Robert Downey Jr. is glad people don't think 'The Avengers' looks "like garbage".

The 'Due Date' actor - who is set to reprise the role of Iron Man in the forthcoming Marvel comic book adaptation - admits leaked clips of the film are "important" but he is pleased criticism has been kept to a minimum.

He told Collider.com "When you're in Albuquerque you can keep a bit more of a lid on things and it's just nice to know that people are interested and nowadays the feedback from those sorts of leaks or moments are so important.

"So I don't know. I think we're just happy that people aren't saying it looks like garbage."

'The Avengers' stars a number of comic book heroes - including Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury - and Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, has previously confessed he and Australian actor Chris Hemsworth get on particularly well on set.

He said: "Hemsworth and I are kind of in the same boat, especially on this film. Everyone on 'The Avengers' is so accomplished and experienced. So Hemsworth and I are kind of in unchartered waters. But it's been great for us to have each other.

"So the first day I came on set - the thing that really did it for me was Thor. Seeing the suit was awesome. And Hemsworth - he is Thor! Have you seen him? He's the guy! He's huge. And his cape on and his wig - and it's like oh my god, this guy's the god of thunder!"
