways are a legacy of his estranged relationship with his father Joseph (Robert Duvall), the no-nonsense judge in a small-town Indiana town. Then Hank is called home when his mother dies, comforting his brothers Glen (Vincent D'Onofrio), whose injured hand ended his baseball career, and Dale (Jeremy Strong), who is mentally challenged. He also rekindles his youthful romance with waitress Sam (Vera Farmiga). Then Joseph is arrested for murder, and Hank steps in to help inexperienced lawyer CP (Dax Shepard) defend him against the shark-like prosecutor (Billy Bob Thornton).
There isn't a single subtle element in this film, as the script is carefully constructed to pull our sympathies back and forth even though both Hank and Joseph are deeply unlikeable grumps. Downey and Duvall are good enough actors to make them watchable, but director David Dobkin (The Change-up) hammers every sentimental scene home with far too much force. And the script is so simplistic that it chickens out before anything interesting happens. Even the court case lacks something compelling to draw the audience in. It certainly doesn't help that the characters are all deeply contrived. Just one example: there's a disability for each of the three brothers: physical, emotional and mental.

The 49 year-old actor is allegedly close to signing a deal that will see him portray Tony Stark in the next 'Captain America' instalment.
It appears that two of the Avengers will be collaborating outside of the rest of their fellow superheroes as Robert Downey Jr. will be reportedly bringing Iron Man to the set of 'Captain America 3.'
Could 'Iron Man' be crossing over to the 'Captain America' franchise?
According to Variety, the 49 year-old actor who has given life to billionaire Tony Stark is in final negotiations to join the cast of the yet-untitled third instalment that follows Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), which is slated for a release date of May 6, 2016.

Robert Downey Jr has finally confirmed he is in negotiations to reprise his role as Tony Stark in 'Iron Man 4'.

Robert Downey Jr. wouldn't dream of contacting his old flame Sarah Jessica Parker without her husband Matthew Broderick's permission.
Despite denying a fourth 'Iron Man' movie is in the works, the 49 year-old will reprise the superhero role once again if his good pal Mel Gibson takes the helm.
Marvel should listen closely to one of their 'Avengers'! The star of the 'Iron Man' franchise Robert Downey Jr. recently revealed that he is open to play Tony Starks one more time if his good friend Mel Gibson can direct the fourth instalment.
Downey would rerpise the role of 'Iron Man' if Gibson would direct a fourth film
Gibson has been one of Hollywood's biggest movie stars for the past three decades, but his career took a turn for the worse in 2006 when he shouted anti-Semitic remarks to a police officer who apprehended him during a DUI arrest.
The ‘Avengers’ actor thinks his friend deserves another chance from Hollywood.
Any Iron Man fans who might have had an emotional meltdown over the prospect of Robert Downey Jr not returning for a fourth movie can now dry their eyes, as it seems a compromise may have be found. The only problem is, that compromise involves Marvel allowing troubled actor Mel Gibson to step behind the camera.
Robert Downey Jr has said there are no plans for a fourth Iron Man movie
In an interview with Deadline, Downey was asked wether he thought the actor (who directed him in 2003’s The Singing Detective) should be able to star and direct major Hollywood films again. “He’s a fundamentally different guy,” began Downey.
Elsie Ann Downey passed away on Monday September 22nd at the age of 80.
Robert Downey Jr has posted a touching tribute to his mother on Facebook following her death earlier this week at the age of 80. Writing that a “generic obit won’t suffice”, Downey spoke at length about Elsie Ann Downey’s life as well as her professional and personal influence on him.

The 49 year-old actor nearly destroyed his movie career due to issues with drugs and alcohol.
Robert Downey Jr. may be one of Hollywood's most likeable personalities today, but there was a time when the 49 year-old actor was anything but the 'Iron Man,' and more worrying it seems his oldest son is following in his footsteps.
Downey struggled with addiction throughout his acting career
Downey's career may appear hugely successful, but the majority of his time in the limelight has been plagued by issues with drug and alcohol abuse, which evenly landed him in Jail, and he opens up about these struggling times in a new Vanity Fair cover story.
Robert Downey Jr has extinguished speculation of 'Iron Man 4', while laughing off any suggestion that he would be the one to decide who plays Tony Stark next.
Given Marvel's recent success with Guardians of the Galaxy, a string of release date announcements and Robert Downey Jr's recent publicity jaunt, it probably comes as a both a surprise and disappointment that - according to Tony Stark himself - the studio has no plans for Iron Man 4.

In a new interview with Variety, the actor shot down speculation of a fourth outing for Marvel's most bankable character.
