The 28 year-old actor feels that the 'Twilight' saga became "saturated" when the marketing team decided to "push the 'team aspect of it."
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart first met on the set of 'Twilight' back in 2009, and their love grew stronger throughout all five instalments of the vampire film series.
But in real-life their romance came to a quick halt in 2012 when Stewart's affair with her 'Snow Wight and the Huntsman' director, Rupert Sanders, surfaced.
Almost two years have gone since the 24 year-old actress was secretly photographed kissing the filmmaker, and even though R-Patz attempted to get back with her for a short while, the pair haven't been an item or some time.
But do they still communicate? "Oh yeah," Pattinson light-heartedly said to The Hollywood Reporter for their June 6th edition.
Even though it has been over two year since the last 'Twilight' flick was released, the British actor is still heavily associated with it, especially the criticism from fans.
"Everything changed when they did the marketing, and the general public started to view [the films] in a different way when they started to push the 'team' aspect of it. It was like, 'I'm on Team Edward or Team Jacob.' That saturated everything, and suddenly there was a backlash. Whereas with the first [film], there wasn't a backlash at all," he ranted.
It also seems quite lucky that Pattinson got the job in the first place, before being cast he remembered director Catherine Hardwicke calling him at 2:30 for a "ridiculous conversation, and I hadn't read the books or the script or anything and I just bulls--tted on the phone."
Furthermore, when at the actual audience the 28 year-old recalled, "They were doing screen tests with four people. In one of the scenes, I [was meant] to take my shirt off, and I think I was the one guy who didn't."

Portraying the fan favorite character, Edward Cullin, catapulted Pattinson into stardom, but playing the part was actually a very difficult task.

"It was quite a constricting character, in a way," he said to THR. "You want to make [him] as dramatic as possible, but you have someone who never loses his temper, and so it's like, 'How the f--k do you do this?'" Adding, "I think that was one of the hardest jobs I've ever done."
