John Malkovich And Robert Rodriguez Announce '100 Years', Which Won't Receive A Premiere Until 2115

John Malkovich Robert Rodriguez

John Malkovich and Robert Rodriguez have joined forces to make a movie with a bizarre twist – it won’t be premiered for one hundred years!

Featuring the advertising strap-line ‘the movie you’ll never see’, 100 Years will explore a number of different viewpoints about the future and what it might look like. Very little else is known about the strange project, and all that Sin City director Rodriguez had to say about the movie directly was that it was “emotionally charged”.

At the press conference where the century-delay gimmick was announced, 61 year old Malkovich, who helped with writing the script remarked: “I thought it was a fantastic idea. I wish it had been the fate of a number of films I’ve been in.”

Netflix are shrugging off any competition from Amazon Instant Video, starting with an exclusive access to the new Robert Rodriguez TV series “From Dusk Till Dawn” for subscribers in Canada, Ireland, The Netherlands, Nordic European territories and the UK – in America, the show will air on the El Rey Network available on Comcast, DirecTV and Time Warner Cable.

The show expands on Robert Rodriguez’ established franchise, which first hit the big screen back in 1996, with Quentin Tarantino serving as writer. It wasn’t a critical smash, but soon gained cult status, resulting in two rather unsuccessful additions – a film sequel and prequel.

Sheen Changes Name: Charlie Sheen Reverts Back To Estevez For Next Role

Charlie Sheen Robert Rodriguez Danny Trejo

Sheen changes name. Actor Charlie Sheen has decided to drop his screen name for the upcoming movie Machete Kills, instead reverting back to the name his father gave him; Carlos Estevez. The actor Americanised his name, just as his father Martin Sheen had done before him, in order to appeal more to Hollywood executive and American audiences, however he has decided to go back to his roots for his next appearance.

The upcoming Robert Rodriguez movie will see the actor portray the American president and in order to get into the mood of the Latino action thriller, Sheen has decided to revert back to his Latin American roots, despite taking on the most American of roles. TMZ first broke the news, obtaining a screenshot from the opening credits that sees the former Two and a Half Men star assume his birth name. Interestingly enough, this will be the first time that Charlie has assumed his birth name in any acting role.

Charlie's dad, Martin Sheen, was born Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estevez, but changed to the more American audience-friendly name in order to gain more exposure in Hollywood. Despite retaining this name throughout his career the veteran actor never changed his name legally and thus his children were all born with the name Estevez. Unlike his brother Emilio, Charlie decided to follow his father's example and use a more American-sounding name; a decision that worked tremendously in his favour.

Hot Tickets! This Weekend's US Cinema Releases: Flight, Wreck It Ralph, The Man With The Iron Fists, Vamps

Denzel Washington John C Reilly Jack McBrayer RZA Russell Crowe Lucy Liu Eli Roth Robert Rodriguez Alicia Silverstone Krysten Ritter

All eyes are on Flight and Wreck It Ralph this weekend as the main contenders for box office glory. Denzel Washington’s performance in Flight has already sparked whispers of an Oscar nomination from insiders, something that’s always guaranteed to get people fleeing to the movie theaters. However, with much of the East coast of the USA blighted by Hurricane Sandy earlier in the week, the attentions of much of the US public will be elsewhere as people try to recover from the devastation caused there.

Denzel Washington last won an Oscar in 2002, for the crime thriller Training Day. Flight is Washington’s latest stab at the prize. Described on Rotten Tomatoes as an “action packed mystery thriller,” Denzel plays the lead role of the pilot Whip Whitaker, who manages to land a passenger plane after a mid-air catastrophe and saves everyone on board. After being hailed as a hero, it soon becomes clear that something may be amiss with Whitaker and all is not as it seems.

The critical response to Flight has been largely positive, with Roger Ebert hinting at the power of Denzel’s performance by saying “Not often does a movie character make such a harrowing personal journey that keeps us in deep sympathy all of the way.” High praise indeed from Ebert. In fact, the bulk of the praise for Flight is centered on Washington; Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers surmises “Flight reminds us of what Washington can do when a role hits him with a challenge that would floor a lesser actor. He's a ball of fire, and his detailed, depth-charged, bruisingly true performance will be talked about for years.” Sounds like one not to be missed! Wreck It Ralph might not have ‘Oscar Winner’ stamped all over it but it’s still shaping up to be a strong contender in the popularity stakes this weekend, with only one dissenter failing to give it the thumbs up on Rotten Tomatoes’ round-up of the top critics’ remarks.

Eva Longoria Giggles And Avoids Mark Sanchez Questions At Alma Awards

Eva Longoria Mark Sanchez MARC CHERRY Christina Aguilera Jake Gyllenhaal Nicole Richie Robert Rodriguez

A giggling Eva Longoria Parker managed to avoid questions about her private life at the 2012 Alma Awards. According to Latino Fox News, the Desperate Housewives star managed to side-step any questions about her blossoming romance with Mark Sanchez. Eva Longoria has recently been pictured stepping out with yet another toyboy; the New York Jets quarterback, Sanchez. And in the scorching 92 degree heat at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Longoria managed to keep her cool in the face of some tough questioning.

There was no Eva Longoria boyfriend in sight but when she was asked “how did you meet Mark Sanchez and what did you find attractive about him?” she simply “giggled coyly and walked away from the press line.” She may not have answered any questions about her personal life, but Eva’s career has been going from strength to strength, since the end of the long-running Desperate Housewives series. She has already produced the movie ‘The Harvest' and will soon be directing, too. Longoria will be acting as executive producer of new show ‘Devious Maids’ alongside MARC CHERRY and will also be directing a few of the episodes, as well.

Eva was the co-host and producer of the Alma Awards and was particularly enthused about the award that was being given to Christina Aguilera. “Christina does a lot of work philanthropically so we wanted to honor that, she’s awesome,” said Eva, before Aguilera was given her Special Achievement Award that evening. The event was also attended by Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicole Richie and Robert Rodriguez.

Machete Review

Very Good
Essentially part three of the Grindhouse series, this old-style thriller sprang from Rodriguez's fake trailer. In some ways it should have stayed that short, because while it's riotously entertaining, there's nothing much to it.

Machete (Trejo) is a disgraced Mexican Federale who's hiding amongst the illegal immigrants on the Texas-Mexico border. Here he stumbles into a conspiracy involving a trigger-happy senator (DeNiro) and a wild-eyed vigilante (Johnson) who are cleaning up the border one bullet at a time. But he also runs up against a sexy immigration officer (Alba), a ruthless businessman (Fahey) and a trail of criminality leading to his nemesis Torrez (Seagal). As things get nasty, he gets help from his priest brother (Marin) and a feisty taco-truck lady (Rodriguez).

Grindhouse Review

Excellent
Longtime buddies Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez have worked together before (Four Rooms, Sin City), but this takes it to the next level. Grindhouse is their shared B-movie fantasy: a three-hour, bare-knuckled double feature epic, an unapologetic celebration of '70s-era hardcore schlock that's authentic, witty beyond expectation, and unerringly crowd-pleasing.

In a recent TV interview, Tarantino said he and Rodriguez had always wished those low-budget flicks were as good as their posters -- and they set out to achieve that, decades after the movies' heyday. With an obvious passion for the genre, the pair has recreated the experience of being at some cheap Texas drive-in with two features, fake coming attractions, missing reels, local ads, and announcements from theater management. Even if you don't catch on to everything, just watching the package is a complete thrill.

Spy Kids Review

Excellent
There are few respectable filmmakers in the world that would take on the difficult challenge of creating a children's movie. I don't mean those hack directors who just sit behind the camera and yell "action" and "print," but those few who take on the challenge of writing, directing, producing, and even editing a successful film for the underage masses. Creating a fantasy world with non-abrasive violence, imaginative sets and props, and engaging characters to follow is a tough process. With Spy Kids, Robert Rodriguez proves that his handling of adult fare extends to kids' stuff, too.

My favorite films are from my childhood -- Flash Gordon, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Mary Poppins, the Muppets movies, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, and The Never-Ending Story -- and they all presented an impossible world made real only by the power of imagination. Spy Kids ranks up there with the best children's films by creating implausible scenarios made from martial arts stunts, gee-whiz spy gadgets, robots built entirely of huge thumbs, a holodeck-like room filled with rolling clouds and stretches of golden sands, and providing total escapism for both kids and adults.

Sin City Review

Excellent
You typically have to maintain low expectations for a comic book movie. For every Spider-Man, you get a bunch of Elektras and Daredevils. So really, what can you expect from one with a huge, B-list cast and three directors?

Surprise! Sin City is a mega-violent, highly potent vial of noir crack. And judging from the riotous burst of applause at the end of our screening, one that's destined to be a Matrix-style mass-cult classic.

The Faculty Review

Very Good
Finally. We always knew Robert Rodriguez had talent as a filmmaker. We were just waiting for someone to put a good script in his hands, and Kevin Williamson has done that here. Do not be fooled by the woefully bad trailers, or by the fact that critics have roundly panned this horror film. The Faculty is easily the best of the genre to come along since Williamson's breakout hit, Scream. It is also the first watchable film Rodriguez has put up since storming onto the scene with El Mariachi.

Easily the biggest problem with this movie is in the marketing. I can only imagine how pissed off Williamson, Rodriguez, and everyone else involved in the movie must have been to see the film marketed as just another schlocky entry into the horror genre, which generally takes the words aliens; teenagers; battle; suspicious; killer; small town; etc. and jumble them up to come up with a concept (to wit, this time: suspicious small town teenagers battle killer aliens). Now if you are already a big 80s horror fan, just skip this review, because you already saw the movie, but this review is for people who are highly suspicious of shelling out eight bucks to see a horror flick. The only reason I actually saw The Faculty was because my little sister begged me to. But now I'm trying to convince you to.

Desperado Review

Excellent
Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez seem to have two things in common: an affection for old surfer-style tunes, and an unconditional love of blood. Both play heavy parts in Rodriguez's eye-popping new flick, Desperado, the $8 million sequel to his $7,000 first feature, El Mariachi, which lives up to the hype surrounding it.

In Desperado, Antonio Banderas takes the role of the mariachi with no name who leads a charmed life while everything around him dies. This sequel is the story of his quest for revenge against the men who killed the woman he loved and shot him in the hand. El Mariachi travels from town to town with a guitar case full of ultra-powerful weapons, in search for tough guy Bucho, leader of the thugs. As he closes in, things get bloodier and bloodier until the final showdown where everything is revealed. Along the way, he encounters Carolina (Salma Hayek), his newfound love interest, who saves his life more than once through some impromptu surgeries.
